Structural Systems Repair Group (SSRG), with headquarters in Cincinnati, OH, was contracted by Model Group, to install 11 helical piles as a deep foundation system to support existing building foundation walls in OTR Historic District, Cincinnati.

Corner section of the existing building foundation wall had deteriorated and collapsed beyond repair due to settlement in poor soils. SSRG was contacted by Model/Schaefer to propose a helical pile foundation stabilization solution at this corner section. Considering very poor soils, grouted piles with 6-helix plate configuration were proposed as an effective solution to achieve required capacities. 6 of these piles were installed on exterior wall using miniexcavator mounted torque drive (40-ton ultimate capacity) and remaining 5 were installed on the inside in basement using hand-held torque drive (25-ton ultimate capacity).
