All Saints Sunday

Nov 3rd

On All Saints Sunday we will remember the saints that

died this year as well as loved ones who have been

witnesses to us of God’s love and presence in our lives.

We celebrate the One who draws us all to him in life in

the communion of the saints. Come and join us as we

remember and give thanks!

Thanksgiving Dinner Nov 10th

Time and Talents

In addition to giving thanks for the saints

in our lives this month, we will also give thanks for the

many blessings we have received – all gifts from God!

We will have the opportunity to reflect on offering the

gifts of our time and talents for ministry in 2020.

We will gather after worship for the annual

Thanksgiving Dinner. CLCW will provide the meats and

drinks. Everyone else is asked to bring a side dish or

dessert to add to the feast.

Thanks CLCW for hosting us again for Thanksgiving

Dinner and for the amazing work you do!

GODSPEED AND FAREWELL

NOTE FROM PASTOR Dear friends,

November is a month of thanksgiving. We begin with giving thanks on All Saints Sunday for

the many saints in our lives that led us toward faith and loved us into the people we are today.

We will give thanks for the bounty of this good earth and the gift of friends and family at

Thanksgiving. We will also give thanks for our congregation and the ministries we share with

our partner congregations and organizations.

This month is a time of reflection and opportunity for expression of our gratitude through gifts

of time, talent, and treasure. There are many ways you can serve through Christ church

whether it’s singing in the choir, assisting with communion, reading lessons, or helping with

congregational dinner, being an advocate. There are many ways to serve here. You may just

want to continue to serve in the manner that you have been serving or try something new!

If you haven’t tithed or supported the mission of the church financially then I encourage you

to consider beginning a tithe as a spiritual discipline. If you give already, consider increasing

your giving to meet a tithe as you are able keeping in mind that we are giving to God’s

mission only a tiny fraction of what God has already given to us…

I invite you this month to prayerfully consider ways you would like to serve and give and join

us in this ministry we share in Christ’s name. We will consecrate these gifts of time, talent

and treasure on December 1st!

On Reformation Sunday we said Godspeed and Farewell to Wilma Prince who has moved to Florida. We

will miss her greatly! Wilma and Bob promised to come and visit from time to time and we are holding

them to it! God’s blessings, Wilma and Bob!

Evening Prayer following the meal beginning Wednesday December 4th

GREENING OF THE CHURCH We will decorate the Nave and building for Advent and Christmas on Saturday, November 30

th 9am-12noon.

PASTOR ESTHER’S SERVICE OF RECEPTION OF ORDAINED

MINISTER TO THE ELCA DECEMBER 1ST 4PM We will celebrate with the whole church as Pastor Esther is received onto the ELCA roster as ordained minister

of Word and Sacrament ministry. Bishop Kevin Strickland will be presiding. Mark your calendars and join us

for this marvelous occasion!

SANTA’S WORKSHOP IS COMING SOON!! …and Santa is Looking for Elves! On December 14

th, the parish hall will transform into Santa’s Workshop! This event provides a way for our

children to make gifts for their family and enjoy the opportunity to give. We need volunteers to help the

children make gifts to give their parent, sibling, grandparents, etc.

There will be several stations for gift making, a wrapping center (we have plenty of wrapping paper) and lunch.

The kitchen is staffed but we are in need of helpers for the wrapping station and crafty folks to work with a

craft. We are looking for fabric to make teddy bears and volunteers to sew prior to the event.

YOUTH AND CHILDREN SUNDAY SCHOOL UPDATE We are so grateful that we have again this year, Lindsey Caulderon as our Sunday School teacher and care

provider in the nursery! We are also grateful for Andie Regg, Frank Regg and Pastor Esther who help with the

instruction of our youth! Come! Bring your children to learn about God’s love for them, learn about their faith

and our sacred stories!

ADULT BIBLE STUDY – EVERY SUNDAY Come at 9am and join us for a deeper look at the Gospel for that day…

ATTENTION YOUTH! ALL TN NOV 9-10! Let’s GO! This year All TN is at Trinity in Tullahoma, TN. All Confirmation and High School youth are encouraged to

attend. Please see Pastor Esther or Pastor Gordy for more information.

to give electronically, we want to offer a special word of thanks.

eGiving is faster, more secure, provides much-needed donation consistency and strengthens our

stewardship program. Electronic and traditional givers accustomed to texting can now give

through text giving. Make one-time or recurring offerings by simply sending a text to our

secure account at Christ Lutheran Church at 615-455-3301.

It’s a convenient solution when you can’t attend services or don’t have cash or checks with you.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone that donated candy for Trunk or Treat! Thank you to those of you that

are planning to help pass out the candy to our little trick or treater’s!

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at our Annual Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday, November

10m immediately following worship. CLCW will be providing ham, turkey and gravy, also beverages.

Please join us for thanksgiving and fellowship. Bring aside or a dessert to share.

Also, mark your calendars for Annual Cookie Exchange, which Marleen and Bob Finney are graciously

hosting at their home. The cookie exchange is Saturday, December 7at10:00am.

There is Marleen’s magnificent brunch, cookies to share; exchange and make tins for our home bound

and first responders. This is such a fun time, lots of food, fun and laughter!!

We will also have our board meeting.
