I f one wants to attain the human instincts, one has to realise that these do not come all of a sudden. Certain pre- requisites have to be fulfilled. No matter how high and intense our aspiration, we cannot attain these immediately. We cannot just jump on to these. We, firstly, have to experience a deep and powerful love for Shiva Baba, emanating from all our spiritual relationships with Him, the Incorporeal, Self- luminous Being, who is the most Perfect, the most Beautiful and the Ever-pure Consciousness. If our mind is attracted to worldly and perishable things or corporeal beings, it means that we lack in our love for Shiva Baba. How can we then attain the Seed stage? We should remember that yoga is nothing but a loveful awareness and remembrance of Him; and if this awareness is obliterated by the remembrance of material things or physical forms, then, to that extent, our yoga becomes defective, defiled or falsified. In this context, it should be remembered that there are sixteen basic human instincts, which take the form of sixteen traits. In order to become good yogis, it is necessary to have their manifestation in the right form or correct channel. There is no human being, who does not have these instincts. One or the other of these is always at play when we engage ourselves in our day-to-day actions. No action would be possible without them. So, if we wish to have a yogic way of life, we have to have sublimation of these instincts. Baba has said that our yogi life is based on righteous actions (Shuddh Pravritti) but not on renunciation of action (Nivritti). It is, therefore, essential that, in order to attain a high stage of yoga, we have to engage ourselves in righteous actions, and, for that purpose, we have to direct our instincts into right directions. We find that in His divine discourses (Murlis), God, the Supreme Father, has enlightened us as to how these instincts (Pravrittis) can be remodelled. If one wants to attain the human instincts, one has to realisethat these do not come all of a sudden. Certain pre-requisites have to be fulfilled. No matter how high and

intense our aspiration, we cannot attain these immediately. Wecannot just jump on to these. We, firstly, have to experience adeep and powerful love for Shiva Baba, emanating from allour spiritual relationships with Him, the Incorporeal, Self-luminous Being, who is the most Perfect, the most Beautifuland the Ever-pure Consciousness. It continuessuccessfully and has beeninitiated in other places too.Information on this project hasbeen shared even at the UnitedNations in New York last yearby BK Ishitaben, the mainorganiser, Navrangpur Centre,Ahmedabad.

A significant portion of timewas allotted to gainingunderstanding from CA BKLalit about the presentGovernment policies andAccounting System, whichcame into being on 1 April2017. The new system is basedon the concept of Goods &Services Tax (GST). It isindeed laudable that all the

Brahma Kumaris Centres, numbering about thousands, have been connected togetherthrough the most moderncomputerised system, knownas Connect One.

At the closing of themeeting, following a powerfulMeditation Session, I(Brother Nirwair) shared myfinal thoughts as follows: “Iwould like to thank in million-fold Respected Dadi Jankiji,Brother Brij Mohanji and allour sisters and brothers, whoparticipated in the meeting.Your presence itself decoratesthis gathering. When there aredeep discussions on SpiritualKnowledge, Inculcation ofDivine Virtues and SpiritualService, one feels innerrichness. We saw howBrahma Baba was able toeasily renounce all his physicalwealth and assets for the sakeof World Service, and yetremain carefree. He,thereafter, never tookanyone’s contributions in hishands, but always indicatedthat it should be offered toMateshwariji, the YagyaMother. So, worldlyattainments and wealth arenothing compared to the blissexperienced when there areinner richness of spirit and a

We have found God, wehave attained our Dadis andthe divine family, so there isno greater wealth than this. This Brahmin world is mostunique out of the three worlds;it is here that one experiencestrue spiritual love. There isnothing mixed in this, it is realand will remain true. We willbecome real, and therebybecome the garland aroundGod’s neck!”

Respected Dadi HridayMohiniji (who was undergoingtreatment in Mumbai hospitalat the time of the Meeting)sent a special message, whichis as follows: “Please conveymy loving remembrances toeveryone. It is good thateveryone expresses theirthoughts and views in suchmeetings. But, along with theseniors, juniors should alsocome forth and share theirideas and suggestions. It issaid that the younger ones areas praise-worthy as God, sothey too can bring newness tothe conversations.”

One of our divine Sisterssent a message of gratitude

and appreciation of theproceedings of the meeting, which gives an idea of theexperiences gained by theparticipants: “The PlanningMeeting for BK SpiritualServices went very well. Themajor theme chosen for thecoming year is simple and thebest. Our Seniors handledeverything well, remainedtireless and cheerfulthroughout, thereby refreshingall. Though being in delicatehealth, the Seniors remainedpresent throughout themeeting, which filled everyonewith zeal and enthusiasm, andthereby threaded the wholegathering in unity. We expressour heart-felt thanks to thosewho organised the meeting.”

As per the reality and deepfaith of the members ofPrajapita Brahma KumarisIshwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya,it is but the Supreme Father,Incorporeal God Shiva’s andBrahma Baba’s (AvyaktBapDada) plan to bringspiritual benefits to one andall, around the globe, andthereby prove God as thebenevolent Supreme Parent ofall members of the humanrace. It is heartening to notethat the Brahma Kumarisworldwide is capable of

taking this message of spiritualbrotherhood to every nookand corner of the worldthrough their experiences, connections, enriched value-based lifestyle and the latestscientific/technological means.Externally, the global scenariois dangerously explosive andviolent and paints a grimpicture of peacelessness anddestruction. However, thedivine family of the BrahmaKumaris is very optimistic, maintains faith in their visionof One-World-Family, andcontinues to experiment andexperience the joys ofrighteous and heavenly life onthe planet earth right now.

As per the elevated GodlyVersions, those, who areinstrumental for violence, maydestroy each other one day,but the wisdom of God woulddefinitely recreate anenvironment of love, peaceand happiness, which will bechannelled far and beyond byGod’s true children.

Let us share this vision withall our near and dear ones, sothat they may get maximumbenefits in their personal andsocio-spiritual lives.

People, generally, do notknow that stress is of twokinds: positive and

negative. Everyone thinks thatit is only negative and harmful, but is not so; it is really veryhelpful.

POSITIVE STRESSThe term STRESS as an

acronym stands for positive thequalities such as: S – Satisfiedand Simple, T – Truthful andTireless, R – Responsible andResponsive, E – Experiencedand Efficient, S – Sincere andSoft, S – Sweet Spoken andServiceable.

These are the original, in-built,positive and divine qualities ofthe soul, the being, that residesin the mid-point of foreheadinside the mortal body of manor the human body.

Among 84 lakhs of species onthe earth, the human being isclaimed to be the most superiorin the creation. This is becausehe has been endowed withfaculties of mind, intellect andsanskars to think, to plan andto act in life rationally andjudiciously.

MAKE POSITIVESTRESS YOUR BEST

FRIEND–B. K. Vijay Bhasker,

Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar

In spite of having such rarefaculties, it is a pity that we areunaware of our real self. Weidentify ourselves with humanbody, which is not permanent; itis perishable whereas we are theimperishable spiritual entity, called the self or soul or beingwith the faculties of mind, intellect and sanskar.

The above-mentioned positivequalities are some of the basiccharacters of the soul or being. When we find them lacking inus, we automatically come underthe psychological pressuresleading to stress in life. So, wefall prey to situations that causenegative stress, which isdescribed as follows:

NEGATIVE STRESSThe negative STRESS as an

acronym stands for negativequalities such as: S – Sorrowfuland Sick, T – Tense andTiresome, R – Restless andReactive, E – Emotional andExhausted, S – Susceptible andSuspecting, S – Sadist andSolitary.

These are some of the mentalstates, which are very harmful

for our body and make our lifeboring and monotonous. So, webecome dejected and loosecharm in life; we always remaindepressed without any spirit, zeal, enthusiasm andencouragement; we becomeeccentric and lazy. We do noteven make any progress in life;instead, we face the failures inall our endeavours. Wegradually loose our self-confidence and develop lowerself-esteem. We start feelingunworthy to live in thiscompetitive world, so much sothat sometimes one maydrastically put an end to his/herlife.

In order to come out of thesestressful conditions of mind, onemust have the true knowledgeof the being – the self or soul.In fact, we are not the outerbody, which is a lump of the fivephysical elements of Nature; butwe are the inner soul, which isthe spiritual energy or entity thatanimates the body and conductsit. All our actions in life are reallyperformed by the soul with thehelp of the body’s organs suchas eyes, ears, nose, tongue andskin, which represent the senseof sight, hearing, smell, taste andtouch respectively. Since we donot realize this fact, we becomebody-conscious. The soulresides in the body, which is likea container for the soul. Thenature or characteristics of the

body and the soul are entirely different whichare mentioned as follows:

The characteristics of the body-consciousness are: 1. Lust and Desires, 2.Anger, 3. Greed, 4. Attachment, 5. Ego, 6.Jealousy, 7. Hatred, 8. Violence, 9.Comparision, etc. All these are negativetraits that bring us under harmful andnegative stress.

The characteristics of the soul-consciousness sare positive in nature: 1.Happiness 2. Peace 3. Love 4. Bliss 5. Purity6. Co-operation 7. Friendliness 8.Compassion 9. Mercy 10. Understanding, and so on. Thus, we find that the stresses inlife can also be positive and enjoyable, whichmake us ever successful in all our ventures.

In this wonderful creation of God,everything is dual; positive and negative aresimilar to two faces of the single coin – headand tail. One face makes us a winner andthe other face makes us a looser. It is an artto always select the winning face, the headof the coin, to be successful in life. This ispossible only through the regular practice ofRajyoga meditation. It makes us understandthe technique of keeping our mind calm, cooland positive and come out safely andsuccessfully from any critical situation in life.Rajyoga meditation develops self-confidenceto face challenges in life with the belief thatevery failure is a stepping-stone to progressand success.

Therefore, it is our sincere suggestion, advice and hearty invitation to all to visit ourPrajapita Brahma Kumaris IshwariyaVishwa Vidyalaya Centre, anywhere, in theworld and to learn this Rajyoga Meditation, free of cost, in order to be happy andpeaceful forever.

The task is not important at all; how you do it is all the more important.

What Should We Value More -The Soul Or The Body?

When the soul leaves the body, it is not justthe body that dies but it is as if all the connectionswith the world of that individual are simply cutoff. Not only the relationships but also all specificplans, projects and desires suddenly have nofurther means (medium) through which they canbe expressed or put into practice. The powersof thinking, deciding and the personality traits(sanskaras) connected with the life that is beingleft behind, stop and get hidden momentarily toemerge again after rebirth of the soul in a newbody and the commencement of a new life. Allthe material things that belonged to thatparticular individual are passed on to others.

It is also interesting to note that even whenthe body is sick, it can only be treated when thesoul is still present. If we take out the soul, noone remains to look after the body. On the otherhand, the body is a truly marvellous vehicle forthe soul to express itself through. Nomanufactured machine can be compared withthe human body. For example, it is calculatedthat in just one day, the brain is able to completea hundred times more connections than theentire telecommunication systems of the planet.Or if you compare the human eye with anymanufactured camera or the heart with anymanufactured pump, the importance of theseparts of the body cannot be played down.

In conclusion, this can be said that both thesoul and body are equally important. They aresomplementary to each other, and serve thepurpose of living the life successfully in truesense of the term.

The two scriptures ofHinduism – TheMahabharata and The

Ramayana – show that ‘jealousy’is one of the root causes of thedownfall of man and thehumanity; and it has broughtdrastic changes in humanhistory. The entire tragedy ofthese epics has its base on thenegative emotion of ‘jealousy’.In The Maha-bharata it hasbeen mentioned thatDuryodhana declined theproposal of Shree Krishna togive five villages to the fivePandavas saying, “What to talkof five villages; I will not givethe Pandavas even a needle-head sized piece of land”. Therewas no reason of depriving thePandavas of their minimumrights as proposed by ShreeKrishna. Similarly, in TheRamayana, it has beenmentioned that the queenKaikeyi was possessed withjealousy towards Rama atManthara’s provocation.Kaikeyi wished Rama to go toforest and her son Bharat tobecome the King of Ayodhya. The king Dashrath accepted her

wishes, but, in her bargain, thequeen lost her husband. Hence, the root cause of this tragedywas only the toxicity of jealousy.

The jealous persons cannotsee beyond ‘Me and Mine’.Jealousy is a negative emotionand it, generally, arises out of afeeling of ill-will towardssomeone else’s status, possessions or happiness. It issuch a strong negative tendencythat even logical and intelligenthuman beings do strange thingswhen they are under its grip. Itis not always true that those, whoare lacking in the materialpossessions, envy those whohave them. In fact, in most ofthe cases, it is observed thatthose, who are materiallyenriched, cannot see theircolleagues and neighboursflourishing or growing. Jealousyis one’s inability to toleratesomeone else’s happiness. It ismore important to note thatthough many individuals live inthe midst of abundance, yet theyremain discontented. It is anegative tendency of many notto appreciate others, who areexcelling and flourishing. It often

so happens that even though onemay have plenty yet one can’tsee other person’s happiness;this is called jealousy.

In its initial stages, jealousymay come out in the form of lightmockery, misbehaviour, creatinghurdles in other’s growth, humiliating, and spreadingrumours about them, etc. Feelingof dejection, despair and distressare the first-phase signs ofjealousy, which are limited to thelevel of sentiments and themental sphere only. If it isunchecked by the individual, thethoughts of jealousy will startdegenerating to bad karmas likeattempting to harm the personone is jealous of. This is a horriblestage in which the jealous personstarts trying to eliminate thetargeted persons in order tousurp their power and/orposition. It may lead to grievousphysical or mental harm asjealousy proceeds from thethought level to the action level.

In the wake of this terribleemotion, the endocrine systemstarts producing unhealthyhormones, which will againmake the person even morenegative and more aggressive. The jealous person, whenprovoked, can destroy allrelationships as he/she becomesmore and more toxic. Theconsequences of this terribleemotion of jealousy areenormous in the forms of

unprecedented dangers anddifficulties both for the jealousperson and the target of his/herjealousy.

In Western countries, thepeople, who are in materialplenty, are starving for spiritualempowerment. That is why thepsychiatrists in the Westerncountries are in great demand. The psychiatrists play a majorrole in the lives of many peoplewhen their mind shrinks. Theentire field of psychiatry cameinto existence only because ofthe weakened state of mind. Inweakened state, the mind startsgetting afflicted with theunknown fears, anxieties, stresses and tensions, etc. at thesubtle psychic level.

The evaluation of peoplethrough comparison may beinevitable for worldly people. But, an attitude of comparisonis also a cause of buddingjealousy. This attitude leads tojealousy, hatred and rivalryamong the people. We,unfortunately, forget thateveryone is unique in the creationof God. We all are unique andblessed with some specialqualities, which are differentfrom others’ abilities. In a way,the variety of qualities andabilities brings for us relief fromboredom and monotony of life.Again, if we do not think of whatwe lack but focus on what we

possess, we allow the positivityto grow in us. By adopting thismethod of focussing on what wehave, we also send a positivemessage to others.

The feeling of jealousy maygrow in people existing in sameplace and time. For instance, aperson doing the job in an office(place) may be jealous of hiscolleagues in the same place(office). The residents belongingto different or distant cities maynot feel jealous of each other orone another. Even in differentlevels of academic disciplinealso, for instance, a student ofMaster Degree will seldomharbour feelings of jealousy foror show resentment towards aprimary class student and vice-versa. A sportsman will onlyfeel jealous of anothersportsman of the samediscipline. Generally, jealousyemerges among the colleagues/equals/ classmates.

The complexes of any sort inour mind are terrible and willultimately lead to our downfall. We must be aware thatdepending on our roles andsanskars we will descend on theearthly stage at our pre-destinedtimes and play our pre-destinedroles accurately. After taking theseries of births, the souls getmore and more depleted of theiroriginal and essential powers, qualities, values and virtues. The

depletion of consciousness isinevitable. We need tounderstand that the EternalWorld Drama (EWD) is fixed, accurate and beneficial. Eitherthis way or that way, there maybe something favourable andbeneficial, whatsoever the casemay be. Each soul plays its partin due course of time and it goeson repetitively. None is equal toanyone. Everyone is unique andplaying his/her role in a uniquemanner. No one can play therole of anyone else. We need tounderstand that our roles arefixed and our qualities areeternally varied.

In a spiritual and psycho-logical research, it has beenfound that those, who haveattitude of gratitude, do notsuffer from discontent andjealousy. The elevated souls areblessed with someextraordinary qualities. Theyhave been devoting their timeand energy for the benefit ofothers. The development of thefeeling of gratitude willeventually be beneficial even inunknown ways.

While dealing with others, weneed to be very careful. Weshould be mindful of ourbehaviour including our wordsand actions, which may causejealousy amongst others. Wemust maintain a value-basedapproach in all situations.

Though we cannot eradicatethe tendency of someone’sjealousy yet we should becareful not to arouse jealousyin others through our words, thoughts and deeds.

By understanding God’swisdom and spiritual powers,we can eradicate this negativeemotion of jealousy. We oughtto do regular practice ofRajyoga meditation, whichmakes us divine. Theintroverted and intelligentsouls with divine virtues neverbear jealousy towards anybeing and nor also waste theirenergies on trivial things andtheir thoughts in insignificantsubjects. They remain blissful, peaceful and content. Anatmosphere of serenity can beexperienced in their divinecompany. They remaindetached while living in thisdramatic world and dobeneficial service in subtleways by sending good andpositive vibrations to all. Suchsouls will never be affected byany negative and nihilisticthoughts and vibrations, whatsoever, of others. Theyremain ever safe and securein the serene shelter ofremembrance of AlmightyGod.

Let the power of love overpower the tendency of love for power.

PERFECTING THE ART OF DETACHEDINVOLVEMENT IN RELATIONSHIPSPerfecting the art of detached involvement is a

necessity if we are to meditate successfully. But anewcomer to the path of meditation may wonder, howcan I become detached? Don’t we have to run our homesand offices and interact with people even if we arepractising meditation? Then, does detachment not meanthat we are withdrawing from our relationships andbecoming cold?

In almost all spiritual paths right through the passageof time, a lot of significance has been given to thepractice of detachment. This is simply because one ofthe deepest habits all souls have developed in the cycleof birth and rebirth is attachment, and we don’t realisethat whatever we become attached to, becomes a trapfor our consciousness, for the self, which causes thecreation of fear inside us.

So, then how do we know that we are attached tosomeone or something? We know that we are attachedwhen we start thinking about someone or something, when they are not present with us and when there is noneed to think about them. Sometimes realising andsometimes without our realizing consciously at that time, our mental energy is being drained and we do not havecontrol over our thoughts and feelings. Whenever webecome attached to anything, we automatically invite fearto be present, whether it is fear of people, objects, position, power, money or even an opinion. Any form ofattachment means that there will be a fear of damage orloss. Fear, then, takes many forms like worry, anxietyand stress as it hinders our spiritual growth. Where thereis fear, love cannot exist. Detached involvement is thefoundation, if we are to remain positive, fearless andloving towards others while interacting with them. This isknown as the art of detached involvement in relationships.

The Mahabharat warhappens at two levels;one is at a gross

physical level (a real World Warthat destroys the Iron Age(Kaliyuga) which paves theway for the Golden Age and theother one is at a subtle mentallevel (a battle that is going onwithin the mental space ofindividuals on a daily basis).

After a careful reading of TheBhagavat Gita (4:7), one canunderstand that the war at grossphysical level happens once atthe end of Kaliyuga, which isthe 4th quarter of each Kalpa(a cycle of 5000 years), but notin the 3rd quarter, calledDwapar Yuga. If theMahbharat War takes place inthe concluding phase of DwaparYuga (Copper Age), it wouldmean that God is making Hisdescent to lay the foundation forKaliyuga (Age ofUnrighteousness), which is tocome after Dwapar Yuga. But,this is chronologically impossiblebecause when God descends orcomes, He does so to establishthe Age of Righteousness. So,

THE MAHABHARATWAR HAPPENS BOTH ATPHYSICAL AND MENTAL

LEVELS– B.K. Rose Mary

the Supreme Father, God Shiva, actually makes His descent inSangam Yuga, which is themeeting point of the fag-end ofKaliyuga and the beginning ofSatyuga, to lay the foundationfor the Golden Age, Satyuga(Age of Righteousness).Confusion also arose becauseKrishna is erroneously shown tobe in the third quarter (CopperAge) whereas he actually existsin the first quarter and isregarded as the first Emperor ofthe whole earth wheneverSatyuga (Golden Age) ensuesafter being established by God.Such relating and transposing offacts can happen when an Epicis orally transmitted over theyears. The purpose of projectingKrishna into the background ofthe Mahabharat war may havebeen to show that people wouldbe so wicked and arrogant in theperiod before the Mahabharatwar that they would not changeat all even if God were to comepersonally and tell them to actrighteously. For example, theKauravas and their henchmenoutrightly rejected Krishna’s

peace-mission or proposalbefore them when he solicitedthem to give only five villages tothe Pandavas, and they eventried to imprison Krishna and, still further, they were not at allinfluenced even aftermanifestation of Hissupernatural form in theKaurava court.

Instances of later re-workingand editing of this scripture alsocontribute to further confusion. For example, in the very firstverse of The BhagavatGita(1:1) (which is the part ofThe Mahabharat Epic),Dhritarastra stated and asked:“My people and the people ofPandu assembled on the field ofrighteousness known asKurukshetra desiring to fight. What did they do? Do tell menow, O Sanjaya.” In fact,Dhritarastra’s question shouldhave been: “What are theydoing? Do tell me now, OSanjaya?”, because according tothe Epic, Sanjaya was engagedin a running commentary of thethings happening in the war-field.If Shree Krishna (who isregarded as God by the Hindus)were literally present in the war-field and talking to Arjun face toface, He would always haveused the first person pronoun“Me”, but, instead, we find theuse of third person pronoun“Him” or its other forms in manyverses of the Scripture. (The

Gita 5:21, 24-26; 6:27-28; 18:46,62, 63). Also, if Shree Krishnawere really encouraging Arjunto wage a physical war, Hewould not have commanded himto treat “victory and defeatalike” (The Gita 2:38; 6:7; 14:24,25).

Such instances of re-workingand editing of the scriptureexplain the reason why we findin The Gita inappropriate andindigestible teachings (such as‘God is omnipresent’, ‘womanis inferior to man,’ ‘salvationdepends on the planetaryposition at the time of one’sdeath’… etc.). Presence of toomany variety of subjects (mostof which are inappropriate to thesupposed war context of TheGita) too suggest that The Gitais a collaborative project, wheresome or a few philosopherswrote an initial outline and thenvarious people worked on it.Some writers were the opposersof The Vedas (2:46, 52-53),whereas some writers were thesupporters of The Vedas (TheGita 4:32; 15:15), some of themwere the supporters of casteismand others were the opposers ofcasteism, and some writers werethe Advaita Vedantists, whoteach that human soul is neverreally different from God (whichalso contradicts the very war-context of The Gita because ifGod resides in the hearts of

people, who fight at both thesides of the conflict, the questionwould rise: Who is fightingagainst whom?)

Such evidences of lateradoptions also suggest that thereader should judiciously makehis own conclusion: The violentwar happens between peoplewho are materialistic and greedy. On the contrary, God’s people/children will not fight a physicalwar because they are filled withdivine qualities such ascontentment, non-violence,purity; they always take delightin the welfare of all; sendinggood-wishes to everyone; andthey treat friend and foe alike.(The Gita 16:1-3; 12:4, 18).

Yet there is the war, whichGod’s people are prone to wageon a daily basis. But, it is aspiritual war! It is fought oftenwithin their minds; and their foesare vices in all their variousforms and manifestations (TheGita 13:1; 3:39-41; 16:21). Sincethe naming of its charactersshows that they are allrepresentations of the charactersliving in our time, TheMahabharata Epic is symbolicof all about our time. If we go tothe very essence behind all itsdetails, we will notice that whathappens to ‘soul’ is picturizedin The Mahabharat Epic:

The Pandavas (sons of Pandu, symbolic of discriminative

intelligence, reigned virtuouslyover their kingdom (symbolic ofbody). Then, Duryodhan(symbolic of pseudo soul, ego),the wicked reigning son of theblind King Dhritarashtra(symbolic of the mind, which isblindly obsessed over wealthand power), deceitfully tookaway from the Pandavas theirlands and banished them intoexile. [According to theBrihaspati Smriti, King’srelatives should not be permittedto reside in the palace. This wiselaw was meant to protect theking from undue influence of hisrelatives. Yet Pandu not onlypermitted his elder brother,Dhritarashtra, to stay in thepalace, but also consulted himon aspects of the governance, which finally paved the way fortroubles to him and his childrenfrom Dhritarashtra and latter’sson Duryodhan. This is whathappens to the intellect thatyields to the influence of mind, which would finally take overthe bodily kingdom.

When the stipulated period ofexile was over (when thePandavas arose to reclaim theirterritory) Duryodhan refused toreturn the kingdom. Thisresulted in the Mahabharat warin which the both body and mindsymbolically become thebattleground. The negativeaspects of 100 sense inclinations

(symbolically vices in all theirforms and combinations) are theformidable foes. Those whomake use of the Shreemat (theelevated Dictates or Directionsof God Shiva), which is madeavailable only in the last part ofthe Kaliyuga, can easily seizethe bodily kingdom and planttherein the banner of soul, establishing a reign resplendentwith wisdom, purity, joy, love, peace, power and bliss. Re-establishing sovereignty overone’s body enables him to leada Golden-aged life, which makeshim qualified to inherit the realGolden Age when the nextKalpa begins.

This above understanding isquite in harmony with themeaning of name Yudhishthira, the elder and leader of Pandavas.Yudhishthira means “one who issteady in the war.” This wouldalso mean that Pandavas are thepeople, who are steady in aspiritual war. War with whom/what? “War with one’s own“mind that is not conquered.”(The Gita 6:6) Thus, through thecharacter of Yudhishthira, TheMahabharat scripture is askingits readers to be in constant fightagainst the evils in their mind, which is always on the look-outfor sensual pleasures of theexternal world and also alwaysseeking to be separated fromGod. The very interest of

Yudhishthira was the pursuit ofknowledge as though he wasstruggling or making efforts togather knowledge. Even whenBhishma was lying on bed ofarrows on which he would finallybreathe his last breath, we findYudhishthira asking questionsabout the ways of truegovernance, which Bhishmaanswered and thereby enhancedthe knowledge of Yudhishthir. This also fits with the symbolicmeaning of the very nameMahabharat too, because theterm Bharat means “one whois busy in being enlightened withthe light of this knowledge”.[‘Bha’ means ‘Light’ (ofknowledge) and ‘rat’ means‘busy’]. Here, knowledge meansthe ultimate spiritual knowledgethat we are not mortal bodies butimmortal souls or atma (a +tama, meaning non-darkness orlight of knowledge), the spiritualchildren of Param Atma(Supreme Soul). It is thisknowledge that expresses itselfas purity, joy, love, peace, willpower and bliss! If one acquiresthis spiritual knowledge andtakes power from “God ofYoga” through the mentor andspiritual linking exercise ofRajyoga, he is sure to win thewar definitely. (The Gita 18:66,73, 78). In the battle betweenShreemat (God’s Directions) andmanmat (one’s own mind’s

directions) also, Rajyogi, theregular practitioner ofRayoga, always wins.

To enjoy the continuedvictory, the Rajyogi has apractice. Every night beforesleep, he/she asks Sanjaya(symbolic of his/her impartialintrospection) to reveal thehappenings of the mental war toDhritarashtra (symbolic of his/her blind mind). “Fleshly orbodily indisciplined tendenciesand the soul’s disciplinedtendencies assembled on thebodily field of sensual or spiritualactivities, for a psychologicalbattle: what did they do? Whowon the day’s battle?” Such aself-examining Rajyogiresponds promptly to anyneedful adjustment in order toremain victorious, and he/shefeels light as he/she thinks ofwhat is good, sees good ineveryone and in everything, hears good, smells what is good, tastes sattvic foods, andtouches on what is uplifting orup-building of character (whichremoves difficulties from his/herelevated path), and therebybecomes a light/guidance forothers! In return of this sensibleresponse, God gives theRajyogic practitioners, who arewinners, their Kingdom ofHeaven numberwise, accordingto the spiritual efforts each onedoes or puts in.

Always remain aware that you’re a special soul, who is chosen by none else but God.

What is God like? Canwe love someone orfeel love for

someone whom we do notknow? Then, how can we loveGod when we do not know whoHe is? In fact, to love Him, wemust know Him as He is in truesense.

The general conception ofGod is: He is Infinite,Omnipresent, Merciful, Oceanof Knowledge, Peace, Love,Joy, Purity and Power. But,whatever conception and/orperception we have of God, if itdoes not influence our conductin everyday life, it ensures thatwe do not feel the connectionbetween God and ourselves.Though, we read scriptures toknow about God and Hispresence and listen to Hispraises in the discourses givenby religious men and saints, yetwe do not have full or directknowledge of Him due to thelimited powers of our intellect. Therefore, we have only apartial, indirect and limited viewof God and things of Nature dueto limitation of our intellect.

God cannot be truly perceived

LIVING IN SPIRITUALCONSCIOUSNESS

as long as the clouds ofignorance prevail over our soulor consciousness. A deeper andtrue understanding of God canonly be possible when onerealizes or experiences one’soriginal spiritual consciousnessbeing oblivious of his presentbody-consciousness and decidesto become actively involved withHim spiritually.

We know that electricity hasthe power to light a bulb but itdoes not have the intelligence toget into the bulb. Some externalsource or agency of intelligenceis required to put it there forlighting the bulb. God is theSupreme Source of suchintelligence, called the SupremeSpiritual Consciousness orSuper-consciousness, whichrules over everything in theuniverse with the ultimate powerof His Supreme Intelligence.Every single entity in the cosmosis governed by the intelligenceof this Supreme and AbsoluteConsciousness, which keepseverything in perfect order andequilibrium through the operationof the unbreakable Divine Law.No scientist could explain

successfully the mystery of thisSupreme Spiritual Consciousnessthrough laboratory investigationon or of the physical matter. Inthis regard, I quote the followingremarks of Nobel Laureate inPhysics, Sir Niels Bohr: “We canadmittedly find nothing in physicsor chemistry that has even aremote bearing on consciousness.Yet all of us know that there issuch a thing as consciousness, simply because we have itourselves. Hence, conscious-ness must be part of nature, or,more generally, of reality, whichmeans that quite apart from thelaws of physics and chemistry,as laid down in quantum theory,we must also consider laws ofquite a different kind.” This lawis the Divine Law.

Thus, we see that there is agreat deal of consciousness increation, thereby justifying us toconclude that God is theSupreme Universal Intelligenceor Spiritual Consciousness. Hehas very exquisitely andesoterically concealed the subtledesign of the flower and fruitsinside a miniature seed with HisSupreme IntelligentCraftsmanship. Likewise, withinthe soul, the repetitive role of the84 births to be played by it inentire Time or World Cycle of5000 years (One Kalpa), isstored in it along with thesanskars of all these births.

Let us always remember thatThose, who are close to God and divine family, smile with contentment.

we are alone and friendless inthis world if we are cut off fromGod, and that we will be quiteungrateful if we forget Him. Rajyoga MeditationIt is common yogic

experience that when we calmour mind and open our heart andsoul to God with love andsincerity during practice ofRajyoga, we can see how easilyapproachable He is to us. Wecan also see how readily Heresponds to our invocation or callas well. This yogic union withGod is done in a more scientificmanner through the practice ofRajyoga. In this practice, thesoul connects itself and forms aloving mental spiritual link withthe Highest Almighty Authority, the Supreme Soul – the SupremeSpiritual Father of all souls ofthe Humanity. During thispractice or process ofmeditation, the mind experiencesa state of hallucination as ittranscends the body-consciousness or travels fromphysical consciousness tospiritual consciousness. In thisstate, the faculty of mind of thesoul is connected with God andbecomes highly delighted withthe experience of God’s spirituallove and transcendental, super-sensuous happiness. Thisinitiates an exchange of pure andpowerful energy, which, in turn, recharges again the

corresponding attributes of thesoul with the eternal powers, values, virtues and qualities ofGod, the Supreme Divine. Byfrequent and regular practice ofRajyoga, we, the spiritualchildren of God, are drawncloser towards Him and Hisboundless love, therebyforgetting our body-consciousness in the blissfulawareness of God – the SupremeSpiritual Consciousness – and, thus, experience our seven eternalspiritual relationships withHim. Shiva Baba says,“Manmanabhav” means“Think of Me and rememberMe only” being in soul-conscious state and leaving allworldly attachments. As theseeker goes deeper and deeperinto meditation experience, Godmoves closer and closer to him/her. There develops a pure anddivine love, which removes thebarriers between the seekerand the Creator, therebygenerating boundless innerpeace and inner power in thesoul of the yogic practitioner orseeker.

There is a saying, “He is thewisest who seeks God. He isthe cleverest who knows howto seek God. He is the mostprosperous who has foundGod. He is the happiest whohas the happiness of Godwithin.”

anyone’s life at present is therare moment of God Father’smagnanimity and Time’seternity for him/her. Just as thedischarged soul cannot carryfurther the load of pain andsuffering, of sins and vices, soalso the benign God Fathercannot delay but descendsdown upon the earth tounburden the soul - the longforlorn and separated spiritualchild - by injecting in it the life-supporting injection of spiritualenergy and divine powerthrough imparting of spiritualknowledge and Rajyogameditation. This rare act ofgrace for transformation of all, including impure souls and fiveelements of Nature, by God,which happens in human life atthis auspicious moment in thegreat cyclic movement of Time, called the Moment of Eternity,is not only for the soul(s) butalso for the whole of humanityand the physical universe, calledand personified as Nature.

It is always ingrained in thehuman psyche to lean upon a

greater power of divinitywhenever human souls feelweak and worn out, and theFather is already there to cometo the soul’s rescue. That iswhy Baba assures us never toworry in His own versions,“Don’t worry. I am there”(“Chinta Mat Karo, Mein HunNa.”).

We need the help of aHigher Power

The dark action (karma) ofsin and suffering which most ofus carry is too heavy to becarried alone. Therefore, weneed something on which, frankly, we can lean for help andto bear our own burdens. We cannot walkby our ‘personal strength’ alonebecause repeated problems andfailures have broken ‘the anklesof our self-reliance’; so, weneed the effective help of aHigher Power, which is greaterthan our ordinary self.Need for grace in our lifeWe human beings fail to

sometimes our intelligence isoften too poor to comprehendthe subtle metaphysical truthsaround which so much of thisquest revolves.

For all these reasons, there isenough room in our life forspecific divine effort and divinegrace. Although man himselfhas to start the enterprise ofgetting insight, it can happen onlywith the help of the Supremewhich manifests Himself asmuch-needed grace by His rareact of great magnanimity.

Doctrine of GraceThough the intellectuals think

that the doctrine of grace hasno metaphysical merit, therationalists laugh at it and theatheists scorn it, it is their error. The possibility of receiving suchgrace exists because there is auniversal element in which weall exist, and it works. We canreceive this grace throughRajyoga meditation practice andrender it to others through socio-spiritual service as well. Graceis the descent of the Overselfinto the underself’s zone ofawareness.

[* File contains invalid data |In-line.JPG*] Grace is apowerful force of the divine willthat flows into humanconsciousness or awareness forenabling the human being towork wonders in his personalefforts, which he was earlierunable to practically perform andget the desired results. A divine

boon or gift gives strength, solace and succor to the needywhen all human enterprises arenipped in the bud. This divineboon or gift the soul can receivefrom God Father throughcommunion and reunion withHim through Rajyoga meditationas taught in Brahma KumarisOrganization (BKO) gratis.

Defining the element of God’sgrace in human life, PaulBrunton said, “Grace is thedescent of the Overself into theunderself’s zone of awareness. It is a visitation of power asunexpected and unpredictable asit is welcome and gratifying. Itis an unseen hand stretchedforth from world-darkness amidwhich we grope with unsteadyfeet. It is the voice of theOverself speaking out of thecosmic silence with which weare environed. It is like aglorious rainbow of hope, whichsuddenly appears when allseems lost. More precisely, grace is a mystical energy, anactive principle pertaining to theOverself, which can produceresults in the field of humanthought, feeling and flesh alike,on the one hand; and/or inhuman karma circumstancesand relations, on the other hand.It is a cosmic will, not merely apious wish or kindly thought, andcan perform authentic miraclesunder its own unknown laws.Such is its dynamic potency thatit can confer insight into the

ultimate reality….” (PaulBrunton, 1983, p.140).

Grace bringsunprecedented changesGrace brings unprecedented

changes, whether the change ismental, physical, emotional, andintellectual. Such, indeed, is theforce of grace that, in the mentalspheres, its touch often givespeace and stability; in thephysical spheres, a spurt ofstrength and vigour; in theemotional spheres a freshrelease, in the intellectualspheres, a sudden flash ofenlightenment. Grace, really, hasthe power to make theimpossible possible, and in fact, grace can, in combination withfaith, move the mountain.

Grace is felt in heart orsoul?

People, in general, considerthat grace is felt in man’s heart. They think that the birth ofgrace is first felt in the heartbut not in the head, because theheart is its most intimate habitatin human body. Shakespeare’sperceptive power recognizedthis when he could openlyspeak of “that Deitie within mybosome” in his most mysticaldramatic work The Tempest. But, God Father Shiva, theOcean of Knowledge, hasclarified that peace is felt by thehuman soul, the spiritual entity, but not in the heart, which is aphysical entity or part of thehuman body.

Applying a powerful brake, you can change a negative thought into a positive one.

Manifestation of grace andrealization of divine soulwithin the human beingGrace manifests itself in

human soul in two ways: first, thehuman being feels a sense ofdissatisfaction and insufficiencywith the exterior life alone;second, a yearning for innerreality - the state of soul-consciousness. It empowers theinner soul and gives therealization that “what lies behindus and what lies before us aretiny matters compared to whatlies within us.” The force worksby a centripetal movement, which attracts man’s attentioninwards from his external life andphysical environment. He beginsto feel that something lies withinhimself of which he must comeinto conscious possession andthat without it he will suffer themiseries of deprivation andfrustration. He feels and intuitsthis “something” to be the sacredelement, the divine soul. Theultimate effect upon him is that, first, he is impelled to cauterizethe personal “I-thought” in themind, and, second, is, thus, prepared for an ‘insight intoultimate reality’.

Grace opens up aperspective of possibilities

Grace comes at and as theclimax of an emotional struggle, leading thereby to a perspectiveof unforeseen possibilities. Insome cases, it manifests as amomentary vision of mystic light,

and in this sublime moment whenthe higher power takespossession of man’s ego andimpels him to give hisungrudging acquiescence tothe divine leading. Once, thus, the grace has been granted, thehuman being is guided to have ‘aperspective of possibilitieshitherto unglimpsed’.

God, the Supreme Soul, gives grace to all, even to a

sinnerJust as the flower sheds its

fragrance on all those whoapproach it, the Supreme Soul –the Merciful God Father of allsouls – gives His grace to all, even to a sinner. The sinner hasoften the feeling of EGO (EdgingGod Out) in him; it is theredeeming and salvaging natureand power of grace that evacuatethese negative and egoisticfeelings from him. At the mysticaltouch of His grace, “the memoryof bygone sin is banished, theagony of present suffering issoftened, the ugliest past slipsaway, the bitterest resentmentdies down and the hurts offrustrated craving dissolve intothin air. The weak are sustained, the afflicted consoled.”

Man’s qualities, thought, imagination and feeling are

associated with the linkbetween man and God

All our best faculties andnobler qualities, all our higherfunctions of thought, imaginationand feeling themselves are

associated with this link orrelationship between man andGod. This link or relationshipthrough meditation helps insharing the qualities of both thehuman mind and the World-Mind;and, thus, connects theephemeral with the eternal. Thisconnection leads him to his ethicalaspirations, inspires to lift himabove his animalistic tendencies, prompts him to practise virtuesand instigates him to appreciatebeauty. It is a keyhole wherethrough he may get a glimpse ofthe reality: what he (the humanbeing) really is and what God (theDivine Being) really is.

Every ego, one day, willturn to the Supreme Self,

and be saved andredeemed

Prompted by the ‘unheardbidding of the Overself,’ all thingsare indeed unconsciously strivingto realize their own ideal self, toactualize the ultimate goal ofreuniting with the Father, the solelast resort. Because like thebiblical prodigal son, who sufferedfrom the shocks of divineestrangement, frustrations anddefeats of life, the human being isdriven by home-sickness; and adivine nostalgia at last impels thecrestfallen human being to turn hisface towards the one last yet onebest hope left only to him. PaulBrunton said in this regard, “Everyfinite being is unconsciously andimperceptibly drawn onwards, likea moth to a flame, to the Infinite

The God Father guides andguards man by playing the roleof a witness/observer, andsometimes playing the role ofinner ruler of man. At criticalmoments in his personal life, Hemay unexpectedly anddramatically interfere byengineering unexpected eventsor by imparting a powerful urgefor a decision, which is also anact of grace. In this divineperformance, man is super-rationally guided, miraculouslyguarded and gracefully saved.

With submission to God,man will experience change

in characterMan, who submits to God and

receives His grace, gets arousedfrom a moral or mental torporand will experience change in hischaracter with change in head, heart, feelings, thoughts, desiresand will. God, being the higherconscience of every human beingand Guardian Angel watchingover him, lifts him into its ownexalted viewpoint and lets himsee the hidden truth by bringingabout an exaltation of his mind,

personality and character. In thatexalted state of mind, man mayreceive significant visions andrevelations by God or His angels. The Supreme Self works quietlyand surely and changes man’s lifewith grace, demonstrates Hispower, interferes dramatically inthe life of every man on earthtoday and forcibly makes him Hisconscious channel at its owntime, not ours. This explains whywe cannot force the coming ofgrace and get it by scheming orstruggling. It (grace) comessuddenly, unexpectedly as a gift. However, we can makeourselves ready for it.The basis of God’s Grace isfaith, love and humbleness

The basis of getting God’sgrace is man’s faith, love andhumbleness. The graciouscurrent of a stronger power mustflow into his inner life if he callsfor it, aspires for it and gives hisdevotion to it. The basis ofattraction between the one whoseeks and the One who gives, isfaith, love and humbleness. Withhis faith, love and humbleness, man must resolutely resolve tostand expecting that the SupremeSelf truly exists; and self-realization and God-realizationare the sole objectives of hisincarnation upon the earth.Surrender arrogant will andagree: “Thy will be done.”

With change of our attitudeand deep devotion, we must lookupward with hope that the

power that runs the universal lifecan also run our personal life;and it will so happen if we cansurrender arrogant will withutter humility and let it think, feeland act through us; if we canlearn to agree: “Thy will be done.”The surrender of arrogant self-will, ignorant personal desire andblind egoistic motive is both a pre-requisite to and the consequenceof a growth into the higher, largerspiritual life. But men do notsurrender it; and the fact is thatgrace falls from God Father ‘asfreely as dew from the sky’, butmen do not receive it also.

Grace is wholly theoperation of the SupremeGrace is wholly the operation

of the Supreme Self/Overself,but man must call for it by hisyearning and prayer with asustained continuous aspirationand not merely with the moodof an hour, so that no sincere andsustained cry goes unheard bythe Supreme Self /Overself. Itis often a waste of time to begfor undeserved favours. But, itis a practical wisdom and ethicalsincerity to take to heart thistruth – repent and beredeemed.References:

The title of this article is awell-known proverb, which states that the

forthcoming events show sometentative signs before theiradvent. Time and again, ShivaBaba has given a vivid accountof the forthcoming heaven, saying that it will be inhabited bythe deities, and the heavenly lifewill be enjoyed and experiencedby them both in Golden(Satyuga) and Silver(Tretayuga) Ages, which arewell-equipped with allprosperities and innumerableassets of all kinds and varietiesof superior and highest qualitiesdue to the purest stage and formof souls, who are completelydevoid of vices such as lust, anger, greed, attachment, ego, etc. The deities will be full ofdivine attributes and sterlingspiritual qualities like peace, purity, bliss, love, happiness, power, etc. All material itemsand articles including the variousobjects of Nature will be in thepurest form; and the climatic andenvironmental conditions willalso be quite conducive to thedivine and pure lifestyle of the

deities. Baba has emphaticallytold that not only deities but alsoanimals, birds and all othercreatures in Satyuga will be inpurest stage and form(sattopradhan), i.e., free fromviciousness, flaws and badhabits. The animals and birdsinhabiting there will also be pureand will take only vegetarianfood, as the pure stage of Natureprevailing over there will provideplenty of variety of fruits andother consumable food grains offirst class superior qualities, andthere would be no shortage orscarcity of anything.

In the Kaliyuga, the souls/minds of the human beings havebecome completely polluted dueto vicious qualities and badhabits; and such impurities inthem have automatically causedthe evil impacts on other livingbeings like animals and birds inthis world. It is obvious and wellknown to everyone that humanbeings are the rational oneshaving the sixth sense, which noother creature in the world dopossess. When the human beingsbecome angry and ferocious byconsuming meat and flesh of

animals and birds, the latter alsolike the former becomeferocious, and start killing andeating the flesh of other lesseranimals and birds. By nature, astrong man could easily beat upand smash a weak man.Similarly, man, who is said to bethe supreme and highest creationamongst all other creations ofGod, can easily create animpressionable, transformativeand effective impact on otherliving creatures around theworld. In mathematics, it isformulated that plus (+)multiplied by minus (-) is equalto (=) only minus (-) but notimplied as plus (+). In this way, when a tiny drop of poison getsmixed into pure milk, it spoils thewhole milk and make itpoisonous. Similarly, sin, vice ornegativity in one will have anadverse or evil effect on manyin this world, and, thereby canmake the world hellish.

In this mundane world, therehave been no fool-proof devicesor scientific inventions that manhas invented to facilitate thecomfort and enjoyment of aluxurious life for the humanbeings. In the current world ofquite uncertainty, nobody knowswhat will happen next in the spanof a few seconds. Nobody alsoknows when and where thetransport system of differenttypes used by the human beingsin air, water and land will fail

and cause unprecedentedaccidents, thereby resultingeither in loss of lives andproperties or in major/minorinjuries of the human bodies.

It has been rightly said in TheShrimat Bhagavat Geeta aboutGod’s descent, “Whenever thereis upheaval of irreligiousness orunrighteousness in Bharat, I willcome down to the earth to setthings right and make everythingin order”. According to thissaying, such a divine and nobleact on the part of God takesplace now in the auspiciousConfluence Age (SangamYuga) only, when the cult ofBhakti performed by humanbeings during two eras namelyDwaparyug and Kaliyuga, which lasted for 2500 years, comes to an end. Thus, thevalidity period of the cult ofBhakti has already expired atthe descent of God upon theearth in the body of PrajapitaBrahma in 1936 and the cult ofknowledge commenced sincethen.

To explain this with anillustration, we all know that anymedicine in the form of tablets/capsules/injections, etc., havetheir own period of expiry afterwhich they become invalid orunsuitable for consumption.Consuming any such medicinesafter their due expiry date willcertainly have its own adverse

or ill effects on the mind andbody of the patients. Similar isthe condition and plight of thepeople in case of the cult ofBhakti also. We have witnessedor learnt through both electronicand print media (T.V. orNewspapers), which report thatthe orthodox and illogicalpractices are still being carriedout by large number of peoplein the name of cult of Bhakti, without having any knowledgeabout the time (Kaal) of thedescent of God and His realname (Naam), form (Rup),abode (Desh) and the realidentity (Pahchan) of God. Thepeople, who are doing Bhakti, have completely forgotten thefact that the worshipped deities, who are the creations of Godonly, have no such powersvested in them as to redeem thesins and vicious actions ofhuman beings. It is only theIncorporeal God Father Shiva, the Creator, Director and theMain Actor of the Eternal WorldDrama (EWD), alone, has suchpowers within Him, which he isapplying now to souls - Hisprodigal spiritual children - fortheir spiritual cure andrejuvenation through impartingof spiritual knowledge andtraining of Rajyoga meditation invarious branches/centres of theworldwide Brahma KumarisOrganization.

We can easily speculate andrealize that the advent of thenew Golden Aged World, calledParadise, is coming into closerproximity as it is quite evidentfrom the following factual report, which was published on05.01.2016 in a complimentaryEnglish edition of the TamilNewspaper ‘Daily Thanthi’under the caption: “Nature saysthat these tiger and goat areenemies but they are bestfriends”. We know that goat isa prey of feast or food forferocious wild animals liketigers. But, it is a great wonderand surprise that in Russia atPrimorye Safari Park, a big fatgoat, named Timur, was sent inalive by kicking it into the penholding Amur, the tiger.Wonderfully, instead of tuckinginto the goat for a hearty lunchlike any hungry and ferocioustiger, Amur went against itsanimalistic nature and madefriendship with Timur. By theiroriginal nature, the tiger is apredator and the goat is its prey.Yet, unprecedently, Amur, thetiger, has befriended Timur, thegoat. The two have even beenseen playing a game of tagoften. They have been alsocaught on camera roamingaround. On a few occasions,Timur has also made the tiger’sbed his own, but Amur has notgot at all into a ‘pillow fight’ with

Timur, its friend. They have beenliving happily together for a fewweeks now and their friendship isonly growing more by the passingof days since then.

We could also be easily captivatedby the pictorial exhibit preparedunder Shiva Baba’s Directions andfound in the Spiritual Exhibition orin the Spiritual Museum of theBrahma Kumaris, which shows thattiger and goat will drink the watertogether in one and the same riverin Satyuga, and this idea of non-violence among the animals in theheavenly world of Paradise orSatyuga also comes true through theabove practical behaviour andmessage of Timur, the goat, andAmur, the tiger. The advent of suchcoming event of the non-violentworld of Satyuga is truly casting itsshadow before, through theexemplary behaviour of these twoanimals in the Primorye Safari Parkof Russia.

Those, who have unshakeablefaith, in the spiritual knowledge andRajyoga training of God Shiva andHis Shreemat that are instrumentalin creating such a non-violent, pureand peaceful world, will never bedefeated by Maya and will definitelyattain a high position and status inthe Golden Age. We can feel theshowers of boons and blessingsfrom God Father Shiva by followingHis Supreme Directions (Shreemat)and, thereby, get the golden chanceof becoming the citizens orinhabitants of Heaven as our spiritualbirthrights, in our capacity of beingHis beloved spiritual children assouls.

GOD, THE GROOM, EXHORTS SOULS,THE BRIDES, FOR FLYING BACK TO

SWEET HOME

– B. K. Bhabagrahi, Naharkanta, Bhubaneswar

O’ dear souls! Take me not as Brahma, the Corporeal oldman, before ye;I’m your Incorporeal, unseen Beloved, sitting closer to histhird eye.

I came all the way down from My Supreme Abode; You are all My long-lost children whom I now found and behold.

I’m your most beloved Groom! You are my chosen bridesO’ sweet hearts! My love! You are also ever my pride.

While we all souls ever repose in our Supreme Abode ofPeace;

Down you came to play your parts and perform actionsthat none of you can miss.

Being trapped in the actions of deity and demonYou forget thy self, Home and Me, the Beloved of your own.

Wearing the physical body costumes ever in eighty four birth; You fell to body-consciousness through sorrow and mirth.

Your utter separation and suffering pulled Me finally down;I brought your self-make-up spiritual jewellery, garment andgown.

Once you wore them for looking handsome, heavenly andlovely;

But missing them, you wear sinful body-dresses andbecome weighty and ugly.

Throw them and put the attires I bring for you on, until youbecome double lightAnd a point-of-light; let’s then fly back to sweet Homesinging love song in quiet delight.

Those, who remain constantly happy, are loved by themselves and others.

When life hits and hurtsyou with suddentragic incidents like

losing a spouse, it can be veryhard. Suddenly, you becomealone. The house becomesempty and whatever washandled together or by yourspouse, has to be handled by youalone now.

On top of it, you have to dealwith all the memories that hit youfrom time to time like the thingsin the house that remind youconstantly of the person youlived with. You are in mourning– feeling grief and sorrow at theloss. You feel sorry for yourself. You start to compare your lifewith that of others and feelunfortunate.

Life turns out to be cruel andlonely, especially when you areat a particular age group whenyour kids are quite grown up andaway from you. You are in yourlatter part of your life withoutyour life partner and you feelthat you are just passing life.Another concern is also thehealth. To handle your healthissues on your own and to keepup that courage to execute all

the practical routine of life isdifficult.

Things could have happenedsuddenly like losing your spousein an accident or a gradual lossthrough disease. In the lattercase, your mind is in a state ofpreparedness, but, in the formercase, the mind is in shock ordenial of sudden loss of theperson who was your supportand companion. In either case, acceptance of the loss helps.

I am grateful for all the lovelymemories with my spouse that Ican always cherish. I recollectthose memories with gratitudeand happiness but not with regretand sadness. However, everyone, including myself, hasto leave this body one day. So, Irespect the law of nature andcall upon my courage to acceptthis nature. I still have tocontinue to play my role in thislife. I have the capacity to runmy life as a powerful individualusing my life for its betterpurpose.

There are some cases whereyou are not healthy anddependent upon others. Thiscould be depressing and make

you miss your spouse even more. When you are dependent onyour friends/relatives/nurses foryour daily needs, the heart doesbecome heavy and makes youfeel purposeless. There is a kindof disinterest that creeps in,thereby making your lifetasteless and miserable, questioning even the veryexistence of you.

Here is where one has to useone’s courage and trust in life.‘I am alive to fulfil my purposewhatever that might be. Theuniverse has kept me alive for agood cause even though withmajor health issues. God willgive me the power to handlethem too. I can be a good sourceof guidance and wisdom to mychildren, grandchildren andfriends. I could use my time todo things, which I couldn’t doearlier due to my familycommitments. Basically, life hasgiven me a new chance to liveand the freedom to explore newoptions. Let me embrace it withhope rather than getting stuck inthe past.

We can use it as anopportunity to be nice and goodto others who help us with ourhealth needs. We can be kind andloving thereby creating a goodfeeling for our heart and forothers who come to us. Thiscould be hard but the goodkarma will generate goodfeelings, and blessings will come

back to us.We can also use the company

of God to ease the pain andsuffering. No one is alone in thecompany of God. God is alwayswith us. We just forget it and gofar away seeking some humanbeing’s company. God is beyondtime and space; therefore, Hecan be our lifelong Companionand be available any time for usat any place.

Another good way to get ridof your lonely feelings and tobuild self-confidence andinterest in life is to get involvedin regular practice of Rajyogameditation. You can also trysome stretching, breathing andsmall postures based on yourhealth, which will give youcomfort and healing energy toyour body. Rajyoga Meditationhelps your mind to relax and staypeaceful and focused. It alsohelps you to master your mindand create a positive relationshipwith yourself, others and lifeitself.

How to cope up and findpurpose in life after loss?

1. Take the loss as a learningprocess to live life on yourown. It can be a learningprocess, an adventure tocome out of your personalcomfort zone and face theworld.

2. Call upon the inner strengthand courage to go and do the

chores. One must find theinner power to move aheadin life.

3. Now, you get plenty of timefor yourself. Ask yourselfwhat are some of the desires/passions which you couldn’tfulfil since you started yourfamily life. Try to fulfil themin this time.

4. If you are a working person, you could involve yourselfmore at work. Indulge in newprojects at work and somesocial environmentalprojects.

Doing something on aregular basis like yoga, meditation, visiting temples/churches/meditation centresregularly or doing service inorphanages or old age homes, keep the mind busy and bringhappiness.

Joining a social club likewomen’s club or any othersocial organization forcommunity service may alsohelp. The idea is to divert themind that is caught up in thepast and give life a purpose.

We need to broaden up ourmind from small family clusterthinking to a global thinking. Each of our lives is valuableand each one of us is a valuableperson in this world and auseful asset for the world. Wecan bring self-transformationand be an example to inspireothers even in a small way. This single life is a great wayand will go a long way toexpress our inner being to itsfullest potential.

First of all, those, who listento this knowledge daily, should know very well

that none but God alone can givethe knowledge about thetransformation of the souls andthe world. Even in the songs, Heis remembered with thesewords: “The light which Youignited, no one else can ignite”.To ignite the light of the soul, toteach the method to have yogawith Him, is not in the hands ofany human being. The humanbeing can only learn theseeternal truths but he cannotteach. If I say, I want to be adoctor, it means I have notbecome a doctor and, therefore,I want to become a doctor. Onlythe one, who is a doctor, canteach others to become adoctor. The One, who teachesus the knowledge of the depthof karma, will be the One whoteaches, whilst we are the oneswho learn. Aren’t we really thelearners?

How can the ones, whothemselves go through thebondages of karma, teach? Those deities, who have reached

the highest, can also not teach. There is no need to give or getthis knowledge when the deitiesexisted; at that time, the worldwas heaven. When deities werein heaven, their stage wascompletely pure, and there wasno question of giving knowledgeat all. They became deities bylistening to this spiritualknowledge and transformingtheir life in their last birth inSangam Yuga. What do webecome, by listening to thisdivine knowledge now? Deities. When the deities do not have theknowledge of Eternal WorldDrama (EWD); then, how canthe human beings have this

knowledge? We are in need of this true

spiritual knowledge andunderstanding. Nobody cangive this knowledge except God.Some people think that religiousfounders or famous saints likeSwami Vivekananda have giventeachings on the spiritualknowledge and understanding. But, there is no one who can givesuch a clear and completeknowledge about the soul, theSupreme Soul and the eternalworld drama in the same wayas God now does in this presentSangam Yuga – the period ofself-transformation and world-transformation.

This should be in your intellectthat, apart from God, nobody canexplain this knowledge in sucha profound manner. No one hasrevealed the secrets of karma,of degradation and liberation ofsouls except God, the SupremeSoul. This is why there is praiseof God; Guru Nanak Dev alsopraised God’s knowledge andHis noble tasks as unique: ‘Youalone know your ways andmethods.’ It is not said that Iknow your ways and methods;rather it is said that ‘only Youknow’. ‘Only You know’ meansit is He, the God Himself, whocan tell us. Isn’t it? Therefore,it should fit in your intellect thatno one except God has this

knowledge, and that this is theonly auspicious time when GodHimself is explaining thisinvaluable knowledge to souls,His prodigal spiritual children, who were long-lost but are now-found by Him.It is the soul, who feels and

experiences, but not thebody

Many people think that thesoul is immune so that nothing isimprinted on it. But, it is not likethat. The soul may get detachedfrom the body; but this does notmean that nothing is imprintedon it, or that it is detached fromany impressions. It is right thatthe soul is detached from thebody and different from it. But,it is not detached from theimpressions.

It is also not right thatwhatever is experienced isexperienced by the body. It is thesoul, who really experiences; butit experiences through the body.If there is a corpse lyingsomewhere, will that feelsomething? In fact, the one, whofeels, has left the body, and thatis why the body is lying there. So, it cannot be said that it is notthe soul, who experiences. When the soul is in the body, itexperiences sorrow orhappiness. If there is no soul ina body, and you start doing

anything to the body, will it feelanything? No. From this, weunderstand that the one, whofeels and experiences, is thesoul. It is also the soul, whocreates the karmic accounts. Therefore, when the soul goesto another body, it carries itskarmic account with it to thenext life through its rebirth inanother body.

Some experience sorrowright from their birth or earlychildhood; they becomehandicapped, blind or diseasedand experience the sorrowassociated with these. Wheredid they get this sorrow from?In the early childhood, the childhas not committed any sin! So,definitely, it is carrying forwardits karmic accounts from thepast life. The soul has broughtits karmic account with it; and,as a result, it has to take thebirth there, with a deformed orhandicapped body like that. The people, the circumstances, the situations we come across– all these associate with usbecause of our karmicaccounts accumulated in ourpast births.

So, the impressions are in thesoul. Aren’t they? This should, therefore, be in our intellect thatwhatever we do, we, the souls, experience it sooner or later.

Actions leave impressionson the soul

We need to pay attention toour actions, because the soul isnot immune to what it does;everything is imprinted on thesoul. Other people think that thesoul is immune and so they eat, drink and do anything they like. But, it is not like that. It is thesoul that performs actionsthrough the body. If the actionbecomes a sinful one; then, it isthe soul, who has to suffer. Thisis why we have to have controlover our thoughts, feelings andactions. As long we do not stopthe sinful actions, our sinscontinue to accumulate to thepoint where we cannot get ridof what has been accumulated.

We now have to finish thesinful actions, which we haveaccumulated in the past. First,we have a burden of sins fromthe past, which is why we havesorrow and peacelessness in ourlife. Whatever we have done inthe past, we are suffering as aresult of these doings.

Second, whatever we do nowshould not become sin; and, therefore, we should not performany action under the influenceof any vice like sex-lust, anger, greed, attachment, ego, indolence and jealousy. It is notthat because our mind is inclined

towards something, we justdo i t . We have to payconstant attention to checkand change our thoughts andthereby let such vices go.

Some people say that aswe continue to listen againand again, the mind becomesalright, but it is not that either. How long have we beenlistening to spir i tualdiscourses, s tories, scriptures, The Vedas, etc.?We have been listening fortwo ages, from the CopperAge, (Dwapar Yuga) till theend of Iron Age (Kaliyuga). However, as we continued tolisten, our sins also continuedto increase instead ofreducing. Didn’t they? TheCopper Age turned to IronAge, and we fel l downfurther into degradation. However, we did not let goof sinful actions! We canchange the sanskars of theself only through truespiritual knowledge andunderstanding and also byimbibing virtues and powersthrough Rajyoga Meditation, which are being taught by theSupreme Father Himself. Allthese things have to beclearly understood.

VIRTUES VERSUS VICES

– Shivangi, Nishatganj, Lucknow

Values, virtues and moralsUnanimously exist in our souls,To make us immuneAgainst failures and criticism,And helps us develop stoicism.

Discovering the mystery of soul,All of us realise the life’s real goal.

Hidden talents of human souls are revealed,As the seven qualities of soul are unveiled.

Love takes the forms of compassion and equality;Purity marks clarity and enables us to see others’ sanctity.Inner silence creates peacefulness,Perennial joy and unfolds blissfulness;Divine knowledge enlightens us with verityAnd gifts each one of us with spiritual power,To achieve the impossible,To visualise beyond our limited imagination,To reach the Almighty, Absolute and UltimateAnd to connect with the One, the Supreme Being.

Both Hero, the Civil, and villain, the Devil, reside in one spirit;Five sins forces the souls to cross all limits.

Attachment creates unwanted possessiveness;Lust makes one lose all submissiveness;

Greed turns man hungry, hankering and impulsive;Conceit moulds mind to be hesitative and indecisive;

And the worst sin of all,Rage demeans our inner beauty to the core!

Recognition of soul is the only wayTo attain wisdom and tranquilityThat can liberate us from the evil clutchesOf nihilism, narcissism and negativity.Values remain no longer our mere inheritanceBut our only unique choice for our joyful sustenance!

You can move forward, if you are content with whatever role you’re assigned to.

When we speak ofmeditation manypeople consider this

to be an act of prayer. But,meditation is a practice toregulate and guide the mind to apre-determined route so that themind becomes stabilised andpeaceful. In meditation, wefocus on the goodness of the self, the divine attributes of God,different relationships with Himand form a loving communionwith the Highest Source. Wecan meditate only when westabilize in our own spiritualawareness. In order to maintainour spiritual personalitythroughout the day and remainin meditation while involvingourselves in the day-to-dayworldly affairs of life, we mustremain in soul-consciousness.The moment we become soulconscious, we get connected toGod in a natural way. Thisprocess and practice can bemade natural if we follow thediscipline of purity in words, thoughts and actions. If wewant to enjoy meditation andmake our spiritual life a grand

success, we must make sincereand honest efforts to constantlymaintain all-round purity in life.

Mental purity(Chittashudhi)

We all know that everythingstarts with a thought. Powerful, pure, positive and elevatedthoughts have tremendouspower to radiate pure vibrationsin the world. This will make thethinker of these types ofthoughts happy, and he is alsoable to make others happy. When we start looking andthinking on the good qualities andgreatness of others, we cangenerate pure and positivethoughts and feelings. Weshould never criticise, comment, blame or complain againstanybody. We have taken an oathto establish peace on earth. Therefore, our thoughts shouldbe safeguarded at any cost soas to remain pure mentally sothat in such mind only God’sremembrance will remainnaturally.Purity in words (Vakshudhi)

As much as we maintainpurity in our thoughts, so much

we are able to maintain purity inour words. Our slogan is: speakless, speak softly, speak sweetlyand speak truth. The words wespeak reflect who we are;therefore, we should alwaysspeak words of kindness. Ourwords should be soft, polite andgive others respect andhappiness. Speak good words, kind words, words of wisdom, words of encouragement evento people who are negativetowards you. Like the gentlerains upon a dormant field, eventually, coax the seedsbeneath the soil to life, our sweetwords should enliven others.

Purity in vision(Darshanshudhi)

Our vision should also be inaccordance with our thoughtsand words. We must have apure vision of goodness andpositivity. We must have a visionin our life as to how our lifeshould take shape in future after5 years, 10 years, 15 years andso on. Our great visions forceus to think better, positively, optimistically andcharismatically. When we stayin the awareness that ‘I am asoul’, a spiritual being of subtlelight, situated at the centre offorehead, our eyes are enabledto see others in the same waywith a spiritual vision. A spiritualvision is about constantly seeingothers’ original spiritual qualities,to transmit positive energy and

see the best in others. A spiritualvision helps us to see others witha sense of equality, instead ofwith feelings of comparison orcompetitiveness, and alsoshower upon others the valuesof pure love, peace, joy, power, etc.

Purity in listening(Shravanshudhi)

Listen only to the positivepeople and ignore the negativeones. The negative people areunhappy with themselves. Donot let them drag you down withthem. People that doubt, judge, belittle, and disrespect you arenot worthy of your time andattention. Positive words help tocultivate positive feelings likelove, compassion and goodwilltowards self and others andimprove the emotional andphysical health. Let us listen tothe good words of others, progressive ideas meant forothers, inspirational works ofpeople, who improved the life ofothers. Let us listen to thecontributions of great men andwomen for the betterment ofone and all. Let us listen to greattalks, which inspire people tocontribute for the welfare of theworld. We must attempt to listento good things in life from oneand all. Our ears are meant tolisten to the goodness of others, greatness of others, goodqualities of others, good work of

others, great and inspiring wordsof wisdom.

Purity in food(Aharshudhi)

The ever green slogan aboutfood is: “As the food, so is themind.” The nature of the foodmakes a positive or negativeimpact on the mind. We shouldbe able to positively employ themind without any negativebondage. When we take impurefood, the mind gets polluted andwe will start generating toxic, negative and waste thoughts.Such thoughts are obstacles topractise meditation. Meditationrequires pure, elevated andpositive thoughts. Therefore, those who are practisingRajyoga meditation should becareful in their food habits. Purevegetarian food with a mix offruits and vegetables will bemost suitable for meditators. Thefood we consume has vibrationsof the surroundings, the mentalvibrations of the people, whoprepare the food and, above all,the qualities of the food items, which will adversely affect notonly our body but also the mind. When we consume, we musthave inner satisfaction andpleasantness. We must avoidstale, junk and non-vegetarianfood items. We must have ourfood only after we offer suchfood to God and with Hisblessings we must take the

food. Such food becomes‘prasad’, which is always pureand benefits the body, mind andspirit.

Bodily purity(Daihikshudhi)

In order to maintain purity ofthe body we must give attentionto what we put inside the bodyin the form of food. The foodwe eat can either pollute thebody or it can purify the body, depending on its bad and goodquality respectively. As far aspossible, we should take bathtwice in a day – morning andevening. Further,Brahmacharya should beobserved as a pre-condition tobecome a Rajyogi.Brahmacharya is the naturaland pure nature of the soul. Weare pure when we are abidingin Paramdham and also whenwe descend to the physicalworld at the beginning of theGolden Age. God, the Supremefather, has adopted us throughPrajapita Brahma and hasspecifically bestowed on all ofus the power of purity anddivinity. The original personalityof the soul is the personality ofpurity.

Purity in contacts(Samparkshudhi)

From morning to evening, wecome in contact with peoplethrough various dealings.

It is a Karmic bondage, if you feel that you have a right over someone.

of these instincts has to betransformed. We give here theexample of only four instinctsand the way of their remodelingor transformation.

CURIOSITYGod has said, many a time, in

His Sermons that Godly studentlife is the best. Curiosity is themajor instinct at play while oneis at study, because there can beno learning without curiosity or‘the wish to know’. In order tobecome good yogis, we have touse this instinct for the study ofGodly knowledge. We shouldhave the curiosity to know eachand every point of Godlyknowledge. So deep should beour yearning for knowledge thatwhen we listen to God’srevelations, our attention shouldbe at its climax and we shouldreceive every single point witha feeling of joy, wonder and love.It is our deep curiosity, whichwill enable us to have a goodgrasp of Godly knowledge.

It is the curiosity, whichenables us to have deepunderstanding and appreciationof every point of Godlyknowledge as an imperishablejewel or as a sweet melody oras drops of sweet nectar.

All the branches of scienceand art have come intoexistence and have developed asa result of man’s curiosity to

know. Man has spent so muchtime, money and energy to knowthings and, as a result, mountainsof books have been produced;yet, there is so much sufferingin the world, because either theinstinct of curiosity was yokedto the study of unimportantthings or it did not get thatknowledge and wisdom, whichshould root out all the sorrowsand pains from the world. Withall the curiosity, man has notbeen able to attain correct anddeep knowledge about the self,God and the World. Moreover, man has been putting hiscuriosity to negative use orabuse. In the process, he hascreated many doubts in his mindand has polluted his mind.Instead of using his instinct ofcuriosity to learn more and moreabout God and good things of life,he has been indulging in the habitof knowing the negative traits ofothers and has acquired thehobby of discussing and judgingothers. As a yogi, one should notuse the instinct of curiosity forknowing useless things or forgossip but should use it, instead,to learn and experience things, which bring about his ownenlightenment and elevation.

GREGARIOUSINSTINCT

Man has the instinct of livingin groups - big or small. He formsassociations and wants to enjoy

community life. He cannot livealone, for such is his nature. Thisis called the social instinct, which has the underlying wishto have company of others. While a sannyasi would, inprinciple, like to live alone awayfrom the society, a Rajyogiwould like to live in the society, for he considers that the societyprovides an environment for hisspiritual training and tests, andalso he has to work for thetransformation of the society inwhich he lives. He has, therefore,to employ his social instinct toform a team for spiritual socialservice or to open Godly servicecentre. This also gives him somesatisfaction because he feels thathe belongs to a group. But, whileworking at a centre, one shouldnot identify oneself with thatsmall group but should consideroneself as a member of the bigdivine family. He should not getattached to his group membersand thereby develop narrow-mindedness but, while workingin a group, he should also remaindetached from them and shouldbe aware of Baba instead of thegroup. He may have his spiritualrelationships with others andshould love them, and, yet heshould remain mentally detachedfrom them and uninfluenced bytheir negative traits. Moreover, while working with others, heshould be cautious so that he

You can fool some people some of the times but can’t fool all people all the time.

does not become dependent forhis happiness on the opinions ofor appreciation and admirationby others. He should not developthe tendency to win name andfame or social recognition; buthe should instead think ofrecognition by God (Shiv Baba)and should work for the love ofHim. He should also keep inmind that he should associatewith good yogis rather than withthe people whose motives andmanner of work is not yogi-like.INSTINCT OF COMBAT

OR AGGRESSIONOne has the instinct to fight.

This instinct is used to combatone’s enemies, to confrontone’s difficulties and to destroyone’s obstacles. This instinctalso manifests itself in the formof hatred for (or aversiontowards) what one considersbad, ugly or harmful. We can, now, use this instinct consideringRavana or the seven deadlysins such sex-lust, anger, greed, attachment, ego, indolence andjealousy as our enemies and forthe elimination of our body-consciousness. We can, nowhave aversion for this devilish,Iron-aged World, which is in itslast stage. We can use this alsoin the form of dispassiontowards our bodily relatives andin the form of dislike for thingsand persons, which can havenegative influence on us. Thus,

this instinct can also enable usto get detached from the body,to be viceless and to eliminatethe obstacles standing in theway of our yoga-practice.

Now-a-days, people fightamong themselves. They hateeach other and also one another. They have aversion to things, which are spiritual in nature. We, as yogis, should give upanger, hatred and jealousy anddirect our instinct of combattowards fighting our own evilhabits or bad Sanskars or theresult of our negative Karmas. As a result, we feel detachedfrom the body and the world. We should use our naturaltendency of ‘like’ and ‘dislike’towards the good qualities(Divya Guna) and the badqualities (Asuri Guna)respectively.

Thus, the instinct to fightenables us to win a final victoryover Maya and it works as agreat tool for our self-transformation. Without the willto fight, one develops the attitudeof passivity and yields topressures and is easily influencedby the negative. The will to fightwhat is devilish and harmfulhelps man to liberate himselffrom his bondages and enableshim to march from progress togreater progress in spite ofheavy odds that check hisprogress.

SELF-ASSERTIONEveryone is aware of self-

existence. One, therefore, oftenuses the pronoun ‘I’ or theexpression ‘I am’. This may, however, take the form ofarrogance if one begins to asserthimself as superior to others. Ifone thinks that one is wise, experienced, mature, senior orelderly, one would expect hisopinion to be accepted, himselfto be honoured and his positionto be considered as high. Ifpeople do not accept his opinion,a self-assertive person thinksthat his position is being thwartedor his authority is beingchallenged. He may make it aprestige issue and behave withgreat obstinacy and vanity. Hemay think that it is against hisdignity, self-respect or honour tosubmit or to accept that he iswrong and others are right. Thus, this ‘self-assertion’ takesthe negative form of ego, prideor haughtiness.

The instinct to assert the selfor to have self-respect is naturalbut has to be used in a positiveway and without hurting orharming others. Baba gives usreal substance for our self-respect. He makes us vicelessand good-at-heart and says thatwe are the Pandavas, the Shiva-Shaktis, the top-notches and theones, who are glorified in thescriptures. He teaches us that

A true yogi is one, who remains merged in love of God, the Yogeshwar.

we have been adored in scripturesbecause of our humility and purity. So,he gives us a proper form of self-assertion. We consider ourselves asGod’s most obedient servants and as Hismost humble instruments of service toothers. We adore Baba and notourselves. The instinct of self-assertion,in our case, takes the form of self-confidence and spiritual dignity. We donot try to be dominant nor do we intendto impose our opinion on others. Weconsider bragging and pomposity to bewrong, but we also know our self-worth.Our instinct of self-assertion works in theform of strong will-power and enablesus not to be disappointed or discouraged. It does not take the form of false pride, but we also do not consider ourselves asthe dust of the feet of any guru or deveta(god) as the devotees (Bhaktas) thinkthemselves to be. We, thus, considerourselves as yogis, who have a worthylife, the spirit of service and who also donot get hurt when someone talks ill of us,because we have no such ego as makesone feel hurt.

We use the instinct of self-assertion inthe form of self-affirmation. Each oneof us says in the mind: “I am a soul, achild of God, the Almighty; I am pure andpeaceful in my original nature....” We saywith confidence and self-assurance thatwe can win a decisive victory over vices. Thus, this and other instincts can be usedto our good advantage if we can properlyuse them.

Having different sanskars, characters, nature, etc.,we must be careful so that we do not get into badassociations. We should safeguard ourselves from thebad and negative people and their negative, toxic, vicious and waste-full thought vibrations. If we findthat certain associations do not elevate us or benefitus, then we must avoid such people. We must be veryselective in contacts. Soul consciousness, brotherlyattitude and others’ well-being should be our motto incoming in contact with others and maintaining dealingswith them.

Purity in relationships (Sambandhshudhi)One of the important aspects of our self-growth

and peaceful co-existence is possible through our goodand harmonious relationship with others. Throughrelationship, we distribute the most important wealthof happiness and contentment. We grow in leaps andbounds to multifarious dimensions through the networkof relationship with others in society. We not onlydevelop relationship with fellow human beings, but wealso develop harmonious relationship with the animalsand the natural environments. Above all, we alsonurture, culture and foster a loving relationship withGod. We have the closest, nearest and dearestrelationship with God. This is the purest relationship, which mostly benefits all of us in various ways inleading a peaceful, happy and value-based life.

STILLNESSStillness of spirit does not mean lack ofmovement; it implies that thought and

feelings move in the right directionnaturally.
