BLAMEBLAME it on the hard water, whichthe Noida Authority supplies or theprice rise that people want to savemore, residents are forced to buy this'not so mineral water'.
Authorities have never taken anyaction against these violators. "Au-thorities should wake up and stop itas it is not only an illegal act, but alsoendangers lives of many people," saidMK Awasthi, a resident of Sector 33.
Most of the residents are still un-
aware of these acts. "Authoritiesshould keep a strict check. It is the re-sponsibility of authorities, they shouldfulfill it," said Naresh Verma, a resi-dent of Sector 35.
This has been happening for years.Several pump houses located in farflung sectors along with a pumphouse in Sector 34 supply this bottledwater. As nobody checks the quality ofthis water, these illegal water sellersare making huge profits.
The taste of this water is also dif-ferent from the usual tap water. It
confuses most of the residents. "Every-one wants huge profits. People wantRO water and that too at Rs 20/bottle(20 litres). How is it possible? We sup-ply water from pump houses in bottlesas mineral water. We don't have anychoice," said Raju, a person, who sellsthis 'not so mineral water'.
This water can lead to illness as itis not safe to drink. Noida AuthorityProject Engineer (Water & Sewer-II)Mohd Ishrat said, “I will get it checkedand ensure that the practice isstopped as soon as possible.”
