SPORTING PROGRAM - Commencing 8am Sharp
Chief Sporting Steward: Garry Hallam
Sporting run under rules as agreed by the Southern Highlands Show Societies’ Union
There will be a cask and five pegs with flags on each
Distance between lines of pegs to be 11 metres and from cask to first peg 8.230metres
Spacing between pegs to be 5 ½ metres and there is to be no limit to the lines of pegs used.
The cask to be a 20 litre drum.
Each competitor must take the furthermost peg first
If the cask is knocked down by a competitor, he or she is to re-erect it before continuing
Should the competitor fail to lodge any flags in the cask, he must dismount, pick up flag, mount,
replace flag in cask and finish.
Each competitor must keep in to his or her own line of pegs, and each competitor must keep within these lines.
Crossing these lines will mean disqualification. Should a competitor while crossing these lines in doing so,
interfere in any way with another line of pegs, another competitor or his or her horse, the heat, the
semi-final or final shall be stopped as speedily as possible, re-run, but the competitor causing the
infringement will be automatically disqualified.
Only winners of heats to be eligible to compete in semi-finals.
Should any owner have more than one horse in the final, he is to provide another rider.
Only one rider per horse per sporting event.
The rider of the first horse past the winning post will be declared the winner, only when he or she is mounted on
his or her horse, has the five flags in the cask, and has completed the course in accordance with these rules.
If a competitor is competing in another event, name will be called 2 times. Failure to appear will mean
automatically disqualification for that event.
