Homeless Ministry

The third Sunday of every month South Side Christian Church feeds the homeless in a shelter on State Street in downtown Hammond. To do this we purchase the food, pre-pare the food, take the food to the shelter, set-up to serve the food and serve those resi-dents of the shelter or others who come from the streets knowing there is a hot Sunday meal. I need riders with room in their car to take the food to the shelter and serve the food.

For Sunday, March 15th

16 jars spaghetti sauce

100 bread sticks

4 large bags of meatballs

4 heads lettuce

3 containers of cherry tomatoes

3 Cucumbers

Small head of red cabbage

2 red onions

3 green peppers

2 large cans of corn

3 Gallon of ice cream

2 bottles of Italian dressing

1 tub of butter.

We take the food to the homeless shelter by 4:30. If you would want to serve food at the shelter please contact Pam Fordyce at 1-219-895-8074. There is limited space at the shelter to serve so the number of volunteers serving is limited to 4-6 peo-ple depending on the amount of food we prepare. If we get too many volunteers, don't worry, there are other months you can help. If Pam does not answer when you call, please leave a message with a phone number and she'll call you back.

Sincerely, Pamela Fordyce 219-895-8074
