Common Issues with Couples who Work Together
Conflicting money & work patterns Unconscious roles assumed Unclear agreements Boundary issues Unexpressed emotions (anger; resentment) Differences in communication styles Clash of values & priorities Issues of control and power
•
According to the Center for Financial Social Work, money issues are: • The # 1 Stressor in peoples’ lives. • The # 1 Cause of divorce. • A major source of depression, anxiety, and insomnia
• An emotional roller coaster that diminishes decision making and coping skills.
How Can Couples Change This?
By moving beyond the “money taboo” and learning to talk about money openly.
By accepting that many of our money beliefs may be flawed and need to be re-calibrated.
By recognizing that as an adult, we have the power through awareness to change our patterns and challenge our beliefs.
