• Summary

The BIG ideaHealthcare professionals want to monitor wounds constantly to check for early signs of complications to allow them to take prompt action. If they cover these wounds with an absorbent post-op dressing then they need to lift the dressing to see what's going on. Each lift offers an opportunity for infection and the possibility healing is delayed.Good practice and infection management protocols also state that when they lift it, they replace it ~ so regular checking becomes an expensive and time consuming activity.Through its innovative design OPSITE Post-Op Visible addresses this by giving clinicians the ability to monitor wound progress, without lifting the

So what’s new?

1. New pad design2. Full range of 6 sizes3. Improved packaging4. Supporting evidence

The new pad design

• The new manufacturing process creates a more uniform, repeatable and aesthetically pleasing pad design (as illustrated opposite)

• The new pad design has made the pad slightly wider than before and to retain the same border width the overall size of the dressing has also increased slightly

The Packaging

• All OPOV SKUs are avialble in cartons of 20 dressings

• Improvements made to OPOV packaging include:– Addition of ‘Visible’ flash – Addition of drawing of

dressings– Paper/poly pouches– Registered print on the

pouches– Enlarged application images

The Evidence – In-vivo (clinical)• The following pieces of clinical

evidence have been generated since OPOV launch

1. A multi-centre, prospective, clinical in-market evaluation (CIME) to assess the performance of OPSITE Post-Op Visible dressings

2. OPSITE Post-Op Visible - A clinical evaluation

3. A prospective evaluation of a new dressing OPSITE Post-Op Visible on post op blistering following total hip and knee replacement

4. Evaluating a Post-operative see-through dressing

The Evidence – In vitro

• The following pieces of clinical evidence have been generated since OPOV launch

1. Total absorption capacity and water transmission rate of OPSITE™ Post-Op Visible versus competitors

2. In-vitro assessment of bacterial barrier properties of 3 common wound dressings

The Evidence – Health Economic

• Jameel Nazir (S&N Health Economics Manager) has written a paper and developed a model that demonstrates cost effectiveness of OPOV when compared to a standard film + pad dressing, a non-woven and tape + gauze

The dressing

Visibility

Bacterial Protection

Barrier dressings:• The SEM images opposite

demonstrates that the top film of OPOV is impermeable to bacteria including MRSA

Non-barrier dressings:• Non-barrier dressings (such as

non-wovens and gauze) do not provide an effective barrier to infection, and could contribute to the burden of HCAIs

OPOV provides vital protection against serious consequences

Optimum healing environment

• The highly absorbent hydrocellular foam pad absorbs wound discharge and the high MVTR film allows excess moisture to transpire away. This helps create an optimum healing environment

• The graphs opposite demonstrate that OPOV will handle more exudate than the leading competitor post-operative dressings

Comfort and conformability

• Latex-free formulation• Waterproof (showering not

bathing)• Low-allergy adhesive• Reduced levels of blistering

compared with competitor dressings

When to change

No change necessary

Change dressing

Bacterial barrierProvides a barrier against bacteria, including MRSA, to reduce the risk of infection

Comfortable & conformableThe unique dressing design and low-allergy adhesive ensure its comfortable to wear and easy to apply and remove

Highly absorbent padAllows lateral spread across the lattice pad to maximise absorbency without impairing visibility, reducing the risk of skin maceration for cost-effective care

Waterproof filmPatient can shower with dressing in situ

Product Summary

Lattice pad designAllows clinicians to monitor progress of the wound as often as they like without unnecessary dressings changes for patients. This reduces disturbances to the wound bed, minimises the risk of infection and helps provide a cost effective solution

High MVTR The unique film structure allows unwanted moisture to transpire away
