The Synod of MidshyAmerica
Putting our Resources to Work for You
The Synod of MidshyAmerica (SoMA) exists for two reasons to further the lifeand mission of the church throughout Kansas and Missouri and to supportpresbyteries as they support the mission and witness of their congregationsThe Commissioners to the SoMA have many different ways of accomplishingthese two goals but one of the most simple is also one of the most joyousproviding financial assistance to presbyteries In 2012 the SoMA primarily concerned itself with rebuilding itsinfrastructure reforming its governance and revisioning its goals andprograms While a lot of critical internal work was done externalprograms were retired and much of the Per Capita and Shared Missionsent from presbyteries sat unused The Commissioners did not skip abeat That year they voted unanimously to rebate a significant portion ofunused Per Capita and Shared Mission pledges to all six presbyteriesVital presbyteries are the goal of our work and the Synod Assemblycommitted to honoring the trust of the presbyteries by not hordingresources but rather return it to work within their congregations Ordinarily financial assistance comes through utilizing the wiseinvestments of women and men before us and providing various grantsLast year the SoMA has awarded Heartland Presbytery a $20000 grantfrom the Innovation Fund for the genesis of The Dotte Initiative Thisyear the Commissioners voted to provide each presbytery that fulfilledtheir 2014 Per Capita pledge and participated in Mission Giving a$10000 grant that would help presbyteries directly assist congregations
The SoMA Commissioners are grateful that our six presbyteries havejoined us in mission and are regularly looking for ways to ensure that ourresources stimulate vital and healthy mission

Putting our Resources to Work for You
The Synod of MidshyAmerica (SoMA) exists for two reasons to further the lifeand mission of the church throughout Kansas and Missouri and to supportpresbyteries as they support the mission and witness of their congregationsThe Commissioners to the SoMA have many different ways of accomplishingthese two goals but one of the most simple is also one of the most joyousproviding financial assistance to presbyteries In 2012 the SoMA primarily concerned itself with rebuilding itsinfrastructure reforming its governance and revisioning its goals andprograms While a lot of critical internal work was done externalprograms were retired and much of the Per Capita and Shared Missionsent from presbyteries sat unused The Commissioners did not skip abeat That year they voted unanimously to rebate a significant portion ofunused Per Capita and Shared Mission pledges to all six presbyteriesVital presbyteries are the goal of our work and the Synod Assemblycommitted to honoring the trust of the presbyteries by not hordingresources but rather return it to work within their congregations Ordinarily financial assistance comes through utilizing the wiseinvestments of women and men before us and providing various grantsLast year the SoMA has awarded Heartland Presbytery a $20000 grantfrom the Innovation Fund for the genesis of The Dotte Initiative Thisyear the Commissioners voted to provide each presbytery that fulfilledtheir 2014 Per Capita pledge and participated in Mission Giving a$10000 grant that would help presbyteries directly assist congregations
The SoMA Commissioners are grateful that our six presbyteries havejoined us in mission and are regularly looking for ways to ensure that ourresources stimulate vital and healthy mission
