WKAR’s Scott Pohl Retires After 36 YearsReporter Scott Pohl found a home on the WKAR airwaves back in 1984 and at the end of April will be retiring. We have a hunch he’ll still be heard on the radio here and there with WKAR, but before he hangs up his microphone for a spell, we had to turn the tables and ask him a few questions for a change.

Who was your favorite interview for WKAR?My favorite novelist, John Irving. Prayer For Owen Meany is my favorite novel. I spoke with him by phone prior to coming to MSU for a celebrity lecture at the Wharton Center. I couldn’t help myself in fanboying with him.

What’s the first thing you’ll do on the first day of retirement? If possible, play golf.

How has journalism changed from when you started with WKAR?Countless ways, in terms of technology; not at all in terms of our commitment to accuracy and fairness.

Will you still wear your iconic bowties?Yes, on the occasions when I still need to dress like a grownup (which I assume will be less often).
