NANOSCALE PROTEIN ANALYSISThe NanoArray Assay System is based on tip-based Dip Pen
Nanolithography technology, which can create highly reproduc-
ible protein arrays over millimeter areas with nanometer preci-
sion and then fl uorescently image these nanoarrays at high reso-
lution. Components of the NanoArray Assay System include the
NanoArrayer 3000, the NanoScan 900 scanner, and user-friendly
software for fl exible and precise array patterning and intuitive
data acquisition and image analysis. The NanoArrayer 3000 is ca-
pable of depositing thousands of uniform protein features in the
area occupied by just one spot on a conventional protein micro-
array. This miniaturization and precision enables high throughput
protein analysis on a single slide. Miniaturized and multiplexed
NanoArray Assay System assays achieve femtograms/milliliter
sensitivity with 2 µL of sample, comparable to or better than the
sensitivities of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and bead-
based assays that consume 50 µL of sample.

DEEP-WELL MICROPLATE WASHERThe new ELx405 Select Deep-Well Washer is a robot compat-
ible, full plate washer for automated aspirate and dispense steps
in 96- and 384-well plates up to 50 mm high, and can also accom-
modate standard 15 mm microplates. This delivers increased
washing effi ciency compared to manual and handheld methods.
The ELx405 Select Deep-Well Washer also features a dual-action
manifold for independent and precise aspirate/dispense control,
and variable fl ow rates and angled dispensing for optimized cell
washing. Washing protocols may be created and run through
the familiar keypad interface or through BioTek’s Liquid Han-
dling Control (LHC) Software. Additionally, optional Ultrasonic
Advantage integrated ultrasonic cleaners provide manifold self-
maintenance, and optional automatic 1-to-4 wash buffer switch-
ing further enhances effi ciency. Typical applications that can now
be automated include: plasmid DNA purifi cation, serum/plasma
sample preparation, hematopoietic progenitor cell enumeration,
and cell proliferation assays.

CHEMILUMINESCENT IMAGING SYSTEM The new GeneGnome5 is a dedicated chemiluminescent imaging system designed
to make precise imaging of chemiluminescent Western blots a simple, one-click task.
The GeneGnome5 has a high resolution, cooled camera inside a light-tight cabinet that
is fully integrated with a processor and fl at screen monitor. The GeneGnome5 is quick
and easy to set up as its fi xed aperture lens means scientists don’t need to spend time
adjusting the camera and they can load blots into the system’s slide-out drawer, view
the image, and capture it with just one click. The GeneGnome5, which includes a white
light for viewing colored protein markers, generates images using Syngene’s new
GeneSys image capture software. This unique software automatically selects the best
conditions for imaging any blot, regardless of which chemiluminescent reagents scien-
tists are using, to produce a high-quality image from even poorly expressed proteins.

MANUAL MICROPIPETTESThe new Socorex Acura manual 826 XS micropipette line is de-
signed to improve a researcher’s ability to aim, especially when
working with smaller openings such as microtubes. The micro-
pipette is intentionally shorter in design, featuring an optimized
shape-to-size ratio that facilitates superior drivability of the pi-
pette and signifi cantly improves the precision of hand movement
when pipetting into small vials and microtubes. The unique tight-
ness lip seal reduces activation forces and provides for ultrasoft
pipetting, greatly reducing hand-fatigue while working. Sharp
plunger stops result in unsurpassed metrological performance.
The micropipette’s Justip height-adjustment system permits for
the optimal fi tting and ejection of a wide selection of tips, and tip
ejection becomes easier than ever due to the low-pressure ac-
tivation button. Tedious calibration procedures become obsolete
with its swift-set user calibration system and integrated key and
locking mechanism.

ACID RESISTANT EVAPORATORThe EZ-2 HCl evaporator uses inert and corrosion-proof materials
to enable it to withstand high concentrations of up to 12 molar
hydrochloric acid and other acid chlorides. These can be routinely
removed from samples without any loss of performance or long-
term deterioration in the system. Acid resistant components in
the EZ-2 HCl include a PTFE-coated evaporation chamber and
a glass condenser. All metallic parts coming into contact with
removed solvent are manufactured from acid resistant Hasteloy
C steel. The innovative design of the EZ-2 HCl presents real ad-
vantages for all chemists faced with removing both regular sol-
vents and strongly acidic chemicals. Intuitive controls and large
LCD display provide ease of use comparable to a typical rotary
evaporator, yet the EZ-2 HCl can process many more samples
per unit time. Smart evaporator software provides true walkaway
automation so simple and sample-safe that anyone can use it
with confi dence.
