WHAT ISFUTSAL?Futsal is an extremely intense and emotional game and therefore also exciting to watch. Besides the fast pace, more goals are scored and there are more shots on goal than in traditional football. The surface, the ball and the rules demand improvisation, creativity and fine technique of all five players on each team.

The nature of the game of futsal places a large emphasis on technical skill and ability in situations of high pressure. It is subsequently an excellent breeding ground for football competencies that can be translated into the 11-a-side format of the game. Many top football players such as Pelé, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Messi and Ronaldo all played futsal in their youth to develop their current skills.

Futsal is a fast-growing sport, widely played across the world and officially recognized by both UEFA and FIFA aiming to make it even more popular in the future.

We are proud to introduce our new futsal balls. A lot of time and research have been spent in order to create a wide and attractive futsal collection, and we are offering twice as many balls as before covering all needs in terms of balls for this exciting and fast-paced sport.

In total we now offer 15 different match and training balls. Their outer design is colorful for improved visibility and faster player reactions and the spe-cially developed inner construction guarantees that the ball maintains its high quality and perfect roundness. Furthermore, every ball meets the high futsal standards of size, weight and bounce.

The collection has been developed in close cooperation with the Brazil-ian futsal expert, Aroldo Strack, who has his own futsal academy, Golasso SELECT Futsal Academy. Together with him and the players and trainers from his academy, we have even created a new Futsal Youth Line, which we believe is the best and most specialized in the world.

Common to all our balls is that the quality is high and the durability long. An optimally round futsal ball consists of 32 panels made up of 12 pentagons and 20 hexagons. The 32 panels are sewn together using 630 double stitch-es and 60 corner stitches and are closed off - especially for SELECT - with a double knot. The ball lasts longer this way.

Hidden behind the elegant exterior of the futsal balls hides a specially devel-oped butyl bladder with microfibres inside. That ensures a very reliable low bounce compared to a normal football making it much easier to control. All our balls have a butyl valve inside covered by foam to avoid the bladder from puncturing when inflating the ball.

To stabilise the ball and ensure that it remains round, the 32 panels are lined with several layers of textile material. The lining helps to adjust the softness and improves the contact between the ball and the foot.

The outer layer of the ball is made of synthetic leather in polyurethane (PU). The surface of this material can be either ”shiny”, ”grain” or “pattern” and consists of lots of PU fibres. Combined this gives a strong surface with con-sistent softness.

High quality is essential for SELECT. For this reason, each ball undergoes a stringent test at our production facilities in Pakistan. Here they are tested for stitching, surface, roundness, circumference, weight, air retention and colour printing. Even the bladders are inflated to ensure perfect balance. Our standards for quality are the highest in the industry and exceed FIFA’s regu-lations for the best match balls. The balls are of course tested and approved according to FIFA and IMS standards.

All futsal balls from SELECT have been developed in close cooperation with the Brazilian futsal expert, Aroldo Strack, and his futsal academy, Golasso SELECT Futsal Academy. Aroldo Strack is a very experienced coach with A-license for football coaching. He has been coach of the national futsal team of Denmark and is today a highly regarded lecturer in especially futsal. Together with him and the players and trainers from his academy, we have created a new Futsal Youth Line as an innovative part of the general futsal collection.

We are proud to be first-movers in the development of specific balls regulated in circumference and weight for each age group. We believe that like in all other team sports, young futsal players need balls that are smaller and lighter and are adjusted and adapted to their age. We have already received positive feedback from vari-ous futsal federations in Europe, and they support our philosophy. SELECT has introduced three new balls for U9, U11 and U13 players - the “Talento 9”, the “Talento 11” and the “Talento 13”.

SELECT Sport is one of the world’s leading manufac-

turers of hand-sewn balls. The innovative, Danish

company manufactures around three million balls a

year and is represented in major parts of the world,

also exporting to over 50 countries.

In addition to balls, the company’s range comprises

literally everything within equipment for particularly

football, futsal and handball, including sports sup-

ports, sports care, goalkeeper gloves, boots and

shoes, training equipment and clothing.

The company was founded in 1947 by Eigil Nielsen,

goalkeeper for the Danish national football team. As

something completely new and ground-breaking,

Eigil Nielsen created a football with an inbuilt valve

and no external thread.

Up through the years he and SELECT were the first to

bring significant improvements to the market. These

included the 32 panel ball from 1962, one of the first

ever inventions in ball production.

Most balls manufactured around the world today still

build on SELECT’s revolution from 1962 – regardless

of the manufacturer.

In 2012, SELECT could present yet another mile-

stone in the ball’s history, namely the world’s first in-

telligent football, the SELECT iBall.

Back in 1951, SELECT signed a contract to supply

balls for the Danish national football team. A partner-

ship that has continued till today, and is one of the

longest sponsorships in the history of football. Since
