Principal’s Report
Thank you to our Community
Our first week back at school was wonderful for students and teachers alike. The
familiar noise of laughter in classrooms, stories being read, groups talking and
problems solving together, watching beautiful artwork unfolding and listening to the
myriad of games taking place outside was a delightful change to the lackluster tones of
COVID-19.
An enormous thank you to you all for being so understanding and so willing to work
through the social distancing regulations being expected of us all. Our Kindergarten and
Year 1 students are becoming incredibly independent and we appreciate your
willingness to promote and encourage this aspect of the return to school. Our health
conscious community is why Australia has been so successful in stemming this horrid
virus, and if we keep it up hopefully we’ll continue to be one of the safest nations in the
world.
Opportunity Class 2021 – Applications open 9 June 2020.
The 2021 Year 5 opportunity class placement process was put on hold in April due to
COVID-19. The process has now been rescheduled but the timeframe for the testing
and placement of students has been shortened. To ensure the fair and consistent
assessment of students across all schools in NSW, this year students will be placed
using test results only. The test is created by an independednt educational assessment
ptovider and measures academic ability, not achievement, giving a reliable method for
identifying highly gifted students. The table below provides the notable dates for the
application and testing. Please review them carefully and access the application form
on the DoE website:

Health and Wellbeing
Please revise the health guidelines each week with your child:
Regularly washing hands
Not sharing any drinks or food
Not using bubblers, refilling water bottles at the tap.
Coughing or sneezing into their elbow or a tissue which should be disgarded
immediately.
If your child is unwell, DO NOT send them to school. If they are unwell at school we will
contact you immediately to come and collect them. Please contact the school to ensure
we have a reason for your child’s absence should you choose to keep them home.
LAPTOPS and iPads
Thank you to all parents who have returned devices to school. Any devices which have
not yet been returned need to be returned to school as soon now. If your child is young
please hand the equipment to the teacher at the gate in the morning or afternoon.

weather, bushfires or other emergencies. The app complements the other means of
communication available to parents and carers from schools and the Department of
Education to ensure families receive timely, accurate information in a crisis.
