    NEW DELHI: The Central Boardof Secondary Education(CBSE) wants all 15,000 af-filiated schools to celebratethe Sanskrit Week in thesecond week of August in thehope that this will help inrevitalising the use of sim-ple Sanskrit among theyouth.

    In a circular issued onJune 30 to the schools, evento those overseas and in ar-eas where Sanskrit has noroots, the Board said: TheCBSE is committed to pro-moting the teaching andlearning of Sanskrit themother of all languages. San-skrit and Indian culture areintertwined as most of theindigenous knowledge isavailable in this language.

Mr. Moditermed the meeting veryfruitful and said on Twitterthat a wide range of issueshad been discussed.

    Mr. Xi said he was lookingforward to his Septembervisit to India, and also wel-comed Mr. Modi to visit Chi-na in November whenBeijing will host the APECleaders meeting. It is pos-sible that Mr. Modi may visitBeijing in December. TheChinese President said hewas willing to work with Mr.

    According to the police,the accused, 24-year-oldGiri, molested the womanin full public view,grabbing her arm andmisbehaving with her.

    He has been arrested.The accused not only

    misbehaved with her for along time but also warnedher against raising hervoice. However, thewoman cried out for helpand soon people taking astroll in the park came toher rescue and also alertedthe police, said a policeofficer.

    A Police Control Roomteam reached the spot andtook the accused to theTughlak Road policestation where a case ofmolestation was registeredagainst him.

    The accused, a residentof Badarpur, works as ahouse-keeping staff at a

    five-star hotel.According to the police,he was in an inebriatedstate at the time of theincident.

    A medical examinationlater confirmed thepresence of alcohol in hisblood.

    The victim had come toDelhi with her femalefriend on a tourist visa onJuly 6. After a trip to Agraand nearby places, she hadreached Delhi on Sunday.

    After the recent case , inwhich a Dutch woman wasbrutally raped at StateEntry Road nearConnaught Place, thisincident has again raisedquestions over thepresence of Tourist Policein Delhi. Personnel fromthe Tourist Police aresupposed to be present inplaces frequented bytourists, Lodhi Gardenbeing one of them.

    LUCKNOW:A gang-rape victimskin, demanding action againstthe accused, resorted to vio-lence and arson and blockedthe Aligarh-Etah highway bylying on the road at Sikandra-rau in Hathras district of Ut-tar Pradesh on Tuesday.

    The 22-year-old marriedwoman was allegedly gang-raped by some youths belong-ing to her native place in Nau-rangabad area and later sether on fire.

    The victim, with 80 percent burns, died on her way toAligarh Medical College onMonday.

    The police, however,claimed that the woman com-mitted suicide. Four personswere named in the FIR filed atthe Sikandrarau police sta-tion. Two accused Vakil andBhullan have been arrested

    while two others areabsconding.

    (Law and Order) AmrendraKumar Sengar told reportersthat the woman with burn in-juries was brought to theHathras District Hospital byher mother.

    Quoting the victims moth-er, the I-G said the girl wasgang-raped in Naurangabadand she tried to commit sui-cide by torching herself. Shewas referred to Aligarh Med-

    NEW DELHI: The IndianHigh Commission inIslamabad has repliedto External AffairsMinister SushmaSwaraj over the visit of

    journalist V.P. Vaidikto Pakistan, The Hinduhas learnt.

    According tosources, the High

    Commission claimed ithad no knowledge ofMr. Vaidiks travelplans after he attendeda track-II meeting ofparliamentarians and

    journalists inIslamabad on June14-16. The meeting wasorganised by thinktank, The RegionalPeace Institute.
