THE H.O.G.High Output GeneratorVertical Axis Wind Turbine
Global Energies Incorporated
H.O.G. Overview This High Output Generator (more affectionately
referred to as the “H.O.G.”), is different from the units you may have been working with or studying in the past. The H.O.G. is a low level, vertical axis unit that stands
approximately 90 feet high It can operate up to 5 individual generators
How the H.O.G. works The H.O.G. uses sails just like a sail boat does to capture wind
energy and turn it into electrical energy. Objects that travel as fast as the wind do not have much power in them but objects that travel slower than the wind have a lot of power in them. The H.O.G. turns very slow extracting a greater percentage of the power from the wind.
The H.O.G. is less than 90 feet high so can be placed into service in many areas that have height restrictions.

How the H.O.G. works
A hydraulic accumulator receives the fluid from a positive displacement
piston pump located on the
Wind turbine. The accumulator smoothes
out the flow and keeps the pressure constant
The H.O.G. has a total of 2,560 square feet of wind collection area, that’s a lot of sail and equal to the sides of 8 semi trucks. This power is then transferred to a positive displacement piston pump also of our design that pumps hydraulic fluid into an accumulator and then to hydraulic motors that turn generators. There are actually five generators attached to each machine. When the wind starts up it turns on the first generator and as the wind goes faster it turns on a second and a third and a fourth and a fifth generator until all five generators are on during high winds. By doing this we control how fast the machines turns as each once serves as a brake. This way we take advantage of a wider range of wind speeds making the machine more efficient.Any electrical output current needed to fit the specific task can be accomplished or mixed with any number of combinations to meet your needs. AC, DC, 110, 220, 440, single phase or three phase all blended together on the same machine to operate individually at the same time or as needed by a project.

There are 5 AC generators housed in a building that turn on in succession as the wind power increases and turn off as it
decreases. These generators are controlled by hydraulic flow valves and are turned with hydraulic motors. Higher the power
the more electricity produced. The ground location makes maintenance easy and inexpensive. The generators also act like
brake to keep the wind turbine from over speeding.

How the H.O.G. works The generators sit on the ground so they are easy to
maintain. In fact if one of the five generators needs service the hydraulic valve going to that generator is closed which takes the generator out of service; that generator can be serviced while the other four generators remain operable.
Horizontal axis machines use electronics to convert AC power to DC power and back to AC power with a square wave as the output.
The H.O.G. uses generators which generate pure sign wave AC power from the start not lower quality square wave electricity.
No costly cranes, no expensive mechanics, no highly specialized overly expensive generators.

The H.O.G. and Hurricane weather
The H.O.G. is equipped with a hurricane release feature which frees the sails so they can point downwind away from the wind reducing drag significantly. This increases their survivability in severe weather conditions, making them a wise choice in areas prone to hurricanes and other very high wind situations.
This design is rated at a 2.5 times safety factor in a category 3 hurricane.
In addition lightening damage is almost nonexistent with the H.O.G. !!

The H.O.G. and the Gyroscopic Effect
Traditional horizontal Axis wind mills rotating in a particular compass direction position, will want to stay where it is; this is
a know Gyroscopic effect. It does not want to turn and yet because the wind direction has changed the machine must turn
to face it. This turning action causes great amounts of stress over the entire structural portion of the windmill; causing
failures like towers and blades and transmissions and other bearings to fatigue wear out or even explosions.
The H.O.G. rotates on a Vertical Axis meaning it never needs to change compass direction thus there is NO
Gyroscopic Effect or any of the detrimental aspects of it.

H.O.G. Comparison
Global Energies Incorporated
The Benefits of the H.O.G. No environmental issues associated with the H.O.G. No expensive Aircraft style blades No pitch control or control box mechanics No tip brakes or mechanical braking system; no synchronous
inverter system No weather or tail vane mechanics No dangerously high RPM’s as the unit is designed for 3 to 5 RPMs Probably no zoning issues Most “parts” for the units operational needs can be bought locally
at most any Auto or Farm supply store if needed. Most mechanical work takes place less than 10 feet off the
ground and can be performed by most anyone that has a mediocre mechanical ability
The overall cost for our unit is significantly less than a typical, comparable turbine system.
