3 MarchThe Department of Art & Design holds an Art Exhibitionof students’ work. The exhibition is opened by Mr GiorgosGavriel, Ministry of Education Inspector of Art - SecondarySchools.

3-5 MarchUpper School students participate in a CyMUN conferenceheld at the University of Nicosia.

6 MarchThe members of the Greek Research Club present theirresearch ndings on social media, during an event held in theSchool cafeteria. The topic is «Το «είναι» και το «φαίνεσθαι»έχουν συναιρεθεί επικίνδυνα προς όφελος του «φαίνεσθαι»;»The event is attended by Government Spokesman NicosChristodoulides, Members of the Parliament and many otheresteemed guests. The MERA Research team: Nayia Aza,Eva Antoniade, Stephanie Tanou, Christina Tanou, NadinaMiltiadou, Andrea Georgiou, Mikaela Demetriou, AndreaSkapoulli and Stavros Christo des.

7 MarchThe GCS Boys’ Basketball Team wins the 2nd place in theInterschool 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament organised by theSports Department.

11 MarchStelios Michaelides of Form 2 wins the Bronze Medal in thePancyprian Karate Championship held in Nicosia.

12 MarchThe Parents Association organises its annual Treasure Hunt.

14 MarchForm 3 and Form 5 French Classes attend a lecture on theimportance of language learning and studies in France.

14 MarchThe Mathematics Department celebrates Π Day with the saleof pies, muf ns, cakes and cookies during break time. Allproceeds are donated to charity.

14 MarchThe Astronomy, Science, Volunteers, Programming, and Art& Design Clubs and the Girl-Up Society, organise ‘Sciencein a Nutshell’, an event in which students conduct scienti cprojects and demonstrations. The event is organised in supportof the Girl-Up initiative ‘STEM-inism: The International Day ofWomen and Girls in Science’. Funds raised are donated to theupcoming WiSci STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering,Arts, Mathematics) Camp organised in Malawi under thisinitiative.

14-15 MarchGregoris Georgiou of Form 6 and Danae Polycarpou of Form4 represent the School and win the Gold Medal in the NicosiaDistrict Track & Field Games organised by the Ministry ofEducation & Culture.

17 MarchMembers of the Volunteers Club give the money collected inaid of the Make a Wish Foundation, to a group of motor bikers- members of various motorbike clubs – who make a stop atour School for this purpose, as part of their charity bike ride.

17-19 MarchThe GCS Debate Club represents the School at theEYP Pre-Selection Days 2017 event with a delegationcomprised of the following Form 5 students: ConstaninosIoannou, Ino Polycarpou, Katia Hadjidemetriou-Folman,Chara Anastassiadou, Iacovos Tenedios and DemetrisConstantinou. The GCS delegation is selected to participatein the National Session to be held in August.

21 MarchThe teachers and students of the French Departmentorganise “Fête de la Francophonie”, an afternoon dedicatedto French delicacies and culture. The aim of the event isto raise awareness of the language and culture of Frenchspeakers around the world.

22 MarchThe Careers Department organises a two-fold presentationon the Blue Economy by the Cyprus Maritime Academy, andon Interview & Communication Skills.

22 MarchThe Current Affairs Society organises a presentation onAIDS awareness by the AIDS Solidarity Movement Cyprus.The presentation is titled “Be Positive - Stay Negative”, andthe Guest Speaker is Mr Christos Krasides, Secretary &Communications Representative, AIDS Solidarity MovementCyprus.

23 MarchForm 5 students attend a lecture on drug abuse, preventionand treatment organised by the Volunteers Club. GuestSpeakers: Representatives from Agia Skepi TherapeuticCommunity.

24 MarchThe School Events Workshop and Form 3 organise GCSNight 2017. It is the annual party and dance competition opento all Lower School classes. This year’s winners are 2 Orange(1st Place), 3 Green (2nd Place) and 1 Yellow (3rd Place).

24 MarchThe students of Form 4 Geography classes visit theseismological centre in Nicosia and are given a presentationon earthquakes in Cyprus, and seismometers, their locationand function.

25 MarchUpper School students represent the School in the 25thMarch Anniversary national parade.

26 MarchThe GCS team currently participating in the JuniorAchievement programme focusing on entrepreneurship,display their product to the public on a trade fair organised byJunior Achievement Cyprus, at the Mall of Cyprus.

27 MarchThe Careers Department organises a presentation forstudents interested in studying in Germany. The topicsdiscussed include entrance requirements, the applicationprocess and degrees available.

27 MarchRepresentatives from the University of Cambridge visit theSchool and talk to students about the university. The eventincludes a short presentation, followed by a Q & A session.

28 MarchThe Careers Department organises a presentation to studentsinterested in studying in Italy. The presentation discussesentrance requirements, the application process and degreesavailable.

29 MarchThe careers Department organises a presentation by IkarosAviation Training Centre, for students interested in aircraftengineering. The presentation covers topics such as what thejob of an aircraft engineer is and job prospects.

31 MarchStudents and staff honour the 25th March and 1st Aprilanniversaries during a commemoration held in the SchoolAuditorium. Teachers-in-charge: Dr Tina Christodoulou andMrs Stella Koutsoyianni Panteli of the Department of ModernGreek.
