Gertrude Hawk began making chocolates in the kitchen of her

home on Mark Avenue in the Pocono Mountains region of

Pennsylvania in 1936.

• Gertrude’s son Elmer joined the business after World War II.

• With the back pay from his military service, he invested in chocolate making equipment.

• In 1963, Gertrude and Elmer built their first large-scale manufacturing facility and retail store.

• Seven additions were made to this facility.

• David Hawk (Elmer’s son and Gertrude’s grandson) now owns the business.
