E3Highlights 2012If you died and went to videogaming heaven, it'd probably look a bit like E3, only with a few less Starbucks. Kristan Reed reports on thehighlights of this year's showcase event...

EXCLUSIVE TITLESAs the Xbox 360 heads towards its seventh birthday,big name blockbuster sequels were high on theagenda. Top of the pile of its first party output wasHalo 4 (out Nov 6), which wowed the audience with ajaw-dropping segment of the game's bombasticcampaign mode. Later, Microsoft also trailered ForzaHorizon (out Oct 23rd), and Gears Of War: Judgement(2013) to impressive effect, while Dance Central 3 (Q4 2012) was shown off for the first time, with Usherhimself taking the stage to personally show off hisdance moves. The appearance of the stylish Kinect-only Fable: The Journey (Q4 2012) added agloss to a quality line-up.

SMARTGLASS REVEALEDMicrosoft revealed it will launch a new app for the360 later in the Autumn that will allow users of iOS,Android, Windows Phone and other portable devicesto connect to their 360 console in a variety ofinnovative ways. Games such as Halo 4, for example,will allow users to view useful in-game meta data,while sports games will allow players to customisetactics via their touch-screen device. Elsewhere,users will be able to surf the net via the upcomingInternet Explorer app, or watch a movie on onedevice and continue watching it from where they leftoff on another.

STRONG THIRD PARTY OFFERINGSStunning action segments of both Tomb Raiderand Splinter Cell: Blacklist demonstrated just howfar the technical capabilities of the 360 can bepushed, but the news that Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2will have timed exclusive DLC on 360 wasundoubtedly one of the most commercially significantreveals of the show.

With the release of Wii U set for the holiday season,the Japanese giant devoted most of its effortstowards showcasing the key launch titles, with 3DStaking a back seat this year.

LAUNCH STARSNintendo kicked off with the stunning-looking Pikmin 3 - a frankly brilliant-looking title that most ofthe assembled have been clamouring for for years.Design legend Shigeru Miyamoto introduced theconcept of 'asymmetric gameplay', with multipleplayers occupying different screens in the samegame, while consuming different content.

Elsewhere, a beautiful HD side-scrolling New SuperMario Bros. U was briefly demoed, while the familyfriendly Nintendo Land provides 12 Nintendo themedmini-game fun, featuring all the famous brands in onemultiplayer focused party game package - just likeWii Sports did back in 2006. In addition, a Wii Fit U

promises to utilise the Wii U's tablet controller in its array of exercises, while karaoke title SINGdisplays the words via the tablet controller allowing player to sing to their audience with theirback to the TV.

23 GAMES CONFIRMED FOR Wii U LAUNCHIn what turned out to be an announcement-packedconference, numerous third party titles were shownoff. Tecmo KOEI's Ninja Gaiden 3 was one of thehighlights, alongside the likes of Scribblenauts,Batman Arkham City: Armoured Edition, LEGO City:Undercover, Mass Effect 3, Darksiders 2, Aliens:Colonial Marines, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and many more.

NINTENDO 3DS BLOCKBUSTERS INCOMINGNintendo's handheld wasn't forgotten in the Wii Uhype, with the brilliant Luigi's Mansion 2: Dark Moonthe pick of E3's handheld titles, while fleetingglimpses of New Super Mario Bros 2. and futureclassic Paper Mario: Sticker Star offer rich pickingsfor 3DS fans.

CLASSY SEQUELS, GUARANTEED HITSFor the hardcore gamer, there were no shortage ofgripping shooters and action adventures to lookforward to. The French giant saved the best until lastwith new announcement Watch Dogs perhaps thepick of the show. Gamers will explore the dangerousworld of Aiden Pearce, an antihero with the power tohack into any connected system.

On more familiar territory, Splinter Cell: Blacklistlooks set to take stealth action to spectacular newheights next summer, while Assassin's Creed III andFar Cry 3 will keep the action adventure and shootercrowd more than satisfied, with both titles settingnew standards. Other platforms weren't overlooked,with PS Vita getting its own exclusive in the shape ofAssassin's Creed III: Liberation, while PC gamerscan look forward to multiplayer shooter thrills withShootmania Storm.

HUGE WII U COMMITMENTUbisoft confirmed no fewer than eight titlesfor Wii U, including excellent undeadadventure ZombiU, Rabbids Land, JustDance 4, Sports Connection, MarvelAvengers: Battle For Earth, RaymanLegends, Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2013and sure-fire megahit Assassin's Creed 3.Busy? Just a bit.

TRIPLE-A ONLY2K's line-up made its mark on E3 with a strong line-upof triple A titles that mixed favourite old brands withtop class sequels.

Gearbox's shooter-RPG hybrid Borderlands 2(out Sept 2012) drew plenty of admiring glances, withpromises of reworked AI, a more expansive weaponssystem and 4-player online co-op.

Another game to boast online co-op was Spec Ops:The Line - the first title in the military shooter seriesfor more than a decade. With its squad-based focus,and terrain deforming tech, many have pinned it as amore challenging take on the Gears formula.

Last but not least, XCOM: Enemy Unknown takes the classic real-time strategy series right back to itsturn-based roots, and this reimagining of the 1994original did not disappoint. Due out later this year,Firaxis' latest will be right at the top of strategygamers' must-have lists after this positive showing.

Konami at E3 2012Japanese giants boast one of the standout line-ups of the entire show

2012 will go down as a stunning Electronic EntertainmentExpo for Konami, with blockbuster titles across the fullbreadth of current console and handheld platforms.

Headed up by the twin assault of Metal Gear Rising:Revengeance and PES 2013 on PS3 and 360, theseheadline titles stood out as true triple A blockbusters of
