    Character Traits

    Lara is very helpful. In the story Lara helpspeople make friends by using her friendship

    matchmaking skills.

    Tanya is very shy. In the story Tanya does not

    talk very much and just keeps to herself mostof the time.

    Setting Description

    The whole story takes place at school mostly

    during the day. In school they are either in the

    classroom or out at recess.

    The problem in the story

    The problem is that Lara is having a very hard

    time finding Tanya a friend even though she is

    the friendship matchmaker.

    Important Events

    1. Lara tried to help Emily fit in but Emily

    ignored what Lara told her to do.

    2. Lara and Emily made a bet where you had to

    find someone a best friend.

    3. Lara found 3 friends for Tanya but all 3 of

    them did not work out.

    4. Lara finally found a friend for Tanya and it

    was her.

    Solution in the story

    The solution is that Lara finds out that the

    prefect friend for Tanya is her even though she

    is suppose to match people with others not

    herself.

    How the main characters changed

    through the story

    In the beginning Lara was very strict about her

    friendship matchmaking rules but in the end

    she was not very strict about them.

    In the beginning Tanya was very shy and did

    not have many friends but in the end she was

    not shy anymore and had a very good friend

    named Lara.

    helps you in your own live, also it is

    interesting, exciting and very surprising.

    Golden lines

    1. There were three big cardboard boxes

    painted red, green and yellow spaced at

    various distances from the free-throw line of

    the court.

    2. That self-congratulatory expression on her

    face now that she had just won the prize.

    Summary

    In the beginning of the story there was this girl namedLara that was the friendship matchmaker and shewanted to help this girl named Emily. Lara was trying

    to give Emily tips on how to fit in at school but Emily

    just ignored everything that Lara was telling her. They

    started arguing with each other and them came upwith a bet. The bet was that they each had to find

    someone else a best friend. They both rushed off to

    find someone to give them a friend. Emily found

    Bethany and Lara found Tanya. Both of them werehaving a little trouble finding their person a friend.

    Lara tried three people for Tanya but they all did notwork out.

    Summary (cont)

    Emily was working on finding a perfect friend forBethany. Then one day they took a class field trip to the

    aquarium and it went very wrong. This kid named

    Chris stole Laras journal and read it out loud to the

    whole class. Some of the things in there were not verynice about other people and when they heard whatLara said about them they got very sad. Lara was very

    embarrassed and did not know what to do so she went

    around and apologized to everyone. When she got toTanya she apologized and told her she found her a best

    friend. When Tanya found out that Lara wanted to be

    her friend she was so happy and said yes!!!

    Randa Abdel-Fattah was born in Australia on June 6,1979. Randa wrote her first "novel", which was based on

    Roald Dahl's Matilda, when she was in sixth grade. Shewrote the first draft of Does My Head Look Big in This?when she was about 16 years old. She was about 26years old when Does My Head Look Big in This? was
