Thought For The Day
It’s the little things
in life that determine
the big things.
. . . Thou hast been faithful over
a few things, I will make
thee ruler over many things:
enter thou into the
joy of thy lord.
Matthew 25:21

Pastor's Pen:
Our emphasis for the month is WITNESSING.
Greetings my Brothers and Sisters in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ. We are almost at the end of 2015 and even though we have had our
share of challenges this year, had some ups and downs, barriers and obstacles,
sunshine and stormy weather, yet The Lord has been mighty good to us and
kept us! Can I get a witness? Think about it, every valley He brought you
through, every mountain he has moved for us, every way he made, every door
he has opened, every time he dried ours tears and turned our sorrow into joy,
every prayer he has answered for us, every time we were down and he lifted,
should give to us more reasons to be a witness for Him. Can I get a witness!!
Anybody know who Jesus is??? I know he's alright! Hallelujah!!!

Sophomore at Stephen F. Austin State University
Majoring in Graphic Design
Every morning I wake up to read my daily scriptures to get me through my day. I also pray and ask the Lord to keep me, my family, friends, and others during the day. Throughout my school-ing, I pray and ask the Lord to help me and even when I’m overwhelmed, He is always there to help me. The scripture that I rely on the most is, Philippians 4:13 and it reads, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”

This National Diabetes Month, you have a role in diabetes education and support
NIH statement from Dr. Griffin P. Rodgers, Director, Nation-al Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
During National Diabetes Month, including World Diabetes Day on
Nov. 14, the National Institutes of Health urges you to think about the
important role you play in diabetes education and support. More than
29 million Americans have diabetes, and about 86 million more have
pre-diabetes, a condition placing them at increased risk for developing
type 2 diabetes.
In type 1 diabetes, the body does not make insulin. In type 2 diabe-
tes, the most common type, the body does not make or use insulin
well. Risk factors for type 2 diabetes include obesity, older age and
family history. Complications from both types of diabetes include heart,
kidney, nerve and eye diseases. A third type, gestational diabetes,
occurs in some women during pregnancy. Though it usually goes away
after the birth, these women and their children have a greater chance
of getting type 2 diabetes later in life.
If you have diabetes or care for someone with this disease having
diabetes education and support can help you and your loved ones to
stay healthy. Research shows that people with diabetes who receive
ongoing education and support – from friends, family, health care pro-
fessionals, groups and communities – have better health outcomes
than those who don’t.
The National Diabetes Education Program, a joint effort of the NIH
and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the NIDDK’s
National Diabetes Information Clearinghouse provide research-based
information and resources to support health care professionals, individ-
uals, families and communities affected by diabetes.
There are many ways to help care for a person with diabetes, includ-
ing:
Be a good listener. This is often the most important thing you can do
to help.
Ask how you can help with activities, such as reminders about doctor
visits, when to check blood sugar, and when to take medicine.
Make meals that include foods such as fruits, vegetables, and whole
grains.
Find activities that you can do together such as walking, dancing, or
gardening.

SUNDAY SCHOOL UNIT II CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY COMING ALIVE
THIS QUARTER This quarter has three units of study that each take a dif-ferent look at the Christian community coming alive. The first two units examine passages found in the book of Acts, while the third unit explores the theme of tradition, based on passages from both the Old and New Testa-ments. Included are the traditions by which we honor God, observe special occasions in life, and celebrate holy times together.
Unit II, "Spreading the Gospel,"
Unit II, "Spreading the Gospel," is a five-lesson study of the further growth of the early Church community as Pe-ter, Paul, Barnabas, Timothy, and Silas bravely proclaim the Gospel in Jerusalem and in faraway places.

Fall Revival Recap:
Our fall revival was a blessing. Rev. Kevin Washington of Concord Baptist Church, Houston Texas certainly did bless us with his powerful messages. Here is a brief recap of the sermons: Tuesday, October 6th: When Life is Unfair
Job 1: 13-22
1. Sometimes life is unfair. 2. Sometimes your prayers may not get answered the way you want
them to. 3. Just because you are keeping it real, doesn’t mean you are holy.
An unattacked life is an unfavored life
Wednesday, October 7th: There Has Never Been a Day Like This Joshua 10: 12-14
1. God will help you with battles you were not supposed to be in the first place.
2. God will help you persist until you produce what He wants. 3. God will help devious intentions with divine intervention.
Thursday, October 8th: When the Worst Things Happen Mark 5: 38-43
1. When the worst thing happen, just have faith 2. You have to let God work 3. Just wait on Him
Press your way past other people’s perceptions and find the presence of the Lord
"This is the day which the LORD hath made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118: 24
(I love to worship, praise God and serve)
God has a purpose and a plan for each of us. Serv- ing others is a part of His plan. Jeremiah 29:11-13. I was blessed to retire from JCPenney after 31 years, which allows me to do more work for Him. I enjoy serving as the church secretary because it is another opportunity to be used by Him. It doesn't
always take money to serve and encourage others, but some-times just a kind word, a hug or a smile will go a long way. I love visiting the nursing homes, hospitals and helping others in any way that I can. In my spare time, I like to cook and spend time with my family and friends. I am thankful for my supportive husband, Donald Bennett and our family. I want to thank Pastor Ricks, the staff and my church family for the love, support and encouragement that has been constantly demonstrated as I transition into the secretary position. I am just a servant who wants to be used by God. He is the reason that I am able to do the work that I do. I will forever love Him and give Him the praise. Phil.4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
“One City Under God” City Wide Prayer meeting will be held at Kiwanis Park each Saturday morning in November at 7:00AM.
