It seemed like we were running out of November all month long. We have just a few things to wrap up before the holidays start (no pun in- tended). I would like to thank all of the artist teachers who submitted pieces for our project vote and for going out of their way to get the actual pieces to us. There were so many wonderful projects to choose from! Did you notice that we even had photos on our voting sheet if you voted in person? How cool was that? Please help me thank Kenna Perrin, Renee Molloy, and Leslie Pilcher for a job well done; from the project selection, to the online voting option, to the pic- ture voting sheets! It was all just fabulous! (Project Vote Re- sults are on Page 4!) While we are on the topic of thank you’s, the November class potluck lunch was quite an amazing spread. Thank you to everyone who brought dishes. In case you missed it, we even had a baked ham, and fruit salad with watermelon cut in hol- ly leaf shapes. Thank you as well to the class teacher, Sandy Garcia, for her wonderful Santa project. We were all pretty quiet while working on the tiny details of his face. He started out looking a little bit like a pirate, but came around when his fur and beard details were added. Sandy was very patient and calm with us, of course, so everyone left with a smile on their face. Lastly, thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as your chapter president for the past three years. You are a re- markable, talented, and truly big-hearted group of ladies and I am happy to have worked with all of you. I hope that you will welcome in our new president, Linda Silvasy, and help her as she transitions into her new role. Merry Christmas everyone and have a happy and safe new year. PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Hi Ladies, Here we are and it is December already. It seemed like we

were running out of November all month long. We have just a few things to wrap up before the holidays start (no pun in-tended). I would like to thank all of the artist teachers who submitted pieces for our project vote and for going out of

their way to get the actual pieces to us. There were so many wonderful projects to choose from! Did you notice that we even had photos on our voting sheet if you voted in person? How cool was that? Please help me thank Kenna Perrin,

Renee Molloy, and Leslie Pilcher for a job well done; from the project selection, to the online voting option, to the pic-

ture voting sheets! It was all just fabulous! (Project Vote Re-sults are on Page 4!)

While we are on the topic of thank you’s, the November class potluck lunch was quite an amazing spread. Thank you to everyone who brought dishes. In case you missed it, we even

had a baked ham, and fruit salad with watermelon cut in hol-ly leaf shapes. Thank you as well to the class teacher, Sandy Garcia, for her wonderful Santa project. We were all pretty

quiet while working on the tiny details of his face. He started out looking a little bit like a pirate, but came around when his fur and beard details were added. Sandy was very patient and calm with us, of course, so everyone left with a smile on

their face.

Lastly, thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as your chapter president for the past three years. You are a re-

markable, talented, and truly big-hearted group of ladies and I am happy to have worked with all of you. I hope that you will welcome in our new president, Linda Silvasy, and help her as she transitions

into her new role. Merry Christmas everyone and have a happy and safe new year.

Come celebrate Christmas with PHP

December 3, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Sue Bond is coming out of retirement to teach one more class. She will be instructing Sparkle Santa Pins. The paints will be provided. You will need your regular painting supplies. Also, every table will have a Santa plate that will go home with some-one. Bring a gift to exchange, if you wish. However, the gift exchange is optional. Ideas for the gift exchange might be hand made and/or Christmas themed items. Lunch will be provided. The cost for this wonderfully fun party is $15 dollars. We will be col-lecting new, unwrapped toys for Rady Children’s Hospital. As well, continuing our tradi-

tion, we will be collecting canned goods for the San Marcos Estates retirement commu-nity that lets us use their club house. The details of these Holiday Outreach programs can be found below. Mindy Rupp [email protected]

Food Drive Once again we plan on having a food drive for San Marcos Mobile Estates. They were so appreciative of our support last year and want to do it again. We ask that you bring your items to the December Paint-Ins .

Canned Veg & Fruit & Beans Chili Tuna Canned Meat/Chicken Canned Soup/Stews Dried Fruit Nuts Mac & Cheese Hamburger Helper/Tuna Helper All-Included Meals Pasta Rice Pasta Sauce Crackers Ramen Cup O Noodles Dried Beans Peanut Butter Instant Soups Bisquick-Pancake Mix Syrup Cereal

Dry Oatmeal Instant & Regular Coffee/Tea Sugar Flour Dry/Canned Milk Juices Shelf Staples Puddings Mayo Mustard Catsup Pickles

Cans with pop-tops are best if you have the option. Try to avoid items that require additional ingredients to use such as cake mixes that require eggs and oil.

Toy Drive We are also collecting TOYS for Rady Children’s Hospital and will collect your unwrapped NEW toys for either boys or girls to the December Paint-Ins Suggestions: 1. Musical toys/infant and toddler toys 2. Barbies/Dolls (kid friendly, no glass or porcelain) 3. Art Kits (Crayola is preferred) 4. $10 Gift Cards – Itunes, movie theater, Target, Best Buy, Starbucks 5. Board/card games (UNO, Headbanz, and Don’t Break the Ice are very popular) 6. Medical Play Kits 7. Action Figures (no guns, knives, swords, or bow and arrows) 8. New Release movies (kid appropriate) and video games for Wii, PS 3 and Xbox 360 (video games need to

be RATED “e” or “t”) 9. Cars (i.e. matchbox) 10. Legos (all ages) · We only take NEW toys in their original packaging. · Plush has to be NEW and tags need to be attached. · No guns, religious articles, or violent themed games. · Due to infection control we can only accept NEW items · Our patients’ safety and health is our number one priority here at Rady Children's Hospital San Diego.

I have peeled the stamps off their paper and addressed our last two birthday cards for 2016,

and I was thinking how very special these two babies must have been the Christmas season

when they were born! Merry Birthday to Wendy Pullin and Onya Tolmasoff! Be sure to

wish them a happy happy if you see them!

Here are six toasts you may use during your merrymaking this Christmas, plus a P.S.

Don’t forget to let me know when someone needs some sunshine!

A merry and blessed Christmas to you all!

Teri Hayes [email protected]

1. In the New Year, may your right hand always be stretched out in friendship and never in want. (Irish toast) 2. May you have warmth in your igloo, oil in your lamp, and peace in your heart. (Inuit) 3. Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each new year find you a better person. (Benjamin Franklin) 4. As you slide down the bannister of life, may the splinters never point the wrong way. (Anonymous) 5. May you never forget what is worth remembering or remember what is best forgotten. 6. May all your joys be true joys and all your pain Champagne. (Anonymous) P.S. I have truly enjoyed being your Sunshine chair this year, and I hope my little articles each month have put a smile on your face. You are an amazing group of women, and I count myself very lucky to be a part of PHP!
