THE GREAT COMMISSION One of the most important statements Jesus ever made is found in Matthew 28:18-20: All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. This proclamation, known as the Great Commission, is Jesus’ instructions to His disciples to go out and spread the message of salvation to those who have never heard and to train those who accept the message to be His disciples. Not only was this message meant for the original followers of Jesus Christ but for everyone throughout history who would place their faith in Him, including us. So what is our church doing to fulfill this Great Commission? Well, in addition to spreading the gospel to those in our community and surrounding areas through local ministries, our church is involved in global missions through a ministry to the country of Belize. Since 2004, our church has taken groups to Belize to work on homes, schools, and orphanages, and to share the gospel using the Story Cloth. This year the Lord has opened an opportunity for us to instruct the nation’s teachers on how to use the Story Cloth to tell the story of Jesus t o students in their schools. This has the potential to reach every child and adult in Belize with the message of salvation! Partnering with the Vine Community Church, we will carry out this amazing work July 30 August 6. If you’d like to join the group for this trip, you can contact Alan McAlister or Derek Osburn. Or if you can’t go but would still like to support the trip, our church has come up with a fun way to raise money called Bowling for Belize. It will be held on Sunday, June 6 th, from 5-8 pm at MainLine Bowl. The cost is $15 per person and there will be prizes given to the team with the best score. Food will also be provided. Please plan on joining us for this time of fellowship and fun! You can sign up through the church office or in the church Foyer. Throughout history, the Lord has shown that when His people come together to do His will great things happen. As Central Baptist Church and the Vine Community Church work together to fulfill the Great Commission in Belize, let’s support them by praying, giving, and going Bowling for Belize!
