President Cleve Clinton called the meeting to order. Lisa Amsberry gave the invo-cation, and noted that Kathy Schatzʼs father had passed away and that Jeff Sheehanʼs

sister may have cancer. Please keep them in your prayers. Nolan Duck, assisted by Richard Stanford with the mike, introdu-ced our visiting Rotarians and guests. Chris Short announced The Hub and web adverti-sers of the week. Nolan Duck read the clubʼs tribute to Joe Walker who recently passed away. His wife, Helen, and his son were present to receive a copy of the tribute and his badge. Joeʼs son thanked the club on behalf of his family. PP Fred Brown read the proposed slate of officers for the club for the 2014-15 Rotary year. Mark Kashar an-nounced the off-site meeting on October 25 at Bachman Recreation Center, and asked ever-

than those in all the other coun-tries combined. Americans did not steal the wealth; they in-vented, discovered and crea-ted the wealth, and the rest of the world is a lot better off be-cause of it. In creating that

PP Greg Pape introduced Glen Rowe, the Foundation Chair for District 5810. Glen started by saying that if you are in America, you are one of the best fed, best housed, best educated and freest people on the face of the Earth. Out of every 100 people only five are Americans, but they would own one-half of the wealth and have one-third of the earnings. Americans have more Nobel Prizes

wealth, Americans developed a sense of al-truism and philanthropy. In addition to giving away $310B a year, Americans volunteer their time. Rotary is the premier service club in the world. You can bring your passion and con-cern to Rotary and you will find others who share them. The Rotary Foundation is the only foundation where every dollar is used for projects and none goes for administration.

John Maluso introduced our new mem-

ington Arts Magnet. They moved to Dallas five years ago, and she is still learning to like Dallas. She is looking forward to getting more involved in Rotary.

Next to speak was Tania Boughton. She said her life started with a bang when she and her mom were on the last flight out of Iran. Her family moved to Texas when she was a teenager. She said she

was surrounded by great men. One of her grandfathers was a Rotarian. She was in the army, but left when she had her first child. She works for J. Hilburn, but also is the author of “Eating Right, Done Right.”
