The Home-Start Family Breakfast!
Let someone else prepare your breakfast for a change and come
and join us for the morning of the 13th or 14th July. You can feed
the animals, meet live creepy crawlies, go foraging and learn about
seed planting. There will be story telling and colouring….and much
much more family fun at our 3 great venues across Bristol.
We will also be at the Southmead Festival at the Greenway Centre on Saturday 12 July.
16 live music acts will be performing including a Britain’s Got Talent Finalist! There will be
dance workshops/displays, arts and crafts, fun fair rides, a petting zoo, bouncy castle, BBQ
and a variety of food stalls. The fun kicks off at 10.00am with a car boot sale, the first
music act is at 10.30am with the last due to finish at 5.15pm.

education? The entitlement
is for all children aged
three and four. Some two
year olds are also entitled
to the free nursery
education, depending on

We are very excited about a short DVD being made by
students from UWE which we will be showing at our
AGM on July 16. Thank you to everyone who agreed to
be filmed. We hope this will encourage more volunteers
to join the scheme and attract further funding. And of

our Quality Assurance review with Home-Start UK.
We did exceptionally well scoring 96%!
M-SHED VISIT
On the 9th April several families and volunteers enjoyed a
day out at the M-Shed in Bristol.

10am– 2pm. In addition to all the attractions at the farm, we
have a room booked where children can be creative and
make something to take home. Contact the office to book
your place as a free picnic lunch will be provided.

Do you live in or near Horfield?
At a time when the future of the whole
Bristol Library Service is to be debated and
consulted on, Horfield Library would like
to create a ‘Friends Group.’
This group will be involved in promoting
the library in the local community,
organising and running events,
fundraising and bidding for grants for
community projects. Similar groups for
other libraries in the city already exist.

Are you interested in finding out more about how you can
help your child enjoy books and reading? You can apply to
take part in a new 6 week communication, language and
literacy programme for children aged 2-5 years.
You will:
Get to choose 3 free children’s books to take home
Take part in free fun learning activities with your child
for an hour a week with a trained volunteer
Be given a family booklet full of great ideas for fun home learning
Be given a scrapbook for your child to keep
