1 Corinthians 15:1-4

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you--unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

1 Contained in Second Covenant

Hebrews 8:6-7 6 But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises. 7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second.

John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

1 Contained in Second Covenant

We have a better law, a better high priest, better promises

This second covenant is the one that offers us eternal salvation

Are you in this covenant with God?

2 Commands a Second Birth

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

How are we born again? John 3:5 Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I

say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

2 Commands a Second Birth

The second birth is a birth in water of baptism We die to sin. We are buried in baptism. We are raised to walk in a new life. In this second birth we are forgiven of our sins –

Acts 22:16; Acts 2:38; 1 Peter 3:21

3 Promises a Second Coming

Hebrews 9:28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

There is a lot of speculation about when He will come again

Our responsibility is to prepare for His return

Acts 1:11b This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven."

John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

Are you ready for His coming?

4 Warns of a Second Death

Physical death separates the spirit from the body

Spiritual death separates the soul from God Revelation 20:6a Blessed and holy is he who

has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power

Revelation 21:8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

5 Offers Second Law of Pardon

God came to rebellious Jonah - “the second time” - Jonah 3:1

After salvation in baptism, sometimes we fail, sin, are overcome with weakness, temptation, and fall away.

Prodigal Son – was able to come back home – Luke 15

Simon – Acts 8 He believed and was baptized Then Simon himself also believed; and when

he was baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles and signs which were done. Acts 8:13

But he sinned, was in danger of being lost – Acts 8:20-22

Simon – Acts 8 Peter offered him a second chance Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and

pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. Acts 8:22

Today you have a second chance to be forgiven.
