What is The Hallelujah Chorus?

It’s a new choir led by Roger Langford. We will study and sing major choral works by the likes of Purcell, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Brahms, Fauré and Jenkins. Each term will focus on the choruses of one work and will culminate in an informal performance.

Who can join? Anyone, so long as they have basic music-reading skills.

Perhaps you used to be in a choir or choral society and miss it, or you lacked the confidence to join one; perhaps family or work commitments prevent you from joining an evening choir, or maybe you just want to sing. Whatever the reason, now is your chance to dust off your vocal cords and brush up on your music-making skills.

I don’t really have a very good voice

It doesn’t matter at all! This isn’t about making the most beautiful sound; it’s about enjoying the opportunity to sing wonderful choral music.

When, where, how much?

Thursdays from 10.00am to 11.30am. United Reform Church, Hampton Dene Road, Hereford, HR1 1UJ. Fees are £50 per 10-week term, payable in advance termly or half-termly. Bring your own music.

Roger Langford Roger graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with a diploma in opera studies and spent many years singing with the likes of English Touring Opera. He has conducted several choirs and since 2002 has been the musical director of the Gwent Bach Choir. He has a wealth of experience as choral leader and oratorio soloist and regularly leads choral workshops in Hereford and Abergavenny.
