4.2.18

The dunya has less value than a mosquito wing in the eyes of Allah. But we get attached to this ‘mosquito wing’, get used to the blessings. When we don’t get this mosquito wing, we think this is ظلم.

Don’t think you deserve anything that Allah gives you, don’t think it is your right. When we have dunya, we take it for granted, and think it is our right to have it. So when we don’t have It, we complain and blame others. This is all .إرادة الدنيا

If you want dunya, Allah will give you, because it

has no value. For anything which has value, you must work. So whatever Allah wills, He will give to you. But the end will be with humiliation n the hellfire, because you cared only for dunya, and didn’t work for the akhirah.

The akhirah requires a struggle, put all your effort and energy into it. It is intangible, and you must believe in it to work for it. Allah will appreciate your struggle and give you both dunya and akhirah. The dunya is a distraction.

When Allah doesn’t give you something you ask for, don’t ever think that He cannot أستغفر اهلل. Allah knows what is good for you. The akhirah is 100% good, so you will get whatever is beneficial for the hereafter. But from the dunya, you will only get what is good for you.

The benefit of dunya is different for everyone, according to different situations and tests. The level of akhirah is of a higher degree. People fight for something which is of less value than a mosquito wing. Whoever wants dunya will be disappointed with akhirah.

The Messenger of Allah صلى اهلل : said عليه وسلم

لو كانت الدنيا تعدل عند اهلل جناح بعوضة ما سقى كافرا منها شربة ماءIf the world to Allah was equal to a mosquito's wing, then He would

not allow the disbeliever to have a sip of water from it.

جامع الترمذي ، حديث 2320#

لنا له فيها ما من كان يريد العاجلة عجنشاء ملن نريد ثم جعلنا له جهنم

يصالها مذموما مدحورا Whoever should desire the

immediate - We hasten for him from it what We will to whom We intend. Then We have made for

him Hell, which he will [enter to] burn, censured and banished.

ومن أراد اآلخرة وسعى لها سعيها وهو مؤمن فأولئك كان سعيهم مشكورا

But whoever desires the Hereafter and exerts the effort due to it

while he is a believer - it is those whose effort is ever appreciated

[by Allah ]. كال نمد هؤالء وهؤالء من عطاء ربك

وما كان عطاء ربك محظورا To each [category] We extend - to these and to those - from the gift of your Lord. And never has the gift of your Lord been restricted.

سورة اإلسراء 17:18-20

إنما أموالكم وأوالدكم فتنة واهلل عنده أجر عظيم

Your wealth and your children are but a trial,

and Allah has with Him a great reward.

سورة التغابن 64:15

You may start a deed with wanting the akhirah, and then dunya comes in front of you, and you are distracted, and your goal changes, you want both. So the reward decreases. The motive for worship must be divine, what Allah and His Messenger صلى اهلل عليه وسلم said. Did they say you should fast for detox? To lose weight? No. So this is not the right motive. When Allah commands you to a worship, with the motivation He wishes, you must make this your intention. Don’t combine worldly matters with worship. Go to dunya die dunya; this is not shirk. Exercise to lose weight, go to a spa for detox. But don’t mix it with worship, or you will lose your reward.

Allah said for taqwa : ومن يتق اهلل يجعل له مخرجا ويرزقه من حيث ال يحتسب - And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out, and will provide for him from where he does not expect. (65:2-3). This motivation can be used, because Allah said it in the Qura’an.

Sadaqah is a means of purification, and it averts calamities. But don’t use this to get worldly benefits and good health. For istighfar, Allah gives worldly benefits to encourage us, saying : ماء استغفروا ربكم إنه كان غفارا يرسل الس Ask - عليكم مدرارا ويمددكم بأموال وبنني ويجعل لكم جنات ويجعل لكم أنهاراforgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers. And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers. (71:10-12). Don’t use istighfar only for abundant provision. The reward of dunya is motivation for those with weak faith. The stronger your faith becomes, the more you must think of the benefits of the hereafter.

Those who are slaves of material things, are happy when they have them, and unhappy when they don’t. Make any kind of struggle purely for the sake of Allah. Magnify the remembrance of the hereafter, and downplay the dunya. Take the dunya which Allah gave you, and be grateful, but don’t make it your goal.

The Messenger of Allah صلى اهلل عليه : said وسلم

تعس عبد الدينار والدرهم والقطيفة والخميصة، إن أعطي رضي، وإن لم يعط لم

يرض Perish the slave of Dinar, Dirham,

Qatifa (thick soft cloth), and Khamisa (a garment), for if he is given, he is

pleased; otherwise he is dissatisfied.صحيح البخاري ، حديث 6435#
