The book is an easy read but packed with critical information for networkers. He draws you in to his personal life and shares his experiences and the honest impact it has had on him.

The book is written with a very tasteful sense of humor which makes it an easy read. It would be a mistake to think only networkers should read this book. This book is a must read for everyone. I am sorry I did not have this book when I started my career; if I had my life would be significantly different and so would my financial situation. This book is an invaluable asset. My Statement of Purpose:

The purpose of my life is to be Spiritually Connected, Family Oriented, Healthy, and Financially FREE. In order to achieve these things I must unselfishly give and help others obtain their goals and dreams; in short I must live BOLDLY in the zone! Through Honesty and Integrity I will succeed. Now I will show the world.

I am married to my lovely wife Cheryl and we live in beautiful Denver Colorado. As a young man in the military I traveled the world and learned many important truths. One thing I learned; you do not have to be born with wealth to achieve Financial Freedom.

I obtained my Associates degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland and achieved Financial Freedom for the first time in my mid thirties while serving in the US Air Force. For over twenty years I have worked in and around the Marketing and Direct Sales Industry.

I am a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. I have personally trained thousands of people, in over five countries around the world, in direct sales, Just In Time (JIT) \ LEAN manufacturing, marketing, business management, time management and goal setting. Introduction

This book is a collection of training materials written by a seasoned Network Marketer for Network Marketers. The original idea came as I was taking a new Christian Course in 1984. I noticed many similarities in being a new Christian and being new in the industry of Network Marketing.

I started preparing this information for my team in 1989 and over the past twenty five years it has grown into this survival plan. This book was not planned but rather evolved from the pain I saw many of my team going through as they struggled to build their businesses. What I want to share with you is how I survived and thrived in the ever changing yet consistent world of Network Marketing, hence the title “The Golden Business Solution!!”

I have lost track of how many close friends and associates who are now doing other things because they burned themselves out in this crazy world of MLM. Very few of the associates I started with are still in the industry today because they failed to follow some very basic principles of success. Here today, gone tomorrow as they say! I observed some super stars rise and fall within the same month. I have even seen them burn out in the same week.

95% of people who start a Home-Based Business are out of business in less than two years. Why?

A man walked into a bank in New York City one day and asked for the loan officer.

He told the loan officer that he was going to the Philippines on business for two weeks and needed to borrow $5,000. The bank officer told him that the bank would need some form of security for the loan.

Then the man handed over the keys to a new Ferrari parked on the street in front of the bank. He produced the title and everything checked out so the loan officer agreed to accept the car as collateral for the loan. The bank’s president and its officers all enjoyed a good laugh at the guy for us ing a $250,000 Ferrari as collateral against a $5,000 loan.

An employee of the bank then drove the Ferrari into the bank’s underground garage and parked it there. Two weeks later, the guy returned, repaid the $5,000 and the interest, which came to $15.41.

The loan officer said, “Sir, we are very happy this transaction has worked out very nicely; but we are a little puzzled. While you were away, we inquired more about you and found that you are a multi millionaire. What puzzles us is, why would you bother to borrow “$5,000?.

Well that’s how the rich stay rich; they know a lot more about Money Management. All the millionaires I have met in my life were penny wise. Look after your cents and the Dollars will look after themselves.

Home-Based Business Facts and Statistics

According to industry experts Home-based business is a $427 Billion a year industry. That’s more than the pharmaceutical industry, food industry, and consumer goods industry – combined!

The extremely low start-up costs, flexible hours, and the Internet are fueling the growth of the home business segment. It’s estimated that as many as 150 Million people, in North America alone, are enjoying the freedom and benefits of owning a home based Internet business.

A current International Data Corporation (IDC) observation indicates that the average income for income-generating home office households is $65,000 a year.

According to a recount from the Small Business Administration (SBA) Office of Advocacy over 20,000 entrepreneurs grossed over $1 million operating from a home based environment.

Running and owning a home-based business offers recent owners a very inexpensive entry point. 40 to 44 percent of all home-based businesses require less than $5000 for startup.

From a study done by Home Office Computing Magazine:

98% are happier working from home. 96% would recommend working from home. 88% would never return to the corporate world.

Chapter 2: - My First MLM Exposure

While visiting my mother’s home in 1983, my oldest brother stopped by. He said he wanted to talk to me about something, but he was acting very strange. He wanted me to invite some of my friends over to the house for a party so he could talk to them about something. He also told me he would pay me $10 per person that I brought over to the house.

I asked him why he wanted me to do this and he said he had a business he wanted to share with them. I had no clue as to what he was talking about but the way he was acting made me very nervous. I told him I was not comfortable with doing that; I found out later he wanted to talk to them about the Amway business.

Fast forward one year to South Dakota in 1984. My friend Rick introduced me to a guy he worked with who was making a lot of money and said I needed to meet him. When he mentioned money he had my complete attention; I told him to set up the meeting.

Several days later he introduced me to a man named Bennie Francis, who I nick-named Bubba; more on Bubba later. Bennie was a copy machine salesman at the time and seemed very successful. He was making $50 – $60 thousand a year back in the mid 1980’s; which I thought was just an incredible amount of money. I was very impressed with Bennie the first time I met him.

Bennie was big in stature; he was an ex professional football player with the Indianapolis Colts, if I remember correctly. I thought if I could just make that kind of money I could take over the world.

Bennie had a long distance telecomm MLM opportunity called StarCom he had been checking out; he was very excited about it. When he showed it to me I was so excited I literally could not sleep that night.

I called him all the time asking more and more questions. This was my second exposure to the MLM industry; the first was with my brother but that one scared me to death. This time was different, Bennie said all we had to do was tell as many people as possible about it and we would make money, a lot of money.

I was what we call in the industry “Ignorance on Fire”. I was on a mission to talk to anyone who would listen to me about this program and within a matter of a week or two we had over fifty people signed up. I had so many people joining the local leaders allowed me to speak at the weekly meetings. Some of the people I talked to would ask me “is this like Amway?” My answer at first was “I don’t know” because I had no idea what Amway was all about.

I found out later that Amway and StarCom were both MLM companies. One day I decided to check out this Amway thing so I could answer that question if I received it again. I went to an Amway meeting and found it to be a very interesting opportunity worth doing.

Bennie was very smart and he saw I was excited about the opportunity so he would spend a lot of time with me. He had these sales tapes of master sales trainers like Tom Hopkins, Jim Rohn, Brian Tracy and others.

I remember like it was yesterday, he gave me tape four of the Tom Hopkins series “How to Master The Art of Selling Anything”. I listened to Side-A then Side-B. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I could not believe this kind of information was available; I needed more of it right away.

I called Bennie that night and told him; I had to get more of these tapes. He met me the next day and gave me another tape. I listened to that one before the night was over and needed more. He met me the next day and I told him I needed the entire set because I needed to hear the whole thing.

He reluctantly agreed and gave me the whole series. I was like a kid who just received an autograph from their hero. I had the goose that laid the golden egg. I made a copy of the tapes, not very legal but I was broke; listened to them over and over and over. Some of the tapes I wore out and had to make additional copies. I still have those copied tapes in my library to this day.

Before long I was like a drug addict looking for my next motivational tape fix. I could not get enough of this positive motivation stuff. I really did not care what they called it I needed more. Bennie had other tape series so I made copies of them as well. I was sure that within a matter of months or a year at the most I would be a millionaire ten times over.

I believe the growth I experienced through these positive motivational tapes and books was the main reason I was able to overcome my stuttering problem I had from early childhood. Through them I developed the personal power and confidence to overcome many things including being able to conduct public speaking seminars.

The company that Bennie introduced us to was called StarCom, based out of Texas. Our group was over one hundred strong and some of us were expecting big checks. My check was going to be more than half my monthly military income so I was very excited. The company had delay after delay with sending our checks; then one day they were gone. They filed for Bankruptcy and just like that it was over.

The guy, who sponsored Bennie named Tom, knew a Local Telecomm Phone company owner who saw the money that could be made and offered us the opportunity to work with his company locally. This time we knew the owner, the company was local plus we were part of the planning board for the company.

This was the perfect scenario, we thought. We called everyone and gave them the great news. Some of them decided to join us but most were already burned out with this MLM stuff. Basically they gave up on their dreams. We started meetings again and within a matter of weeks we were back up to the same numbers and things were rocking and rolling.

With this company we received a few checks and I was seriously thinking of getting out of the Air Force. We met several times a week and things looked very good. But the owner did not understand how MLMs worked and he started to switch money from one account to the next without regard to payroll. He would also disappear on vacation for weeks at a time and would leave no one in charge in his absence. Before long this opportunity crumbled as well and we were back to square one.

I could tell Bennie was visibly frustrated because we had two great opportunities fall apart in a matter of months through no fault of our own. One day he called me and said he met a millionaire from Deadwood, South Dakota named Gary Kehn who was doing some marketing things and I should meet with him.

I told Bennie that if he thought I should meet Gary that was good enough for me, so I called him. We set up a meeting and one evening Gary and his lovely wife Kim showed up at my apartment.

My first meeting with Gary and Kim was very strange. First off, he brought his wife and I did not recall any conversation about her coming. Second, when they arrived Kim took off her shoes and sat on the floor of my apartment; as Gary began to tell me about his opportunity. I thought this was very strange and I thought Gary and Kim were even stranger. I was not sure what we talked about but eventually he got around to telling me the name of the company and it was Amway.

I told Gary that I had been to an Amway meeting a few months ago and it appeared to be a good program. He said he and Kim were doing pretty good with it and now they work it full time. In fact he was being modest because he was making around $20,000.00 a month back then and he was not even at the top of the food chain.

His family also owned the famous Number Ten Salon in Deadwood. We had already talked for at least an hour before he got to the money but when he did I had plenty of questions. I started to see why Bennie wanted me to meet Gary and Kim. They turned out to be very delightful people like many people I met in South Dakota. Gary was even the best man at my wedding.

The more we talked about the money the more excited I got. Anytime I asked Gary a question he could not answer he would just say “Ain’t It Great!” The more I realized he did not know about the opportunity the more excited I got.

I was thinking that if this yahoo from South Dakota could become a millionaire in five years with Amway I would get it done in about six months. I think this first meeting lasted about 3 hours and I was very excited when they left. I would have signed up that night if I had the money, but I was dead broke.

The next time I talked to Bennie I was still very interested. I asked him what his take on the deal was. He felt it was good but it was clear he was not as excited as I was. I called my brother and asked him was he still doing Amway. I also apologized to him for not responding better to him when he tried to talk to me about it a year before. Within a matter of days or weeks I had no less than three people approach me about joining the Amway business.

I wanted to join but I was not sure whom I should signup under. I choose to sign up with my brother because he was the first person who talked to me about it. But over time he could not support my business long distance so he suggested I signup with someone closer.

The other person was a VERY good friend of mine named Tyrone Gibson so I had to choose between Tyrone and Bennie. I found out that Tyrone was in the same group as Bennie so I was sure we could still work together even if I signed up with Bennie. I signed up and started to build my new Amway Business.

The Amway meetings were a good time to fellowship. It was inspiring to see the people; making the program work. I got the chance to see Bill Britt when he was just a Diamond. There was ALWAYS a meeting after the meeting. If you hung around long enough and the crowd got small enough you could find yourself in a hotel suite listening to Bill Britt, Dexter Yager, Ron Puryear or Jack Daughtry speak in casual conversation, unscripted.

I was a sponge back then and I would always look for the next meeting or gathering. In case you were wondering these guys are some of the top income earners in Amway and most are making tens of millions of dollars a year these days.

Books, tapes, and seminars are a big part of the Amway program. Some people complain about the cost of these items but the knowledge I gained over the years is hard to put a price on. I was introduced to Books like Think and Grow Rich, The Magic of Thinking Big, How to Stop Worrying and Start Living, Hung By the Tongue, Atlas Shrugged, and many others.

Some have said they lost a lot of money going to these meetings and buying all the materials but I never did. To me this was not rocket science if I had the money I would buy the items if I did not have the money I would not, period, end of story.

The thing that I liked best about the business was the freedom and peace of mind the leaders had. When you have a ton of money and plenty of time to spend it you operate on a totally different level.

I called one of my upline Diamonds one day, he was not there but his wife answered the phone. She said he was at the auto shop getting his windshield replaced. Now this may not sound like a big deal to you but a few days earlier he had a nick on the glass. I saw this little nick and it was NOT on the drivers’ side in plain view. In fact it was so far off to the right that I could hardly find it.

My question to you is how long do you let nicks hang around on your windshield before you get them fixed? Back then I could let it sit there forever or until it formed a crack that blocked my view. But if the crack went high or low I was good to go.

The main reason I would not replace it was MONEY. But if money were no object I would do what he did and get it replaced. I was a slave to money and could not spend it on things like that when I had other priorities that demanded my attention. My point is he had so much money that even this little nick had to go.

I thought WOW I really want to be that rich one-day to get rid of all the nicks on my windshield and IN MY LIFE. Most of us common folks have so many nicks on our windshield they have names and are like family. I call this phenomenon “stupid money”. How do you know when you have “stupid money”?

When you take empty suitcases on vacation to fill them up with items you buy while you are there; that’s stupid money.

When you go on vacation and buy a home while you are there, with cash, because you like the color; that’s stupid money.

When you go on vacation to an island and like it so much you buy the island; that’s stupid money.

When you decide to surprise your spouse and take them to Paris for dinner, then New York for Dinner again; that’s stupid money.

When you pay to have your yacht shipped to your favorite part of the world so you can sail it when you get there; that’s stupid money.

When you donate a brand new car to a charitable organization, anonymously; that’s stupid money.

I think every civilized person in the world would like to have “stupid money” as I just described it.

I learned a lot during my time in Amway. Over the past twenty five years I signed up in the Amway opportunity three or four different times. I have also been a distributor in many other programs as well.

I have had some great successes and some miserable failures. I love the industry though and knew that MLM was definitely the way to wealth for me and one day I would make it.

My thoughts today are very much the same. In fact I co-founded my own business training company called All-Star Success Alliance to help more people succeed in the marketing industry and we now have members in many countries around the world.

Successful Networkers Live a Balanced Life

Body – The successful networker is typically very concerned about their health; spends time either going for walks or works out often. It is no coincidence that the majority of successful companies in the industry are nutrition based.

The key to a Healthy Body is all about Moderation! Here are some common yet not so common tips to live by:

ALWAYS ask a lot of questions of your doctor or health care provider.

ALWAYS get a second opinion.66% of your health is under your direct control.

Your Body is a Temple – Treat your body like a temple; if you are taking drugs STOP; if you are smoking STOP. If you drink alcohol do it in moderation like once a week or not at all.

MOVE Your Body - Go for walks or runs often. Take the stairs at work. Park your car at the far end of the parking lot.

Drink Water and Juice - Drink at least 3 glasses of water and at least 2 glasses of juice everyday. Drink dark berry juice as often as possible for the antioxidant protection.

Healthy Stress Release - Find a healthy release for Stress; like Walking, Running, Hot Tub, Clean Something, Swim, Laugh, Sports or even Sex (Just Kidding).

NEVER Binge Eat - DO NOT substitute eating for anything else.

Take Nutritional Supplements - Find a good supplier of Nutritional supplements. There are some great tasting liquid drinks available on the market today that provide a good amount of nutrition.

Mind – The successful networker is someone who reads books more than the average person and is always in a learning mode. They shy away from negative input like toxic people and news. They love hearing success stories and studying what it takes to win. The younger marketers overlook the benefits of reading a great book.

A Day in the Life of a Successful Network Marketer

Picture this; it’s 9 am and you get up NOT because you have to BUT because you want to. You are excited to see the blessings the day has in store for you. You are excited to get something from the day instead of trying to get through the day.

You get up early now to get the children off to school and to workout instead of fighting rush hour traffic to get to a job you cannot stand.

You spend your morning hours meditating or reviewing your schedule for the day. You check your voicemail, emails and text messages. You return calls from your team as you and your spouse decide to go out for brunch after the rush hour traffic dies down.

Your work commute is 50 feet. Your typ ical time commitment for work is about 3 – 4 hours a day but that time is spread over a 10 - 12 hour period that you set. Your Smart Phone is your office and you take calls throughout the day from your team. Your business is wherever you are; you can work from anywhere. You spend the rest of your business day looking for more candidates you can set on the road to financial freedom.

In the Beginning

On the 9th day after a nice peaceful weekend God created Network Marketing!

Most people see Network Marketing as a 50 plus year old marketing sales strategy that was started by industry giants like Shaklee, Amway, Avon, etc. but networking has been around since the first humans walked the earth.

Network Marketing or MLM is the art of collaboratively working with others for a common goal. Team work makes the dream work. Today those goals and dreams usually involve a company selling products and\or services but that was not always the case.

The first man and woman on the planet started one of the first Networking structures. Families grow through Networking. Tribes grow through Networking. Town’s grow through Networking. Cities grow through Networking. Countries grow through Networking and the World grows through Networking.

One of the best known cases of a great Networker was Jesus Christ. Whether you are a believer in Jesus Christ or not, the man knew how to get people to follow him. He knew how to draw a crowd; was a man of few words but the words he spoke were powerful and life changing. Jesus was a great team builder as well. All he had to say was follow me and I will make you fishers of men; they dropped what they were doing and followed. To become very effective in your new business you need to say less to more people.

Now before you get worried that this is going to turn into a church sermon you can relax. My main goal here is to show you that Networking has been going on for a LONG LONG time. It is as much a part of us as anything else we do today. What has happened over the years is that negative stereotypes have crept in to our thoughts. Just the very mention of an MLM opportunity causes some people to make a cross with their fingers to ward off the evil that has come upon them.

New Networkers will often get the dreaded pyramid question from people they contact. What these people do not realize is everything we do is a pyramid. From the companies we work for to the government that is supposed to serve us. Even our family is a pyramid structure. Typically what they are trying to say when that questions is raised is “is this thing legal, is this thing safe or can I make any money with it.” I must tell you it has been so long since anyone has asked me that question I have even forgotten how to respond. Chapter 4 - Network Marketing Stages

Nearly all network marketers go through the following stages:

1. The Honeymoon Stage:

As a brand new network marketer you are excited!!! What if this thing REALLY WORKS? You can finally see your life getting better. You can see in the near future; the bills you have been worried about all disappearing. You can see the day when you have the option of going to work or calling in WELL! Or the day you tell your boss "I AM A WINNER AND WINNERS DON'T WORK FOR LOSERS".

You can also see the day when you and your family are living in the area of your choice and take the dream vacations you promised years ago. You can see the day when, if something were to happen to you, God forbid, your loved ones would be taken care of for the rest of their lives.

Believe me, when you can TRULY see things like that in your future, it is very easy to ge t EXCITED!!

This is the most important stage and it is here where most of the people who want more out of life fail the most. This is a very vulnerable time for you, because when you start thinking and doing these "new" things you will be in a unique class of people.

Most of your friends will think you are crazy when you tell them about your new business. This is why most people end up dead on the vine, before they even get started.

If you are in the "Honeymoon Stage" and are having difficulties, keep in mind that everyone will have an opinion. Remember no one can teach what they have not experienced. Only those who have gone before you can teach you how to get there.

Focus Focus Focus

Sounds funny but you would be surprised to know how many people go through life with NO PLAN at all. They have no idea what they want to do nor do they know what direction they should walk in. You know these people, they are the ones that can tell you what you should do for them but cannot even decide what they should be doing for themselves. These are the people who occupy an area to demand fairness as they block fairness from happening. These are the people who demand equal access as they block access. These are the people who demand equal pay as they block employees from earning ANY pay.

You must have a PLAN and the ability to stay focused long enough to achieve it. Men and women without vision will perish. One of the main reasons people burn out in the industry of Network Marketing is because they set unrealistic goals and they simply quit before they can achieve them. They think that after two weeks of talking to five people they should be well on their way to financial freedom and cannot understand why instead of five people on their team they have NONE.

In the past I have counseled people who have some very interesting goals regarding what they want to make in this industry. They think because their goal is one million in 6 months that they will get it. I love Jim Rohn’s question about one’s value.

What are you doing that makes you worth a million dollars to the market place? What value do you bring? What skills do you have that others do not? What Expertise do you bring to the table that others are still learning? You may want a million dollars BUT are you really worth a million dollars?

2. The Fight Stage:

As with some married couples, the honeymoon ends with the first fight. Perhaps you have boasted to a few of your unbelieving friends of your new victory over poverty. It's true that such a victory is real in your life, but things do not always go as planned. Tempers flare and frustration set in, resentment creeps in along with jealousy, criticism and gossip. You discover you still have these old habits haunting you. What you had boasted about losing has come back! You are embarrassed! You don't want to be disappointed again.

Now you face the danger of acting the part of a victorious business person. You think to yourself, "I'll just cover this up. I'll fake it until I make it. Some times this works but you need to have a few successes early on to move past this stage; you need to sponsor a few people. If you're not careful you will become busy doing nothing, making yourself believe that one day you will get started and build a solid business.

Rise to the Challenge

Even though Networking is very old most of us have lost the skill required to make it work in a profitable way. Sure we can recommend a good movie or restaurant but as soon as there is ANY type of compensation involved we freak out.

One of the main reasons we burn out is because we do not rise to the challenge. We do not see success in the time frame we set for ourselves and we throw in the towel.

We need to not only set good realistic goals but we need to allow time for them to happen. I have counseled many people who set very high goals for themselves and then tell me they only have 2 hours a week to work their business. That is NOT a realistic time commitment.

Rome was not built in one day nor can your business be built in one day. It will take time but you should see some fruits from your labor after a few months; IF you are doing the correct activity.

Understand that it will normally take 2 – 5 years of correct activity to achieve any substantial level of success. You should check with your Company or Team but based on my knowledge there are really only a few things that count as correct activity.

1) Sharing your Products or Services. 2) Sharing your Program or Opportunity. 3) Building or Promoting Events.

The good news is you do NOT need to spend 40 hours a week working your business to be considered full time. Full time ONLY requires 10 – 20 hours a week. BUT that time needs to be devoted to the activities I just mentioned. ANYTHING else is just preparation for those activities and does NOT count.

This is a quote from Oprah Winfrey regarding her new struggling TV Network OWN.

"Everybody has told me - Ted Turner has told me, Barry Diller has told me, Lorne Michaels has told me, David Geffen has told me - anybody who's ever worked with a channel, who's ever done anything, has said it takes three to five years," she said, adding, "You have to do the work. ... You do not have to pay attention to the criticism."

3. The Doubting Stage:

If not sponsored properly, a new network marketer will enter a doubting stage. It is like receiving a new pocket calculator or iPad as a gift. It's complete when it comes to you but you must understand how to operate it to get any benefit from it. Your sponsor should promise you that when you become a network marketer they will teach you all the things you need to know to have a profitable business.

As the inner war between the new habits and the old habits takes place, you may begin to doubt if this business will work for you. You begin to feel the burning need for more information about your business; you desire more truth. This is the point when your sponsor should enter and give you all the information and support you need to get through this stage. It is up to you to let your sponsor know what is going on. Lean on the Team and the System to get you through. As the power of the new habits give you constant victory over the old, you will reach a point when you will be set free from the old habits. The important thing we should mention in this stage; your business will work, but will you work your business?

If You Have a Dream Get a Plan

From the beginning we have touched on this, without a plan you have no road map to make your dreams a reality. Your Company or Team can help with this; remember to KEEP IT SIMPLE. Your success plan does NOT need to be complicated to be good. In fact the best plan is a simple one that anyone can understand and follow. If you want to be successful in the industry of Network Marketing you will need to promote an easy to understand and duplicatable plan. I had to learn this the hard way. 4. The Panic Search for Truth Stage:

To spare you from this stage you will need to PLUG IN [BIG TIME]! Listen to CD’s, watch videos, read books, review websites attend ALL functions both online and offline. These sources are a very important part of your growth as a new network marketer.

Team Work Makes the Dream Work

VERY FEW people even know what business they are in. They never realize they are in the PEOPLE business! I have not run across one successful person in this industry who did it by themselves. They all have teams of people around them who help make it happen. In traditional business you can hire good people but in Network Marketing you have to FIND good people.

Building a TEAM is the MOST important thing you do to maintain your business, and keep from burning out.

When you have a team of people who are counting on you and you are a person of integrity it is very tough to let those people down. I could never think about quitting because that action would be such a big disappointment to many people.

When you focus on the team instead of the company, product or service you remain focused on the things you can control. One of the biggest mistakes people make is they get all wrapped up in the product or service.

Be Happy

I am amazed by people who are not happy with their position in life but are not willing to do anything to change it. They blame the government, the weather, taxes, their spouse, their children, their education, their location, their skin color or their sex. ALL these issues can play a role in our success but the question is how big of a roll should it play? Should it control how happy we are? Should it control how successful we are?

Whatever you decide understand that it’s your decision. You are the only one who is in control of you. You can decide to take action or you can decide to sit and do nothing. You can decide to go out and talk to one more person or you can decide to watch one more episode of the Biggest Loser. It all comes down to the two E’s. You can choose to Educate yourself or Entertain yourself. Guess which one earns you the least amount of money? It’s your decision so be happy with it!

Multitudes of network marketers sleep in the silent stage.

Network marketers who can't leave the silent stage are very ineffective in sharing the ir business with others. Although they may be a busy person, their business is barren.

Chapter 5 – Network Marketing Rules

Here are eight Network Marketing rules to keep you on track and safe from burning out.

THE FIRST RULE in Network Marketing: KNOW THE GAME YOU’RE IN. Know your Industry. Know your Company. Know your Product or Service. And the hardest one of all is know thy self. Most people who work in the industry of Network Marketing think they are in the Nutrition business or the Cell Phone business or the Utility business or whatever product or service you sell business.

VERY FEW understand they are in the PEOPLE and Team Building business. NOT Even Jesus went after it by himself. He formed a team and they went out to Network around the world.

THE SECOND RULE in Network Marketing: DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT. You need to be laser focused on what you want; then lay out a good plan to reach it. What is your WHY? Is your WHY big enough to get you through the tough times. You also need to be man or woman enough to ask for help from someone skilled in developing a workable plan. Your plan needs to stretch you but be realistic. There is no point in having a goal to go to the moon without the means to build a space ship.

When setting goals set action goals that are totally under your control like how many people you speak to every day. These types of action goals will turn into million dollar incomes if you do them consistently. Set SMART Goals and SMART stands for: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely.

Your Goals and Dreams are a very important part of your success. One way to define them is to create a DREAM BOARD! A Dream Board is a visual picture of your Goals and Dream. A Dream Board is something you create from pictures and other items you have access to.

To create your Dream Board you will need to collect your favorite magazine clippings and pictures. Find images that move you; like the car, home or boat of your dreams. Find pictures of anything that inspires you. You will also need a large piece of construction paper and some glue.

Once you have a good selection of images and pictures; arrange them on your blank board. When you have them placed in the order you like; glue them in place.

A modern, online way to do this is available at www.concept4freedom.com . You can create a video dream board set to inspirational music with positive affirmations and images. There is a small monthly fee for this service.

THE THIRD RULE in Network Marketing: DECIDE WHAT YOU’RE WILLING TO GIVE UP. You may need to rearrange some things to make room for your business. Some things will need to be put on the back burner for a few months and others are just a BIG waste of time. I had to give up TV. TV is one of the biggest consumers of time I can think of; when you combine TV with Sports it’s even worse. Most of us have filled our lives with many time killers. We say yes to too many things then we complain about how little time we have for ourselves. Sound familiar?

THE FOURTH RULE in Network Marketing: FORM A PLAN OF ACTION. Find out what your Company or Team plan is; make sure it is something you can support 100%. If you cannot support it develop your own plan. Make sure it is one that others can rally around. Remember, without a team you have nothing.

THE FIFTH RULE in Network Marketing: ACHIEVE SUCCESS BY ASSOCIATING WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE. Being on the right team can make ALL the difference in your business success. Do not feel guilty about asking questions regarding your support team. Who they are; are they men and women of their word? Do they say what they mean and mean what they say? Can you count on them when times get tough? When the going gets tough the tough either get going or move on.

THE SIXTH RULE in Network Marketing: LIVE WITH PASSION AND BE HAPPY. Your attitude is critical to your success. In fact give me someone with the correct attitude and I can teach him or her everything they need for success.

A great attitude is a magnet to attract others to you and your business. Living with passion is another great attraction.

Work to get something from the day instead of trying to get through the day. Getting through the day means you have already conceded; you have given up on your dreams.

If you demand the day produce something of value it will comply. Search for the hidden treasures the day holds and treat each minute as a tremendous gift.

THE SEVENTH RULE in Network Marketing: LEARN HOW TO CONTACT AND INVITE. This one rule alone could make you a TON of money as you build your business.

Before we delve into this rule I need to layout the contact and invite pipeline or funnel. Anyone you talk to about your business will either be a SUSPECT – PROSPECT – CONTACT – TEAM MEMBER and/or TEAM BUILDER. Make no mistake; until you have a Team Builder you have NO Duplication happening.

A Suspect is someone you think could be a good prospect for your business.

A Prospect is someone you are actively contacting and moving into your pipeline.

A Contact is someone who is in your pipeline and you are exposing different aspects of your business to.

A Team Member is someone who has signed up on your team.

A Team Builder is someone who is duplicating your efforts and is actively building a team of their own.

Also the purpose of EVERY business contact or meeting, with people in your pipeline, is to invite them to the next meeting. The next meeting could be a 3 Way Conference Call, Webinar, 24 Hour Sizzle Line, Hotel Meeting, In Home Party, Another Website or Printed Material. Basically anything that moves them further through the pipeline is the next meeting or event. Understand that some of your contacts will move through this pipeline very quickly and others could take years.

There is a science behind proper contacting, inviting and events that you should be able to get from your support team. When it comes to events; you may not need every event but every event needs you. When attending events the best thing you can bring is a great attitude and a guest or two.

I have spoken to some people who worry that a particular event may not be suitable for their guest so they try to pick and choose; that can be a big mistake. Let me explain.

In 1992, I was building a nice team with a company that was growing very fast. We were poised to take over the world; as they say. One of the company’s best opportunity presenters would visit Denver often to help us build locally. His name was Ben and his presentations were awesome. I had seen him present a half dozen times and was always amazed at his professional and polished presentation skills.

I thought the next time he came to town I would get as many people as possible to the event. A month or so later he was scheduled to come back to town and I was excited. I contacted many people to come out to see this great presentation. The night of the event I had three prospects show up and I was even more excited. As Ben started his presentation I was on the edge of my seat the whole time; captivated by every word he spoke. He did another fantastic job!

After the event was over I could not wait to hear what my guests thought so I turned to them and said. “Was that not the best presentation you have ever seen?” Two of them said they were not impressed and the other one said it was ok. I was stunned at their response. I learned a valuable lesson that evening. You can’t say the right thing to the wrong person and you can‘t say the wrong thing to the right person.

I also learned NOT TO PREJUDGE, BUT to INVITE everyone to everything and let the powers of the universe handle the rest.

THE EIGHTH RULE in Network Marketing: LEARN HOW TO MASTER THE 3 WAY CALL. This is the simplest rule but the hardest to get people to do. The reason it’s so tough is because it goes against everything we have been taught growing up; even in the traditional business world.

Think about it; in school you could not ask the kid sitting next to you for answers on a test without getting in real trouble. At work you can not ask the person in the cubical next you to finish your work because you feel like taking the rest of the day off. We are NOT in the habit of asking for help because we feel it shows a weakness that could be exploited by our competition.

Most people feel that asking for help makes them less successful; but the successful networker ALWAYS uses the resources around them and that includes their active upline.

To master the 3 way call you must remember three things: 1) Make the introduction as quickly as possible. 2) NEVER interrupt. 3) ONLY speak when asked to by your upline support person.

While building the same company in 1992 I learned another valuable lesson about 3 way support calls.

Richard, one of my upline Diamonds, was very good on the phone with prospects. He was knowledgeable about the products and was plugged directly into the company management. He was also making over $40,000.00 a month.

My prospect was a very successful Real Estate Broker named Diane, who was making over $20,000.00 a month. You may ask what does a successful person making $20,000.00 a month want more than anything else? More money and more time to enjoy it!!

When I told Diane about Richard’s success she was eager to speak with him on the phone. Like a good soldier I made the 3 way conference connection and remained silent.

Richard and Diane spoke on the phone for the better part of a half hour; but to my horror they did not talk about the business at all. NO compensation overview. NO Product features. NO Company support information; NOTHING.

Instead, what Richard did masterfully was ask Diane about herself. She spoke about her success in Real Estate and the challenges she had with her 50 agents. She talked about still having to work LONG hour’s everyday to maintain her income and lifestyle. Richard must have read a page or two out of “How to Win Friends & Influence People” because she was talking up a storm.

As the call was coming to a close I was panic stricken. I thought “Great” now I will need to fill in all the gaps Richard, my brilliant upline, forgot to mention.

Right before he left the call he simply said. “Diane it was great speaking with you.” “I look forward to meeting you next month when I come to Denver.” “And I want to welcome you to the team.” She said “Thank you Richard for your time.” Then he was gone.

Before I could open my mouth to apologize for the horrible call she said. “What an awesome guy and he was so knowledgeable about the business too.”

I’m thinking, to myself, what call was she on? But I decided to let her continue. She said that she’s really looking forward to meeting him next month and that she was comfortable with moving forward with the business.

I was stunned, but not stupid so I agreed with everything she said and signed her up the following week into my business.

Richard performed one of the best 3 way support calls I have ever heard. That call is STILL my benchmark for all 3 way support calls that I do to this day.

People do not care how much you know until they know how much you care. Let’s review what happened.

I did my part by making the connection then saying NOTHING else during the call. Richard engaged Diane by asking a lot of questions to get her talking about herself. People LOVE talking about themselves.

The most important thing he gave her was the comfort she needed to move forward. NOT by providing more facts about the company; but by making a personal connection.

He closed her on the next event so smooth all she could say was yes! He even signed her up by welcoming her to the team. I get chills just writing about the details of the call again. It was truly an awesome thing to witness.

The Hand: The Commitment or Dream

Would you expect to be healthy if the only time you ate a meal was once a week? Of course not! You would not survive long. Do you think you will be any better off financially if you waited until a new president or congress was elected or the economy got stronger? I hope not! You would have a long wait.

Before we dig into the many facets of commitment lets define the word commitment.

COMMITMENT:

1. The ACT or STATE of being committed. 2. The ACT of Pledging or Engaging oneself. 3. A Promise or Obligation. 4. An Engagement or Involvement in something.

Based on the previous definitions we are all committed to many things in our lives.

1. We have Spiritual Commitments 2. We have Family Commitments 3. We have Friendship Commitments 4. We have Job and\or Business Commitments

Your Commitment or Dream contains three key areas. Your Belief, Your Commitment and Your Activity!

In your life, as well as your business, you need the proper "nourishment" to achieve the best results. Each day or week, you simply must find the time to do something constructive for or in your business. You will be pleased with the outcome; a very healthy business!

To strengthen your belief you will need to work on your belief in the following areas: 1) Industry 2) Opportunity 3) YOU!

The Industry - Today there are still people who do not believe in the Industry of Network Marketing. Millions of people are making very good money in the industry. Very famous people like Donald Trump, Warren Buffett and Robert Kiyosaki all have invested in or own Network Marketing companies.

The Opportunity – Each opportunity is different but your belief in your opportunity is critical to your success.

YOU – Your belief in the Industry and Opportunity can be enhanced with more knowledge of both but your belief in YOU maybe your biggest challenge. In most cases we are our own worse enemy. We talk ourselves out of doing the things we need to be successful all the time.

To strengthen your commitment you will need to be in constant contact with your support team. I recommend daily contact in the beginning. You will also need to make a commitment to your WHY. Is your why strong enough to keep you going when the going gets tough?

Last but not least you will need to make and honor commitments to your maker, yourself, your family, your company, your team and your sponsor that you will stay plugged in for the next 6 months to a year with consistent and diligent effort.

To strengthen your activity just focus on the things that produce income such as Sharing your Products or Services, Sharing your Program or Opportunity and Building or promoting Events.

Look again at the diagram of the hand. Remember, that the hand itself stands for "The Commitment or Dream". A daily or weekly time for your business is all important. This is your regular contact with your Dream. Here are some suggestions for starting your daily or weekly routine.

1. Set aside a day or days for your business per week. As mentioned previously, it is important to have some consistent time set aside in your daily schedule. Note: If you spend just five to ten hours a week on your business, you will be able to develop a network that will prosper and grow indefinitely. Remember, be patient; Rome was not built in a day. You should give yourself at least two years of concentrated effort before passing judgment.

2. Be consistent. A hit and miss pattern is an indication that you are not as serious as you need to be about your business. Computer workers use the expression, "garbage in - garbage out". You will get out of your business what you put into it.

3. Be a student of your business. Learn from the people who have gone before you. They have the knowledge you need; they are ready and willing to share that knowledge with you. Your sponsor wants you to succeed in your new endeavor. Why would they teach you how to fail? Most people can do that all by themselves.

4. Begin each day with the right attitude . Focus on Your Dream, this is MOST Important!! Start each day with a positive attitude. Open your heart and mind to new opportunities that will help you in your business. Allow your sponsor the opportunity to teach, coach and direct you on how the business works. Tell them what your Goals and Dreams are; share your concerns with them. They are there to help you, not the other way around; you should expect them to do so.

5. Set business and personal goals for yourself IN WRITING! You should have multiple goals set that you plan to obtain in your business. This is VERY Important! Without goals, you have nothing to shoot for. When setting goals, don't be afraid to set them high and strive for them.

(1) You need to understand that anything worth having takes time to build. (2) Network marketing is not a "get rich quick scheme". (3) There are many old habits you will have to fight on a daily basis. (4) You have made the most important step already now stay teachable and coachable. The strength or power of our commitment is determined by our WHY.

Now all that sounds wonderful but here’s the problem. If our why is not strong enough, our commitment is weak, so our actions are few and far between; we see very little results, our why is NOT satisfied and we lose the strength and power to continue or journey.

So what’s the ANSWER? Believe it or NOT the answer is much easier than the PROBLEM.

People WILL NOT do what it takes to build their dream if their WHY is weak. Sometimes it takes great pain to move off that rusty nail. Sometimes it takes one more layoff to decide ENOUGH is ENOUGH!

TRULY, if your WHY is big enough the HOW is very easy.

YOU will need to decide what commitment MEANS to you. Are you a person of your word? When you tell someone something can they count on you? Can your Family and Friends count on you? Can your Company or Team members count on you?

What does commitment LOOK like to you? In your world of commitment can people be trusted to do what they say? Do you have ANYONE in your warm circle that you can count on and vice-versa?

If the answer is NO then you need to work on your circle. I would also venture to say that you are having a difficult time building your business as well.

What does commitment FEEL like to you? In your world of commitment do you feel comfortable with the level of YOUR commitment and the level of commitment from people around you?

Do you have ANYONE in your warm circle that you feel committed to? If the answer is NO I would guess that this is causing you difficulties in building your business also.

STEP 1: ONE Body (The Team & System)

Personal growth depends on being in the body of your company and your upline support system. You should not be a “Lone Ranger" in your network marketing business. The very act of becoming a network marketer is an act of commitment to others who will be on your network team.

Can you imagine a family without a baby being born into it? That's possible, but can you imagine a baby surviving without someone to love and care for it? Hardly! A baby would not survive if left alone, and your chances of survival are not good if you do not join the body.

Babies need constant love, care and attention to survive. They must be surrounded by people who are concerned about their survival. Without your company, your upline support system and your sponsor you will have a tough time building your business. Plug into the support and training system and watch your business grow.

STEP 2: Two Habits Old And New

Did you know that you now have two business habits rather than one? Since birth, you have had an old habit and now with your business you have a new habit. One seeks a failure conscious mode and the other a success conscious mode.

For years to come, as you stay involved in the networking experience, you will be open to new truths about these two habits. Think of the old habit within you as though it were the law of gravity or failure. This law constantly pulls objects or people downward, it’s always in effect and never stops working. Because of it you cannot fly or even float above the ground for a few seconds.

Now, think of the new habit within you as though it were the basic law of aerodynamics or success. Simply stated, this law means that the wing of an airplane causes it to fly as it moves through the air. The law is in effect when the conditions are met. As long as you honor the terms of that law, you will function by it.

As the new habit starts to function causing the love and goodness to flow, you will be assured of victory. The minute you do not allow the new habit to function, the old habit, like the law of gravity or failure, will pull you down. Success in your business can be accelerated by using your sponsor, upline, the team support system and the corporation, like the plane uses its wings to lift it up to new heights. If you stay with the program, you will be lifted and held up until you can fly by yourself.

One way your new habit functions is by taking your eyes off yourself; putting them on someone else's goals and dreams. For most people this is not an easy task. Most of our lives we are taught to look out for number one. In your business, your team and your upline are number one. Few people are willing to change, but we all have a choice. That choice will determine which habit will be in control and how profitable you are.

You must continually choose which habits you will follow. Remember, your new habit will not cause you to fail however; it will cause you to know the fruits of success. Today, as you live your life, remember that you should be committed to your choice. Choose the new habit, and see all the wonders you can achieve. If you work this plan and your business, there will be no limit to your success.

Can you remember what is written in the center of the hand?

That's right, it’s The Commitment or Dream. Where will you be five or ten years down the road if your Commitment or Dream does not take root NOW?

One of the hardest things for a network marketer to realize is that YOUR OLD HABIT CANNOT BE REFORMED! When you try to live in the old business habit and produce new fruit, you will struggle. If you have orange roots, you produce orange fruit. When you have apple roots, you produce apple fruit. The nature of the root always determines the nature of the fruit.

Your old habit is still producing the same kind of fruit it did before you were a network marketer. It's like two former alcoholics; both have kicked the habit, as far as they or anyone else could tell. But one of them is so proud of himself he takes "just a little drink" to show he knew when to stop. As a result, he fell right back into alcoholism.

Don't fool yourself. Remember the old business habit got you where you are today. If you want things to change let your new habit take a crack at it. You belong to your choice.

STEP 3: Sources of Inadequate Knowledge

"I want to know what's going on here". How many times have you heard or said something like that? Nobody likes to be kept in the dark about things that concern them.

Everyone sometimes feels a need to get to the truth of the matter. Yet, around the world, there are millions of people trying to find meaning in life through inadequate sources of knowledge. You will learn several subtle but dangerous sources of inadequate knowledge, which friends may use as you seek to share your new business with them.

Later we will concentrate on the true sources to obtain knowledge about your business or anything else in life. Have you ever met someone who was so captivated by some false idea that they could not even hear what you were trying to say?

Unfortunately, in the society we live in today, we are not taught the principles of success. When most people think of success they, think of having a lot of money, but that is not the total picture.

If you could ask a thousand people what success means to them, you would get a thousand different answers. So, it is not the meaning of success we will address, but rather the principles that you should apply in your business to bring it about.

The educational system we all know today is considered to be one of the best in the world. It was designed to give common people enough education so they could, in turn, go out into the Industrial work place and get a job to support themselves and their families.

In this system, the more schooling you have, supposedly, the better your chances are to get a good job paying more money (sorry for the contradiction in terms). We should all know by now that there is a limit to the income that a conventional education can bring us. In most cases the "A" students wind up teaching and the "B" students wind up working for the "C" students.

A large percentage of the people, who have been labeled a success, have had very little school housing, but have still gone on to greatness. We should state now, there is nothing wrong with a good education, and maybe one day, you will make enough money to afford one. In your current business, you will not need any fancy degrees or titles to become successful. But if you already have a fancy degree, don't worry, you should be able to overcome this handicap and become successful in spite of it.

If you wanted to know about being a successful doctor, would you ask your insurance agent? That may sound stupid, but that is exactly what we do sometimes in making decisions about our business. Your insurance agent can give you their opinion, but it will probably not be relevant. You must go to the source; you must find a successful doctor and ask him.

To get even a better idea, you should ask several successful doctors, what it’s like. Now if you ask a person who has just graduated from medical school, but has not practiced any medicine, what it’s like being a successful doctor, could they tell you? Of course not! They have not had that experience so they do not know what it's like. If you really want to know if your business works, ask someone who is working the business, not your nosey neighbor or the milkman. You need to ask the successful network marketers what they are doing right, not what others are doing wrong.

Philippians 4:8, states "Brethren, whatsoever things are true , whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure , whatsoever things are lovely, and whatsoever things are of good report : if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things".

When you check out your company make sure it is based on these principles and it will stand the test of time.

"It's a tradition"! "We've always done it this way". We've always been poor". "We cannot change". Do any of these sound familiar?

How do traditions develop? Someone in the past decided that a particular teaching, custom or ceremony should be repeated again and again. For that person, the custom was extremely important and had to be preserved, not forgotten. However, often the deep rooted meaning of the teaching is lost.

Tradition can become a jail cell, imprisoning people who might find the true meaning of the original teaching, custom or ceremony, if it were expressed in some other way.

Can you think of people you know who are trapped by tradition or their unwillingness to change? People who are missing the true meaning of life? We all feel trapped sometimes due to our lack of education or knowledge, but that is wrong. None of us are trapped unless we CHOOSE to be.

Now, can you recall what the forefinger on the hand stands for?

If you remember what it is you must be growing your new habit. It stands for your New and Old Habits.

The funny thing about an idea whose time has come; you could give up your dreams and quit tomorrow and your company would still keep growing without you. Think and Grow Rich!

ALL of the sections in this plan are important, but pay close attention to STEP 4, because your success is directly proportional to your understanding of its contents.

STEP 4: Four Sources of True Knowledge

If you want to find true knowledge of how your business or anything else works, you must be teachable and coachable. What you are taught comes easier when the people who are doing the teaching exemplify those teachings in their lives.

The first source of knowledge you have available to you is your ACTIVE Upline. These are the people who are making money in your business. They should not be hard to find. Remember, they must be ACTIVE if they are going to teach you how to be successful!

You might think of your Upline this way: You want to be a great football player. You have no outstanding coordination, nor are you physically able to play football well. Yet, you will try! You run until you are exhausted. You pass with all your strength. Unfortunately, the best you can do is not good enough. Knowing you have failed, you go to the sidelines in defeat.

Then a man walks up to you and introduces himself. You know he is one of the greatest football players in the world. He makes you a strange offer. He explains he has some spare time to help you develop your strength and muscle tone. He also offers to put his knowledge of the game into your mind. To top it off he will do it free of charge! You agree to the offer. In no time you are back on the field passing with more accuracy and running with more speed than you ever thought possible! Your mind races through the plays, you recall every one.

The crowd cheers you on! You are playing the game of a professional. Yet, in your heart, you know why you are playing such a brilliant game. You are humbled by the experience! You know the true source of your actions. Now you have the power to share that experience with others. Your business will have a VERY HIGH success rate if you use your Upline and the team system.

The second source of knowledge in your business comes from live, recorded and written information provided by your company and team. In this age of technology, CD\DVD’s, websites, videos and webinars have become phenomenal teaching tools. Almost everyone has access to the Internet which you can utilize to gain information about your business and you should take advantage of the opportunity to use them.

If you are a member of the ASA Network you have a major advantage. I call this the Golden Business Solution. ASA is an industry leader in success training and motivational information. You will learn relevant information to build a profitable business. Listening to ASA TV at least one hour a day will do wonders for your business. Some of the most successful leaders and teachers in the business world will become your personal help mates. You will be able to take advantage of their knowledge and share it with others. "The person with the most positive viewing hours wins".

The third source of knowledge comes from books. In the modern age of the internet this is a tough one for most people to believe. We are never excited about reading anything unless it has pictures in it. If you are "broke", guess what? "You Need to Read"! If you are not doing well in your business, guess what? "You Need to Read more of the Right Books"!

There are several books I would like to suggest you start with. They are The Richest Man in Town, Think and Grow Rich, The Go-Giver, The Richest Man in Babylon, How to Win Friends and Influence People, The Magic of Thinking Big, How to Stop Worrying and Start Living, Rhinoceros Success, Skill With People, Greatest Miracle In The World and of course The Bible.

Most people fail to realize that these Books contain the answers to basically every question you have, whether it's about your business or life in general. There are many quality books you should get, just ask your sponsor for a list.

Note: If you make it a point to read at least 15 minutes a day, in time, you will not believe the results. There are no limitations to the mind except those we place on ourselves. Both poverty and wealth are the offspring of thought. Feed your mind like you feed your body and it will feed your pocket.

The fourth source of knowledge will come from the events. This by far is the most EXCITING! By attending all the events, (if applicable) you will get the chance to associate with the winners in your business. You will have the opportunity to ask them questions, share your thoughts and concerns. They are there because they want to help you succeed.

That's right, the thumb, One Body. By attending these events, you will see how average people, not much different than yourself, succeed at business. They look like ordinary people on the outside, but like you, they have a commitment and dream for a better life. Events are very important to you if you want to get your business going.

If you have come this far in the plan, congratulations are in order! You are a SUPER STAR! Most people you will meet are brain dead and they are just waiting for their bodies to catch up. A funny thing happens to you when you hang around people who are brain dead; your brain dies too.

But luckily, the same principle applies when you hang around winners; your brain starts to wake up and you become a WINNER! You may doubt this fact but the truth is all around you. If you meet someone who is brain dead RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!

There are other sources of knowledge you will encounter, but these are the most important. Now, it's time to summarize again. What are the basic truths you have studied about this business through these past five steps?

STEP 5: The SIX, TEN Principle

By now you should have a pretty good idea whether you want to build your business or not. Keep in mind, when you become a network marketer, you do not have to build the business to remain in good standing. In fact, thousands of people become network marketers to take advantage of the discounts you get by ordering the product and services at close to wholesale.

Other people will be interested in the professional sales aspect of the business. Even a small retail business is a very good part time option for some people.

What does the Six, Ten Principle mean? It means that there will always be at least six people in your life who will permit you to share your new business with them. If approached correctly, with L.O.V.E, they will get involved with you because they are curious about this change they observed in your lifestyle. Also there will be at least ten more who will be doubting Thomas’s but will eventually come around if you treat them with respect and kindness. Remember, even if you decide not to build the business, you still need at least six people to carry you OUT of this world.

Finally, there will be quite a few who will be, what I call, Brain Dead. You have a great desire to share your new freedom with them but they will not understand. My advice to you is to move away from these people as fast as you can. Do not call them a loser or kill their cat. Love them, pray for them and your business will grow.

Think about the homeless people in your town who stand on the corner begging for money or boldly approach you on the street and asking for 25 cents. They are bold because they have nothing to lose. What they do not understand is that the same energy they are spending begging for money would make them a superstar in the Network Marketing industry.

Now you may be thinking how can I find six people who see the opportunity as I see it? Think about how you were contacted and do the same.

Finally, if Jim Jones the cult leader could find several hundred people willing to drink poison Kool-Aid and die, surly we can all find at least six people who want to LIVE Financially Free!!

Your success in your business is totally in your hands. The business will work for you if you work the business. That is a fact! Now that we have come to the end of the survival portion of the book; we hope you have seen what the awesome industry of Network Marketing has to offer!!

Chapter 7 - Power Circles & Jelly Beans

To take the Six Ten Principle to the next level, look at creating a Power Circle. Your Power Circle starts with your 5-6 Core Team Members and expands out to 20 or more Power Associates; then 100 Expanded Power Associates.

In a perfect world your Power Circle would be created by your Team and flow from you in a nice even pattern. If you have spent any time building teams you know this is NOT how it works.

The first thing you need to accept is that YOU are responsible for your ENTIRE Power Circle. If your 5-6 Core Circle members are strong they will be a big help but the ultimate responsibility rests with you.

As you build your Core Circles your leaders may or may NOT come from the people you personally sponsor. As your team grows you are looking for the leaders, in each leg, who are serious about their business. When you identify them or sponsor them add them to your Core Circle count.

For example if A sponsors B and B sponsors C and C is the leader in that leg; C moves to your inner Core Circle. More details on this subject under High Tech Tap Rooting.

The Jelly Beans are a visual tool to help keep track of your Power Circle progress. To set this up you will need: 1) 100 Jelly Beans 2) Two Glass Jars with tops.

Pour ALL the Jelly Beans into one jar. As you sponsor someone, place one Jelly Bean from the full jar into the empty one. When you have moved ALL the Jelly Beans from the first jar to the second jar you will be Financially Free!! Chapter 8 - How To Be or Become a Great Sponsor

1. A person who vouches or is responsible for a person or thing. 2. A person who makes a pledge or promise on behalf of another.

With that said most people are very confused when it comes to sponsoring or referring someone into their program.

1. Some think the relationship is that of an Employer Employee. 2. Some think the relationship is that of a Parent and Child.

Few see the relationship of a Server or Giver!

Chapter 9 - Network Marketing Profile Types

Nearly all network marketers fall into one or more of the following profile types. Some are very productive and some will be road blocks to your success.

The Salesman – A lot of people I meet think you have to be a good sales person to be good at network marketing and that is not true at all.

In fact really good sales people burn out quickly in the industry because their efforts are NOT easily duplicated. They are very good at getting people to buy whatever they are selling but the new person cannot go out and do the same thing.

The Celebrity – People who are well known before they join a network marketing company can build teams fast due to their fame. The problem with the Celebrity is their success also cannot be duplicated. They can still do well in the industry but they must become very good at plugging their team into a good support system.

The Promoter – Everyone loves a good show and the Promoter is good at getting people to the opportunity. As long as the opportunity and support system are sound the Promoter can become very successful and their actions CAN BE duplicated over time.

The Jumper - If you have not seen this phenomenon yet you will. There are a fair amount of people in the network marketing industry who like every opportunity that is shown to them so they join EVERYTHING. They jump from one opportunity to the next without any regard for the people they are leaving behind in their wake.

The Burned Out Jumper - These people burn themselves out on one opportunity then go into the witness protection program for months at a time. They do not return phone calls, emails or texts. But one day you will get a call from them about the next hot deal that they are VERY excited about.

For these people it’s ALL about the money and they have very little concern for the people they sponsor. If they cannot speak to you or return your phone calls during normal times what makes you think they are concerned enough about you to help during tough times? The heart of the jumper is suspect and they are rarely accountable in the ir business dealings. Any opportunity they bring should carry a high degree of suspicion.

The Worker Bee – Normally you would want a lot of Worker Bees in your business but Worker Bees waste a lot of time working on non-value added things. They are at every meeting but never invite guess to join them. They spend a lot of time organizing files and preparing their list of things to do to get started, but they never get started. The Worker Bee is a working procrastinator.

The Stealth Marketer – When the Internet became popular a new type of Networker came into play. The Stealth Marketer is one you never see and never talk to. They never use their real name and NEVER display any real pictures of themselves on any profile. Even if they sponsor you in a program you do not hear from them. Their plan is to get rich without talking to a single person. They only market online through scheme type programs that usually promise great wealth for signing up and blasting out emails to large lists of people. Where there is no accountability there is very little credibility. I recommend you stay clear of the Stealth Marketer.

The Internet Marketer or E-Marketer – Marketing on the Internet is very sexy so everyone wants to do it. Internet Marketing is a skill that comes naturally to some but takes a fair amount of time and skill to master. Internet Marketing works; I use it all the time. The biggest challenge with this type of marketing is it’s a numbers game. To be effective through Internet Market you have to reach thousands of cold market contacts instead of hundreds of warm market contacts.

The Pretender – The Pretender always seems to say the right things but you never see any evidence of their work. They say they are talking to a lot of people but you never hear from anyone who is interested in the opportunity. Much like the Worker Bee the Pretender will not produce any real success.

The Heavy Hitter – Everyone wants to sponsor the BIG FISH. The Heavy Hitter is the person who has been in the industry for a few years and has made or is making full time money. They have a team built and also have a system that they plug their team into. Heavy Hitters are difficult to sponsor if you are not one yourself. BUT if you get one just try to hang on for the ride.

The Self Promoter – Self Promoters are Big Fish who want everyone to know it. Un- like the Promoter the Self Promoter is ONLY interested in being the center of attention. Everything they do is for or about them. They suggest that by jumping on their team you will be successful as well.

Success is very possible by working with the Self Promoter but the danger is your future is based upon someone else’s success and not a system. If that person turns out to be a bad guy your financial future and possibly your reputation will be at risk. Also any Self Promotion that is not based on a team strategy or system is NOT easy to duplicate.

The Ignorant on Fire – This was me in the beginning. They told me what to do and I just believed enough in Bennie to get it done. NO Fear, NO Shame and NO Reservation. The ignorant on fire can be extremely effective in the beginning. As long as the team support system is strong; they will earn many checks before they understand how the compensation plan works.

The Knowledge on Ice – Many networkers have this affliction. They know way too much for their own good. They cannot get past the statistics that most people fail. Chapter 10 - Network Marketing Survival Strategies:

1) DO NOT get caught in the hype of the industry. Focus on your TEAM and try to stay away from the hype of the product and \or service. ALL companies have good products but the thing that will make you and your team grow is the uniqueness of your team. What do you and your teams bring to the table?

2 - 8 years MINIMUM, stay away from the next HOT deal that blows through town. Most are done and gone in 6 months. If you do join the next hot thing just UNDERSTAND that most fail within the first 6 months to a year.

Chapter 15 - Internet Trivia

A Brief History

Toward the end of the 1960's, the U.S. Department of Defense was searching for ways to safeguard communications from nuclear attack. Until that time, communications systems were rather like a string of Christmas tree lights. If one "light" went out, so did all the subsequent lights - and there went your communications link.

So instead of having a single "control center," they distributed the various communication links across a network. The network was so designed that if any portion of it went down, that portion would be isolated from the rest of the network, which remained interconnected without it. Instead of a "hub," with all stations connected to the center, the new system was more like a "grid" - or "web."

Eventually a new set of technical standards arose, called "TCP/IP" (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol). This permitted a unified interconnection of different types of computers into this new "inter-net." These days everyone wants to build their business online. I was on the Internet before it even had the name “Internet”. Back then we were posting bulletin board messages back and forth to news groups. I can remember seeing the first few websites and wondering if it would ever catch on. Boy did it ever!

Today it would be hard to imagine our day to day life without the Internet or some form of it. Now with things moving to “The Cloud” who knows what tomorrow will bring.

As much as things change some things stay the same. Many people try to build their business online and find it hard if not impossible to do. The main people I see making money online are the people selling tools and systems to naive newbie’s who don’t know any better.

You have to love all these Internet Guru’s who claim to have the next best system to build your networking business with the press of a button. The next time they tell you that, ask them what was the last Network Marketing Company they built?

Odds are they have NEVER built one and never will. The truth of the matter is if they had a system that could do it; they would put the system to work personally to build their own residual income.

Proceed SLOWLY online until you know what you are doing. You could spend $1000s of dollars on tools and systems that simply DO NOT WORK! There are FREE training systems you can access to get started.

The best way to start your business is by reaching out to people you know. If you don’t know anyone get a free YouTube or Facebook account and start making some new friends as soon as possible.

Your Warm Market and their warm market will be your most profitable market over time. Most people say they are not comfortable talking to their warm market about their program; but your biggest success will come from people who know you and TRUST YOU; the people who know and trust them and so on.

Think about it, most big deals are done with people you know not strangers. A great referral from a friend is the person or company you are likely to do business with over an unknown person or company. It really comes down to your belief! If you do not believe in your program chances are no one else will either.

ANY time you market online you need to understand that it’s a Numbers Game! It takes ten times more contacts online to achieve the same amount of success from warm market sources.

THE SECRET to ONLINE marketing is to get your new contact OFFLINE as quickly as possible!

I use the social networks like FaceBook and others (see resource page) to make a few new friends. DO NOT just SPAM them with your link.

Reach out to them with FORM – Family, Occupation, Recreation, and Message. Find out what they do for a living. Find out what they do for fun. Find out what they do online for business. I like to ask them “what is your passion?”

Once you make contact with someone online, through a social network or chat, your entire goal is to get them offline ASAP. You do this by reaching out to them and getting more contact information.

The best way to get their contact information is to supply yours and ask for theirs. Get their Skype ID, their email and their best contact phone number. Keep your contact with them professional. You do not need to know any personal details about them right away.

Now that you have them in a one on one conversation you can develop a business relationship that can lead to sharing your business with them.

Chapter 17 - Building a "BIG" Business!

People, who are looking to build a large business, will need to sponsor individuals who have BIG DREAMS and aspirations!! You will need to work with the raw materials of your business; PEOPLE. Learn how to reach people through the FREE Social Networks like FaceBook, LinkedIn and ASA Network. Make a "LIST of NAMES" and send a copy to your sponsor or upline as soon as possible. This is a list of potential members of your organization, your network.

Make your list from sources of people you know, not just names. Sources like Church, School, Bowling League and Work. Don't prejudge people! Say less to more people! Show your friends, neighbors and family your business first. Show your occupational friends your business as well. Probably the biggest source of people will be the new friends you meet.

Remember, as long as you live, you will have to share this planet with PEOPLE. Stick out your hand and say "HI". It works. That statement stops most of us from building a business. You may ask; why? Well, the biggest fear people have, other than the fear of failure, is the fear of people. Very few people are lucky enough NOT to have it, however, most of us do and we hate it.

Do you know anyone that was born a salesman? Believe it or not we all were born that way. When you were born, did you or did you not sell the doctor on the fact that you were very much alive? We have some good news for you. ALL fear can be overcome. However, the best way to overcome your fear is to confront it. Easier said than done, I know; but you must beat it. You can if you think you can!

I remember the first time a friend of mine spoke in front of a group of people. There were about thirty to forty people at this meeting. When he was called up front, he was scared to death! He knew that if he just took a deep breath and jumped in, things would work themselves out. After it was all over, he felt good. Now there is no magic formula that will allow you to beat fear. He was no expert when it came to speaking and he made his share of mistakes, but fear took a back seat that day.

Chapter 20 - Excuses

The most commonly used excuses. Any excuse will work, but very few are valid. There are no limitations to the mind except those we place on it. Both poverty and riches are the offspring of thought.

1. Excuse: I do not have the time.

Answer: Everyone has the same 24 hours a day. The key is not how many hours you work but rather how you use each hour. Become more productive and you will have more time. You have tried working hard; now start working smart at the same time.

2. Excuse: I love what I do now.

Answer: That's good to hear, but most people do not. How much would you love it if they stopped paying you tomorrow? And if you like it that much, keep it.

3. Excuse: I do not need any extra money.

Answer: Congratulations, you are in the upper 2% in the US who are debt free. Your house, car, boat, furniture and appliances are all paid for. At the end of the month all your credit cards are paid off and neither you nor your spouse is working to make ends meet. You're right; you do not need any extra money.

4. Excuse: I do not understand how the system works.

Answer: Why let mystery cause you to fail? Do you understand the chemistry of digestion? Does your lack of understanding keep you from eating?

5. Excuse: People will laugh and make fun of me.

Answer: He who laughs last laughs best. They who laugh, are in the dark, and are usually broke; consider the source. They know not at what they stumble.

6. Excuse: Not now maybe later.

Answer: The time and day is now. Tomorrow is the day when the idle man works, the thief becomes honest and the drunkard sober. Tomorrow is a period in time, nowhere to be found, except perhaps, in the fools calendar.

7. Excuse: My friends are important to me and I don't want to lose them.

Answer: All the more reason why you have to share your business with them. If they are truly your friends, they will want you to do well. Real friends will not make fun of your dreams and goals.

8. Excuse: I heard people have lost a lot of money doing this.

Answer: Any venture not done correctly will probably lose money. Follow the simple steps in this book and you will not lose money you will make money. The safest way through a mine field is in the footsteps of others.
