THE GROVER NEWS FOR THE GROVE FAMILY, BY THE GROVE FAMILY” Sorry for the newsletter being late but wanted to get Halloween Party in.. Can you believe it, it’s only 2 months until Christmas. Where did the year go? Well a lot has/is happening the first of this month. The Halloween Party on the 31st was a blast. The weather turned out beautiful so that we could be outside with our fire pits. Everyone sat around the fires, enjoyed the food and music. We would like to thank Doug S and Jack H for the cooking of the hot dogs. We had several to come in costume and were judged by an outside source. The decorated pumpkins were very good and were judged by the Grover’s who attended the party. Kathy O and I would like to thank everyone who participated in the Wii bowling and hope to see everyone back and perhaps some new faces also in January. We did get our TV’s and our shelves on the wall, thanks to the office, Ron P, and Don F. Our yard, craft, & bake sale will be on the 5th with several crafters in the clubhouse along with the baked goods and the hot dogs. Bunny and Joyce will be going around the neighborhood and selling the hot dogs from the golf cart. We would like to thank Jack H and Doug S. who will be doing the cooking of the hot dogs and to everyone who is helping and participating. Tom and the cooking team will be having a hog roast on the 11th with music by Don. See board for more information. This month Dianne P will be in charge of the Thanksgiving Dinner @ 2:00 pm. So watch the board for more information. Don’t forget to change your clocks on the 6th and remember to fall back one hour. I personally would like to see them leave the time the same; it confuses me and my little dog. Also, don’t forget to vote on the 8th. Wishing everyone a safe and Thankful Thanksgiving. * NOTES*

Please make sure to pay attention to the stop signs. Golf carts need operate the same as cars. A few residents have stated that they almost have had accidents with golf carts and I have seen it

myself, PLEASE pay attention to the stop signs, cars and golf carts. Especially pay attention to stop signs and traffic while you are in your golf cart for your own safety, you have less protection than the individual in an automobile. Please, I really worry about

this.

The community is growing and we are excited, just please pay attention.

Also, please use clubhouse entrance instead of cutting through the grass at the clubhouse area. Thanks, Patty

GARBAGE PICK-UP Every Monday Afternoon

Page 17: THE GROVER NEWS

If possible please put your can and/or trash out on Monday, but please do not place on sidewalk. We have a lot of potential lookers driving thru on Saturday and it would look more presentable if they didn’t see the trash by the curb. Please have you garbage can ready for pick-up at side of driveway. Thank you

Please know when the clubhouse is used, it must be cleaned afterwards. Please take all the trash out, wipe down counters etc.

Thank you so much to those that do so. Debbie and Betty’s job is to maintain, not clean up after events.

SIGN UP SHEETS

The signup sheet for different events is very important to whoever is doing it. It tells them about how much food, arrangements, items, etc. to prepare for that event. .So please if you are planning on attending an event, please sign up and how many will be in your party.

LAWNS MOWED EVERY TUESDAY

Page 18: THE GROVER NEWS

The yards are mowed every Tuesday unless raining. Also, the weather is getting cooler and the grass is not growing as fast and no rain, so the mowers won’t be cutting as much. But please pick up around your yard (if it’s in the way of the movers), if you see or hear them.

RECYCLE CAN and RECYCLING

There is a recycle can located between clubhouse and pool for aluminum only, if anyone would like to recycle. Please have your cans rinsed out before placing in can. Thanks to everyone who recycles.

NOTE: Cliff and I have found a great recycling site. It is located on CR 4 at 59 across 59 from

Publix. (Instead of turning left off 59...turn right and it is approximately 1 or 2 blocks down on the

right.)

Items they will take are: Electronics: computers and TV screens Bulk Metals: appliances Scrap Metals Glass Aluminum and metal cans Plastic Paper Cardboard

ABSOLUTELY NO OIL, MEDICAL WASTE, OR TRASH

Judy and Cliff Gjertson

DONATION BASKET At the Volunteer meeting the question of the donation basket was brought up. The $1-$2 donation is not sufficient to cover the cost. A vote of a more reasonable amount of $5 would be sufficient. (If you go out to eat you will spend more than $5 a person to eat). If more than $5 would be needed for a special event, it would be posted prior to the event. As most of you know the cost of food has increased. We do shop around and try to get the most for the money. On the special occasions (i.e.: trivia, breakfast, pizza, etc.) (That has food) the donation basket is set out. This money is to cover the cost of the food that is prepared and to provide the money for future events, supplies, & repairs for you. Just to clarify for some, your money for your lot rent does not cover the events expense. So please make a donation when you eat. Thank you.

PET OWNERS

PLEASE, PLEASE pick up your pets waste (large & small) and discard no matter where (back trail, walking path, neighbors yard, common ground, etc.) your friend does its business. Note: A new doggie park was constructed so our friends can go for a walk without the leash and meet other dogs. You will still be responsible for picking up after your pet. Also, a shade and benches has been provided for the pet owners.

HALLOWEEN PARTY

WOW!!! WHAT A TURNOUT FOR THE PARTY. Around 130 people showed up to enjoy the food, music, and good weather. Everyone brought their chairs and sat around the parking lot with the torches, fire, and the star lights lighting up the clubhouse and the pecan tree.

I would like to thank the cooks Doug S and Jack H for the delicious hot dogs. Mary R and her family for doing the weighted torch buckets and the wood. Dianne P, Merv O, Mary R, and Kathy O for the help in food, decorating, and putting this together. Also, to Patrick and Patty for the purchase of the hot dogs, prizes for the golf cart race and this year the 2 bike races. We had quite a few ladies on their 3 wheel bikes doing the race. The winner of the golf cart race was Gary W and the 2 bike race winners were Patty W. and Michelle S.

We had several who were in costume this year and, may I say, some awesome costumes, pirates, mimes, mummy, witches, beggars, fairy, etc. We had our judges from outside of the Grove who did a great job on judging. Thanks to you ladies. Thanks to all who participated and took the time to do this. The winner of the single was Diane B as the witch “Maleficent” and the couple was Ken & Judy D as the “Mimes”. We had 2 decorated pumpkins by Rhonda T (the winner) and Dianne P. The judging of the pumpkins were by the Grover’s voting. The table decoration brought in $22 and was won by Mary R.

Music was supplied by Don Fox and we had a lot of dancers on the parking lot. We even got in some line dancing to show off what we had learned in the class.

LIBRARY NEWS

BY Linda Reedy

Well fall is definitely upon us. For those from the north we may be missing the beautiful colored leaves,

cool crisp mornings and evenings. But no threat of a snowy winter following.

Fall things shorten days to spend outside in the pool, playing golf or just taking a relaxing walk among

the crunchy leaves on the ground. But there is nothing more relaxing than curling up with a good book

from our library.

Maybe you read in bed or while sitting on your porch with a warm afghan over you and a warm

beverage. Fall is a great time for reading.

I try to keep our shelves fresh and change books out every few months. I think I added about 30 books

last week. Of course, putting different books on the shelves mean others must move to storage.

I would really like any feedback that you would like to share with me because this is your library. So if

you can’t find your favorite book or author I may have it in storage, but will be glad to help you to find it.

Hopefully we will see the start of our new clubhouse and library soon and all our books will have a place

on the shelves! I also have many puzzles, DVD’s, VHS, and CD’s in storage. Just give me a call, Linda R

943-5408, if you are looking for a special one. We may have it!

P.S. I almost forgot to send a very special thank you to Tom Frohnapfel for fixing our big white book

shelve. He put a new back on it and a new shelf. Fixed it like new, very sturdy and much safer. Thank

you Tom.

If you have never been there before, it is a good place to eat. Some of our ladies and men are ill , keep them in your prayers GOOD BYE JOAN and STAN LEISER from every one in the GROV E. I would like to welcome all the new ladies to join us on the second Tues. of the month. it's a get out of the house day. Meet new people and let someone else wait on you. Remember to say a kind word to every one. God Bless JEANNE PINGLETON
