The Gospel of St Thomas

These are the secret sayings that the living

Jesus spoke and Didymos Judas Thomasrecorded.

1. And he said, "Whoever discovers the interpretation of these

sayings will not taste death."

2. Jesus said, "Those who seek should not stop seeking until theyfind. When they find, they will be disturbed. When they are

disturbed, they will arvel, and will reign over all. And after they

have reigned they will rest."

kingdo is in the sky,# then the birds of the sky will precede you.

f they say to you, #t is in the sea,# then the fish will precede you.

yourselves, then you live in poverty, and you are the poverty."

child seven days old about the place of life, and that person will

live. &or any of the first will be last, and will becoe a single

one."

hidden fro you will be disclosed to you. &or there is nothinghidden that will not be revealed. And there is nothing buried that

will not be raised."

hate, because all things are disclosed before heaven. After all, there

lion becoes huan. And foul is the huan that the lion will eat,

and the lion still will becoe huan."

3. And he said, The person is like a wise fisheran who cast his

net into the sea and drew it up fro the sea full of little fish.

Aong the the wise fisheran discovered a fine large fish. e

threw all the little fish back into the sea, and easily chose the large

5. Jesus said, $ook, the sower went out, took a handful of seeds,

and scattered the. oe fell on the road, and the birds cae and

gathered the. 6thers fell on rock, and they didn#t take root in the

soil and didn#t produce heads of grain. 6thers fell on thorns, and

they choked the seeds and wors ate the. And others fell on

good soil, and it produced a good crop7 it yielded si8ty per easure

and one hundred twenty per easure.

19. Jesus said, " have cast fire upon the world, and look, #guarding it until it bla:es."

11. Jesus said, "This heaven will pass away, and the one above it

will pass away. The dead are not alive, and the living will not die.

yourselves, and if you pray, you will be condened, and if you

give to charity, you will har your spirits. When you go into anyregion and walk about in the countryside, when people take you in,

eat what they serve you and heal the sick aong the. After all,

what goes into your outh will not defile you rather, it#s what

coes out of your outh that will defile you."

They are like little children living in a field that is not theirs. when

the owners of the field coe, they will say, "Bive us back our

field." They take off their clothes in front of the in order to give

say, if the owners of a house know that a thief is coing, they will

be on guard before the thief arrives and will not let the thief break

into their house %their doain' and steal their possessions. As for

you, then, be on guard against the world. =repare yourselves with

great strength, so the robbers can#t find a way to get to you, for the

trouble you e8pect will coe. $et there be aong you a person

22. Jesus saw soe babies nursing. e said to his disciples, "These

nursing babies are like those who enter the kingdo." They said to

hi, "Then shall we enter the kingdo as babies0" Jesus said to

the, "When you ake the two into one, and when you ake the

inner like the outer and the outer like the inner, and the upper like

the lower, and when you ake ale and feale into a single one,so that the ale will not be ale nor the feale be feale, when

you ake eyes in place of an eye, a hand in place of a hand, a foot

in place of a foot, an iage in place of an iage, then you will

enter the kingdo."

because they are blind in their hearts and do not see, for they cae

into the world epty, and they also seek to depart fro the world

25. Jesus said, "f the flesh cae into being because of spirit, that

is a arvel, but if spirit cae into being because of the body, that
