This specialty show weekend is dedicated to Roger Kofstad, Roger was born on July 17, 1931, raised in Albert Lea, MN and graduated from high school there in 1949. He served in the Army for 2 years; then purchased the farm near Hartland, MN, where he lived for the rest of his life. Roger purchased a German Shepherd puppy sometime in the mid 1970’s, and took him to an obedience class in Albert Lea. Th at puppy, Lobo, was the beginning of what became a very active period of involvement in the German Shepherd breed. Lobo died, from bloat I believe, and Roger purchased his next puppy from Wynthea Kennels in Delaware. He trained and showed her in obedience, and earned at least a C.D. But now he became interested in confor-mation showing and purchased at least 3 dogs from Covy-Tucker Hill, and a puppy from Paul and Joan Johnson. Roger and I became acquainted through the GSDC of Mpls. And St. Paul in the late 1970’s and were married on Jan. 3, 1981. Th e other momentous event for Roger in 1981 was being elected President of the GSDC of Minneapolis & St. Paul. He had previously been on the Board of Directors and served as Match Chairman. We were fairly active in showing during the 80’s and 90’s, and bred about a dozen litters in that time. Our best known dog was Ch. Falkora’s Joe Pye v. Kubistraum, who was perhaps Roger’s 2nd favorite dog… next to Covy-Tucker Hill’s Santa Maria- “Happy” –who I’m sure some of the longtime club members will remember. Happy was the dam of Armin, whom I think might have been the fi rst champion that the very young Monika Schray showed and fi nished! Roger was very proud of both of them, Monika and Armin! Roger suff ered a severe stroke in the summer of 2000, and that plus several other health problems pretty much ended his ability to actively participate in the hobby that had become such an important part of his life for over 25 years. He died on Jan. 7, 2016, just a few days aft er our 35th wedding anniversary.

SCHEDULE OF POINTS FOR DIVISION 6 – EFFECTIVE MAY 11, 2016
Division 15 is comprised of: Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin For complete Conformation Championship requirements see Chapter 16 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows. The Points toward a Championship shall be awarded to the Winners Dog and Bitch of each breed or variety based on
the actual number of dogs or bitches competing in that breed or variety. If the dog designated Winners Dog of Winners Bitch is also awarded Best of Breed or Variety, the dogs of both sexes
that have been entered for Best of Breed of Variety competition and that have been defeated in such competition, shall be counted in addition to the dogs that completed in the regular classes for its sex in calculating championship points.
If the dog designated Winners Dog or Winners Bitch is also awarded Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed or Variety, the dogs of its own sex that have been entered for Best of Breed or Variety competition that have been defeated in competition for Best of Opposite Sex, shall be counted in addition to the dogs that completed in the regular classes for its sex in calculating championship points.
After points have been computed for Winners Dog and Winners Bitch subject to the above two stipulations, the dog awarded the Best of Winners shall be credited with the number of points calculated for Winners Dog or Winners Bitch, whichever is greater.
In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, or that is dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge, or from which all awards are withheld shall not be included. Any dog which shall have won fifteen points shall become a Champion of Record, if six or more of said points shall have been won at two shows with a rating of three or more championship points each and under two different judges, and some one or more of the balance of said points shall have been won under some other judge or judges than the two judges referred to above. A qualifying score is required for all prizes in Obedience, Rally Obedience, and Optional Titling Classes. A special rosette will be awarded to any dog completing an AKC title in Regular Conformation, Obedience or Optional Titling classes. "Dog" when applied to special awards means either sex.
