One night while returning home alone, I no-ticed a white van with two males inside. Itwas parked at the entrance to the condo-

miniums I lived in. I proceeded past them and parkedmy car. As I backed up into my parking space, thevan sat with its headlights fixed on my whiteCamaro. I didn’t get out of my car; I knew somethingwas up. I immediatelypulled out my preciousbaby G26 and sat withmy finger off the trigger. Can you believe that thevan pulled up to the rightside of my car? Theywere waiting for some-thing. I kept great con-centration. Doors werelocked. I’m still feelingsafe and secure. The pas-senger of the van lookedover at me and could seemy GLOCK resting onthe steering wheel, wait-ing and ready. The driverleaned over to look at my GLOCK and decidedto hit the road. Theybacked up and wentaround the end of thecomplex. I figured theydidn’t know where theywere, or they were goingto come back when I gotout of my car. I knew Ididn’t have a chance if Ididn’t have a licenseplate number, so I pulled around the front of thecomplex and turned out the lights to my car. I waitedfor them to find their way out, got behind them, wrote down the license plate number and wenthome and called the police. One officer stayed withme and the other went to their residence. The twomen told the officer they thought I looked familiar. He told them not to ever bother me again, especiallysince I was well protected. So chalk this one up toMr. Glock. I’m thankful I had my GLOCK that night

and I know I have the knowledge and training nec-essary to protect myself and my two handsome boys.I have a pink Pearce grip on my G26, for girls only.See, if something happened to the GSSF Secretary, then who would you call?

Girls, GSSF is not just for men, it’s great practiceand we all need it. Our husbands, boyfriends, or dad-

dies can’t always bethere to protect us. I feelit’s a smart choice formore females to join usat our competitions, notonly for a good, fun, safetime, but the matches arekind of like practicing, except that you get towin money or a gun. I al-ways say, “Relax, we’vehad children the age of 9(with proper supervi-sion) shoot with us.”There’s no rolling aroundin the dirt, but we’ll con-sider that if you want to. Come on out, if youhave fun, that’s ourwhole intention. We justwant to make sure you’recomfortable — we neverforce anyone to shoot. Ifyou ever have any prob-lems, please let theRangemaster know theday of the match.

And on another note, Iwould like to take this

opportunity to thank everyone for all of the friendlycalls, letters, cards, flowers, candy, T-shirts, hats, an-gels, sand, wine, goldfish and other sweet gifts I’vereceived. I really enjoy taking care of people. Thingis, I treat people the way I’d like to be treated. Myhoney-do list is long, but yes, you could say I love myjob. Can’t you tell?

G30 AT 15 METERS, FREEHAND

I’ve read all the articles on GLOCKS, but I think thisdescribes your company to “PERFECTION”:

GLOCK in the MoviesI have just had the good fortune of seeing the movie

“U.S. Marshals” and had to share with you what Ithought was a wonderful action movie. The starringrole in this movie has to be that of the .40 G22 thatmany of the actors carry and use. I must also givecredit to Mr. Tommy Lee Jones’ line “buy a GLOCK, getrid of that nickel-plated sissy pistol.” Mr. Glock mustbe very PROUD. We all know that’s right and have toldmany the same thing ourselves.

What a wonderful plug for a wonder handgun. Idon’t know how you got this promotion in the movie, but keep up the GREAT work.

If you haven’t already seen “U.S. Marshals,” it is amust-see, if only for that one line. Thank you, GLOCK,Inc., GSSF and Mr. Glock for all your hard work—keepit coming.

R. T.

Minnesota

P.S. My son and I had a GREAT time together at theNorthern Lakes Regional Classic VI. THANK YOUVERY MUCH from both of us. He really likes his T-shirt!

Soggy ShootersI never would have believed it, but it just keeps get-

ting better. On June 27-28, we at the Fernan Rod andGun Club hosted our fourth GSSF match. On Friday af-ternoon, Scott Gilbertson and crew arrived at our rangeto set up the course of fire. At 2:10 pm Scott observedthat this match might be rain-free. At 2:14 pm it rainedso hard and so fast that an ark would have been appro-priate equipment. But wait! We are Idahoans; a meretwo inches of rain in twenty minutes is nothing.Besides, after the first five minutes the only way wecould get wetter would have been to gain weight. Noproblem—we set up the match and headed for home.

Saturday morning dawned bright and clear, and thematch was on. I brought 4 new shooters. The first twomade up a husband-wife team who had registered bymail, and were scared to death (remember YOUR firstmatch!). They had called a week earlier to say they wereuncomfortable about shooting, so I told them to come tothe match, watch awhile, and if they were still uneasyabout shooting, to just watch. They did come; they shotand assured me that they would be back next year. Theother two new shooters came for one reason only—Ihave been badgering them for three years. They are fromtwo different law enforcement agencies and agreed thattheir only options for getting me off their backs were toA: shoot the match, or B: shoot me! I, of course, optedfor A. They had a great time and will be back next year.

I think the greatest and most humbling thing thathappened at this match was the fact that a fine gentle-man honored our club by attending and firing thematch. You see, while we whine about bad ammo, sights off and too many other excuses to list, this man, paralyzed from the neck down, fired the match from awheelchair using a specially constructed helmet thatholds the GLOCK and has a trigger release activated bybiting! I don’t know the gentleman’s name, but Sir, ifyou read this, please honor us with your presence nextyear. Your fees will be paid by the Club, and thank youfor showing us what courage is all about. To the folksfrom GSSF—as always, thank you for your profession-alism and friendship. See you next year.

Stress ReliefIam a GLOCK shooting enthusiast to the exclusion of

all other auto pistols. The GSSF matches give me amuch-needed break from law school. As a result, myGLOCK collection has grown to four models. I recentlypurchased a G17L for the competition class and shootthe G26 or “baby,” as I call it, for my regular civilian entry. Neither gun has ever let me down and both, withtheir mellow recoils, are a blast to shoot. My girlfriendalso uses GSSF matches to de-stress—from medicalschool—and has attended two recent matches shootinga G22. The recoil of the .40 is a bit too much for her, asshe is still new to firearms in general and has yet to develop good pistol shooting habits. Her plan is to geta 9mm, either the G19 or the G17. She loves the gentlerecoil of the G26, but likes a longer sight radius. Thepicture shows her in the rain at the Fulton, NY GSSFmatch, starting on a row of plates (one down, five to

go). The plates are her biggest challenge at matches. This season we will make it to three GSSF matches. With driving times as long as six hours one way, we end up spending much more time driving than shooting, so pleeeeeease consider starting a new matchlocation somewhere in the Northeast. There is nonecurrently in Maine, New Hampshire or Vermont, andthere needs to be!!! GSSF matches are consistently wellrun, and I learn a lot about how to shoot better at eachone. Keep up the good work!!!

C. T.

Vermont

Thanks to AllIwould like to express my sin-

cere gratitude to GLOCK, Inc.,the entire GSSF staff, and all of thevolunteers who work so hard toput these fantastic matches to-gether. I would especially like tothank Vel Carmona for her kind-ness, sincerity and dedication tothe GSSF members.

One of the greatest attractions of these matches is the way in which GSSF has removed the “stress”

normally associated with pistol competitions, whererecreational shooters are often competing against professionals. GLOCK gives everyone a fair chance, regardless of his or her shooting ability. I can personallyattest to this, because for the third straight year, I’veplaced at the top of “C” class (civilian) and I’ve won mythird pistol. I guess it’s just the luck of the draw!

Win or lose, the GSSF is fantastic, and I will continueto attend the matches, support the organization andencourage others to join in the fun. Thanks again!

Team TriumphsD uring 1995 our TMI (Three Mile Island) Security

Department formed a six-person pistol team. Wecompeted against seventeen nuclear security plantsthroughout the NRC's Region 1, the Northeastern U.S.Our standing was tenth while using another type of pistol which was difficult to shoot. During ’96 and ’97competitions, our standings increased each year toreach fifth place. But we knew that while shootingthese particular pistols, the chances of ever placinghigher were slim; not to mention the frequent breakageand wearing problems creating unsafe conditions.

Fortunately, with the help of our vendor, the entire security force switched to the G22. Our pistol team putthe G22 to the test with unbelievable results. The G22was safe, easy to handle and very accurate out of thebox. The entire security force shot better during practiceand qualification. Our pistol team knew this would be abetter year for the RONSA (Region One Nuclear SecurityAssociation) pistol competition. As it turned out, we collected the third place team and individual trophies. Not bad for only six months’ practice with our G22s!

I’m sure GLOCK will be with us for a long time. As anarmorer and avid PPC competitor, I personally wouldlike to thank you for coming to our rescue with a dutyweapon that is reliable, safe, accurate and fun to shoot.

Member’s CornerMember’s CornerHappy WinnersM y husband and I attended our first GLOCK

match in Roseburg, Oregon on the first week-end in June. We had traveled there with a group fromour Snoqualmie, Washington rifle club. We planned tocompete in the match with an all-woman team and in-dividually. Sometimes good news follows bad. First thebad. As we were preparing to head to the range, ourcar decided to die on the spot. Luckily, some of ourcompanions were staying at the same motel and gaveus a lift to the range. To say the least, we were bothslightly distracted and felt that we had not shot ourbest. Now the good news. A month later I received acall from Vel. She was so excited to tell us that ourwomens’ team won second place and received a

plaque; that I had come in top female and was awarded$75 and my husband won C class and a pistol. I was de-lighted with my winnings, and my husband has beeninsufferable since, but I think I can live with it. Thankyou, GLOCK, for sponsoring such fun and encouragingevents in which anyone can participate.

A GSSF FamilyI am finally getting this letter finished—I have been

wanting to send it to you from the moment my husband and I shot our first GSSF match, over twoyears ago. Both of our boys (now ages 12 and 14) alsoshoot, and it is great family fun. Our family has alwaysenjoyed shooting, and our GLOCKs have become ourfavorite guns. We tell a lot of friends, and even

strangers, how much they will enjoy a GSSF match. The staff has been the greatest since day one. They

are always so helpful and friendly—we look forwardto seeing them at the matches. The time they spendwith and patience they show our boys and otheryouths show that they care about the future of GSSF.They pay just as much attention to first-time shootersas to the “regulars.” You always leave a match feelinggood and planning for the next one.

My family would like to thank everyone from Mr.Glock and the staff to the range officers, withoutwhom the matches would not be possible, and wewould be missing a lot of fun. We will see you at thenext match.

At Home in GSSFI recently participated in my third GSSF match. My

dad convinced me to shoot in my first match inCarrollton last year. I was very nervous. When weshowed up there were a lot of men and very fewwomen or young girls. I just knew I was going to embarrass myself and my dad, but he assured me thateverything would be all right. When I stepped up to thefirst station the range officer was very friendly andhelpful. He went out of his way to make a nervousyoung girl feel right at home. Since then, everyone Ihave met who is associated with GSSF has beenfriendly, helpful and encouraging. I have had a greattime and look forward to going to the next match withmy dad, so I hope to see you in San Antonio.
