Stephen’s Ministry training planned
From the Pastor’s Screen Cahoots re-opened on
Monday, August 10 with
new baristas in place and
being trained.
Two baristas are peo-
ple we know! Naomi
Busch who worked at Ca-
hoots for many years, is
back as well as our own
Kara Olson!
Danielle Vachon re-
mains in charge of the
kitchen.
Three members have
resigned from the Board
and the remaining board
hosted a Get to Know Us
event for prospective
board members on Au-
gust 27th.
The goal is to get more
members on the Board
from the community.
All of this is to say that
there was a bump in the
road that is now being
smoothed out.
The finances of the
Café and Programming
have been split and each
will now have their own
budget. The Café has set a
goal to become self-
sufficient by January 1.
So let’s help out the
Café and have lunch at
Cahoots this month.
There are new offerings
and they are delicious!
Cahoots is a wonderful
ministry that is serving
many youth in our com-
munity. Good things are
happening there every
day; it’s truly a storefront
church in many ways.
Volunteers are always
needed, and if that’s not
for you, then PLEASE
find another way to sup-
port this important work -
like maybe a cup of coffee
at least once a week!
Blessings,
Rita Lechleidner is a
trained Stephen’s Ministry
trainer and will be doing
the training at our church
this winter; there is also a
day-long workshop, In-
troduction to Stephen’s
Ministry, that will be of-
fered in several locations
this fall that might be a
good activity for those
considering this ministry.
The Stephen’s Ministry
Program is a one-to-one
lay caring ministry within
a congregation.
We would like to once
again create such a minis-
try within our church. So
if you would be interested
in becoming trained for
such a role, please let Pas-
tor Deb know.
Stephen’s Ministers in
our church might be
asked to journey with
someone experiencing
transition in their life,
such as a divorce, or visit
shut-ins for a weekly con-
versation, or they might
be asked to make a hospi-
tal visit. Please consider
whether this ministry is a
good fit for you.
