Introduction

How awesome would it be to have Force powers?

You could Force Grab a beer from the fridge without getting off the couch, Jedi Mind Trick your way out

of a speeding ticket, or use Force Lightning to toast bagels.

Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things.

But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate Protocol droids with your lightsaber and

wreak all manor of Sith havoc on Imperial and Rebel forces alike.

In this Star Wars: The Force Unleashed strategy guide, you'll find:

• BASICS // Learn which Force Powers are most worthy of your hard-earned Force Points

• WALKTHROUGH // Tips for beating each boss and the location of each Holocron Cube

• Q&A // Where's my black lightsaber?

• SECRETS // Invincibility? Yep.

Light Side, Dark Side—you're the guy with the lightsaber.

BAD GUYS

Most of the folks who want you dead (which is pretty much everyone you run into you charisma

challenged dolt) will try to make you that way with a standard issue blaster. These are your typical grunts

and you can take care of them as you see fit. Below are a few special enemy types and tips on dealing

with them.

Bad guys with cattle prods

You might laugh but oddly enough, an electric cattle prod stands up quite well to your

lightsaber. Don't fight these guys up close because if they tag you with their glow sticks

you will be immobilized for a few seconds. Instead, fight them from a distance. Use

Force Grabs to pick them up and chuck them into walls and each other or hit them with

projectile attacks like Lightning or Lightsaber Throws.

Enemies with green gas

During your travels you will come across enemies enveloped in a cloud of green gas.

No, it's not indicative of gastrointestinal problems; these guys have the ability to heal

their buddies so it's usually a good idea to take them out first.

On the other hand, they drop health pickups when made dead so it may be strategically

valuable to wait until you've mopped up all their friends before killing them. This way

you'll maximize the benefits of their health drops.

Enemies with jetpacks

Boy howdy are these guys a headache. They're hard to hit, armed to the teeth, and take a

lot of damage. If at all possible, Force Grab these guys and hold them over a bottomless

drop and throw your lightsaber at them. They'll drop and die, easy peasy.

Page 3: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

Now, if you're not in an area where you can do this you're really going to have your

work cut out for you. Try to keep your distance and hold block. If you're patient you can

take them out simply by reflecting their blaster shots. Dash away if they get close to you

because they're packing flamethrowers and fire extinguishers don't seem to exist in the

Star Wars universe.

You can use Lightning attacks and throw other objects at them but they can be difficult

to target. A well aimed Lightsaber Throw will momentarily knock them out of the air.

Enemies that chuck grenades

Some enemies will lob grenades in your direction. If you see it coming you can dash

away or Force Push the grenade back at them.

Enemies with laser sights

If you find yourself bathed in a red tracking laser, dash away before the bad guy gets a

lock on you and sends a missile your way. Take him out before he shoots you if at all

possible but it's usually easier to run away and come back.

Enemies manning gun turrets

You'll find gun turrets all over the place. The best strategy is to block and kill the guy

manning the turret with reflected laser fire. Force Grab the unmanned turret and it will

float above your shoulder, mowing down the opposition. Just hold block and walk

around the room until it runs out of juice.

Droids

Kill. Them. All.

Oh sure, they may seem harmless but believe us when we tell you droids can be the

absolute bane of your existence.

Why?

Because Starkiller will lock onto a droid before he'll lock on to anything else. Picture

this: you open a door and are standing toe to toe with an entire battalion of blood-thirsty

Stormtroopers. You raise your lightsaber to block and Starkiller spins around and locks

onto the astromech droid behind him.

This will happen. So please, kill every droid you see. They deserve it.

You will also run across Interrogator Droids in the Death Star. These guys like to hide

in dark corners and electrocute you before you even notice they're there. They don't do

much damage but they're hard to spot and can incapacitate you for a few seconds so

keep your eyes and ears open.

Page 4: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

Boss Fights

Specific strategies for each encounter are discussed in the walkthrough but there are a

couple constants in each fight we want to address.

Force Locks and Saber Locks - This will happen several times in each fight. Simply

match the onscreen prompts to win the lock and damage your enemy. If you fail, you'll

take damage and a hit to your dignity.

Non Force-wielding opponents like AT-STs have similar sequences. The AT-ST for

example will try to step on you. Follow the onscreen prompts to escape the stomp and

damage the walker. Fail and you'll get squished.

Ending Quick Time Event (QTE) - When the boss is on his or her last few blocks of

health you'll be prompted to follow a series of onscreen prompts. Do it correctly and

enjoy a stylish finish to the fight. Fail and the boss will smack you down and earn back

a bit of health.

Dying - If a boss gets the better of you, you will restart the battle with about 5000 less

Force Points and your opponent will regain a chunk of health. If you find yourself

getting your keister repeatedly handed to you, spend your Force Points before you lose

them.

FORCE POWERS

You will earn Force Points for every enemy that falls to your lightsaber. These points can be used to

upgrade your Force Powers. If you manage to drop several enemies in quick succession you will earn a

multiplier, netting you even more points.

You will lose about 5000 Force Points every time you kick the bucket so, just as you would during a boss

fight, if you find yourself in a very challenging area, consider spending all your Force Points before you

lose them.

Also keep in mind that any character with a gun will give you Force Points whether they're on your side

or not so feel free to wipe out the Wookiee forces you've just helped liberate.

You will not rack up enough Force Points to max out all your Force Powers in a single play through.

Below are our recommendations on which powers are most worthy of your hard-earned Force Points.

Force Push

Not a great offensive attack but it is useful for moving objects and enemies that are in

your way. It's a good opening against a group of enemies before you get Sith Scorcher.

Upgrade? Yep. It will do more damage and travel further. Besides, you'll use this

one a lot.

Page 5: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

Lightning

Zap enemies with a bolt of lightning. Ooh, it tingles! Some of the weaker enemies will

fall to a full blast of this but generally you'll use this to immobilize an enemy in order to

mount a more effective attack.

Upgrade? No. Upgrade to level two if you feel you must but you're going to

want to save your points for Sith Scorcher.

Lightsaber Throw

Although this move leaves you temporarily unable to block, it is a very powerful move

and can kill some enemies in a single hit.

Flying enemies can be instantly killed with this move simply by performing it while

they're suspended over a bottomless pit or molten steel.

Upgrade? Absolutely! This is one of those indispensible moves you will use

often.

Repulse

Send out a blast of Force in all directions. Useful for when you're surrounded. It takes

about half a second to perform so you need a little breathing room to pull it off. Try

jumping into the air first.

Upgrade? Nah. Just use Maelstrom. Same effect but you're invincible while

charging it.

Aerial Assault

It's a Force Push while jumping. Lame.

Upgrade? No. Honestly, we never found much use for it.

Aerial Shock

Perform Lightning while jumping. Not a bad move. You hang in the air a bit while

performing it but it's not that useful.

Upgrade? No. We still recommend sticking with Sith Scorcher.

Choke

Force Grab your enemies and Choke them to death. This move takes a while and you're

left vulnerable while performing it so only use it on the last man standing.

Upgrade? No. Even upgraded this move isn't fast enough to counterbalance how

exposed you are while performing it.

Page 6: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

Sith Strike

Do a two-hit lightsaber combo followed by a Force Push to pick up your target and slam

him into the ground. Eh, this one's okay but you'd have to power it up a bit to kill

anybody notable with it. It's easier to just keep slashing.

Upgrade? Don't bother. It's an easy move to pull off but there are others more

worthy of your hard-earned Force Points.

Storm

A two-hit lightsaber combo followed by Lightning will smack your opponent upside the

head with an electricity-charged lightsaber. Useful when others are crowding you while

you're busy attacking a particular target.

Upgrade? Nope.

Detonate

Okay, now we're talking. This is a fun move. Zap an enemy with a quick jolt of Force

Lightning then send him flying backwards with a Force Push. He'll explode like a bomb.

Try to send guys into groups of enemies. Great for those times when there isn't one of

those flashing explody barrels handy.

Upgrade? Only to level 2. This is difficult to aim so you'll want to rely on Sith

Seeker when you unlock it.

Ground Slam

It's this game's butt stomp. It does a respectable amount of damage and like Repulse will

knock down everyone around you. Just note that you'll be immobile for a split second

after performing this move.

Upgrade? Yes indeedy. You'll use this one a lot.

Saber Whirlwind

This is basically a more complicated Ground Slam. It's set up with a jump and then a

dash in midair. Not that it doesn't look cool or isn't powerful but it's a pain to pull off

and even harder to actually hit something with it.

Upgrade? No.

Saber Assault

It's a Ground Slam coming out of a double jump.

Upgrade? If you have jumpy trigger finger and tend to double jump when you

only meant to jump once then forget upgrading Ground Slam and

upgrade this one instead.

Page 7: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

Dark Rage

Perform a three-hit lightsaber combo then activate this power. You'll drain your Force

meter but your lightsaber attack power will increase and the damage you take will

decrease. It will last until your Force meter fills back up.

Be aware that Starkiller feels the need to flex before swinging his saber when this power

is activated so it can be difficult to start wailing on a particularly aggressive foe.

Upgrade? Maybe to level two if you've got the spare points but this move is

pretty powerful as is.

Pummel

Having trouble hitting the bad guys with the objects you're chucking at them? This is the

move for you. Simply Force Grab a bad guy, perform this move and nearby objects and

enemies will slam into him.

Upgrade? Oh yeah. This is a very useful move. It does decent damage and it

keeps the enemy from shooting you while you're throwing something

at him.

Maelstrom

Works like Repulse but you have to charge it. On the bright side, you're invincible while

charging this attack so use it when you're overwhelmed.

Upgrade? No. Even upgraded this attack doesn't do much damage.

Sith Barrage

A three-hit lightsaber combo followed by Lightning. This one will blow away your

target and pretty much anyone behind him.

Upgrade? No. Fun and visually appealing as this one is, Sith Seeker is the better

bet as it doesn't require such a lengthy setup.

Sith Scorcher

Yeah baby. This is the one you will love. Not only can you fry large groups of enemies

at once but you can also adjust your aim while doing it. This is a great and very useful

attack.

Upgrade? Absolutely. Upgrade it to the max.

Page 8: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

Power Slam

Debatably the most useless move in the game, it isn't visually interesting and it doesn't

do anything useful. Follow up a three-hit lightsaber combo with a Force Push. The

enemy will either die before you do the Force Push, act really unimpressed, or go flying.

If he goes flying you'll just have to chase him down to hit him some more.

Upgrade? No way.

Sith Seeker

Perform a Force Push and then Lightning and you'll send a big ball of electricity at your

enemies. It's Detonate without the need of an enemy to use as the bomb and a lot easier

to aim.

Upgrade? Yes sir, that's my baby. No sir, I don't mean maybe. Yes sir, upgrade

that baby now! All the way!

Yeah, okay. That was lame.

HOLOCRON CUBES AND OTHER COLLECTABLES

Each stage is chockfull of goodies for you to find and collect.

Holocron Cubes

Usually about 10 to 20 in each stage, these can be sitting out in plain sight, hidden

behind objects or up on high ledges and balconies. Some are invisible and will only

appear when certain requirements are met. These requirements usually involve

destroying a certain object so make sure you break everything you can. Walking around

while performing Repulse is a simple albeit slow way to make sure you destroy

everything.

You will hear an R2-D2 chirp when you've uncovered an invisible Holocron.

Force and Health Holocrons

Collect these to increase your Force and Health meters respectively. Your Force and

Health meters will reach their maximum lengths before you collect them all so don't

panic if you miss a few.

Color Crystals

Used to change the color of your lightsaber blade. Not a fan of red? Try puke green

instead.

Lightsaber Hilt

It's exactly what it sounds like. It's a lightsaber hilt. There's no difference between the

different hilts other than aesthetics so pick the one you like best.

Page 9: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

KASHYYYK

Wookiees know they don't pose much of a threat to a Dark Lord of the Sith so they've set up several

barricades and gun turrets. Approach each gun turret while holding block. You'll kill the gunner with

reflected laser fire by the time you reach him. Pick up the turret with Force Grab and continue through the

stage while holding block. The turret will float above your shoulder mowing down those ornery

Wookiees and you'll reflect any incoming blaster fire.

For those times when there's no turret handy, simply Force Grab the Wookiees one by one and chuck

them off the bridges and platforms to their deaths. Use your lightsaber on any that get too close. Single

enemies can be Force Choked to death. In fact, you can pretty much walk through this entire level simply

holding the Force Choke button. It may not be the most entertaining way to proceed but it's certainly

efficient.

Rogue Jedi

This guy's a bit of a push over (hey, it's the first level, what'd you expect?). Just wiggle your lightsaber at

him and he's toast.

If there's distance between the two of you, block and walk towards him. You'll deflect his lightsaber or

any other object he chucks it at you and be prepared if he suddenly dashes in to attack. If he does dash in

to attack, keep blocking until he's done and then counterattack with a lightsaber combo of your own.

If you get caught with a Force Push, simply jump while in the air to land on your feet and lessen the

damage.

After you've whittled his health down to about halfway, the Rogue Jedi (Eddie to his friends) will chuck

what we in the business like to call Force Tumbleweeds at you. Jump over these small rolling balls of

Force and keep whacking him with your saber. Eventually, you'll whittle his health down far enough to

start a Quick Time Event (QTE). Follow the onscreen prompts to slap him around and totally embarrass

him in front of his son.

Then kill him in front of his son. Yeah, that'll never come back around to bite Vader in the ass.

TIE CONSTRUCTION FACILITY

Gee, Juno sure is lax with the dress code for such a highly decorated Imperial officer. Not that we mind.

After all, what better way to pass the time traveling through space then by staring at such a nice pair of...

Sorry, went off on a tangent there.

Anyway, as soon as your pilot with the malfunctioning zipper drops you off, it's time to start killing

people. Yay!

Eliminate enemies in corridors by approaching them while holding block. You will take out a bunch of

them with reflected fire. Use Force or lightsaber attacks to deal with the rest. If you notice a red tracking

laser, either dash out of the way or Force Grab whomever is about to shoot you and throw him into a wall

or other enemy.

Page 12: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

Hold block whenever you enter a large open space like one of the hangers. This will give you a moment

to assess the situation and determine where the largest threat is. Locate the turret and approach it while

holding block. You will very likely kill the gunner with reflected fire before you get there. Force Grab the

turret and walk around while blocking to thin out the rest.

If you there is no turret, you accidently destroy it, or there are still baddies left, make frequent use of dash

to move around the room and slaughter the rest of them. Be careful of the flashing barrels. They make

great projectiles but they can just as easily damage you if they blowup next to you.

In the multi-level hanger, use the Force to make stairs out of the TIE wings by standing near a stack and

following the onscreen prompt.

AT-ST

For some reason, the Imperials will think the AT-ST is a bigger threat then you (fools!) and will focus

their attention on it instead. You can use this to your advantage and attack the AT-ST while it's distracted.

However, if you want Force Points, you'll have to kill the Imperials before the walker does.

Block the AT-ST's fire or hide behind something until it turns around then chuck an object like one of the

explosive barrels at it. Lightning works too. You can also stand under it and slash at its feet. You'll avoid

laser fire but risk being stepped on.

Eventually you'll whittle its health down to the point where you'll be prompted to finish it by matching

the onscreen prompts. Revel in your victory and wonder why you can use the Force to drag a dropship in

from outer space but can't chuck an AT-ST out.

Page 13: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

Kota

While Kota is susceptible to Force attacks he will often shake off a Force Grab and dashes around enough

to make throwing things at him tricky. One good approach is to stay on the offensive and keep attacking

him with your lightsaber. If he pushes you back with the Force, jump while flying backwards to land on

your feet and lessen the damage.

Keep your guard up when at distance as Kota is likely to chuck his lightsaber at that soft spot in your

head. Once you see an opening, dash in and start wailing on him again.

You'll knock him down if you win a Force or Saber lock so immediately zap him with Lightning before

he gets back up, dash in and start swinging.

Once you get his health down to about half, Kota will be much easier to Force Grab. Feel free to pick him

up and choke him, chuck your saber at him, or throw him across the room.

If Kota starts a Force Maelstrom, get as far away from him as you can. Hang back until he's done. If

you're far enough away, the Maelstrom won't hit you.

Kota will speed up and fight more aggressively the more damage you do but he'll also become more

susceptible to Force Grabs.

to reach the high walkway.

• Cube 3 - Behind one of the wall panels in the corridor past the first hanger.

• Cube 4 - Under a container on the second level.

• Cube 5 - There's a Force Door in the corner. Break it down and you'll find it inside.

• Cube 6 - On the large TIE wing crate on the second level. Hitch a ride on the mechanical arm

moving TIE wings to reach it. Be careful not to jump up to the third level before you grab it

because you won't be able to go back down.

• Color Crystal - On the stairs leading out of the hanger bay.

• Cube 7 - Near the fire in the corridor.

• Cube 8 - Behind a wall panel a bit further down the corridor.

double jump to reach it.

• Health Holocron - On the stairs leading out of the third hangar.

• Cube 11 - A bit further down that corridor.

• Cube 12 - Destroy all the wall panels in this corridor and it will appear at the end.

• Cube 13 - In the room on the second floor before you ride up the second elevator.

• Cube 14 - Take the second elevator up and you'll see it but won't be able to move. Get off the

elevator and wait for it to go back down. Now drop off the edge where the elevator would be and

you'll just barely land on the platform where the Holocron Cube is sitting. You might have to

jump again to keep from sliding off.

• Force Holocron - On the walkway after the second elevator.

AT-ST

• Cube 15 - Destroy the four red towers in the AT-ST room. Then stack a cylinder on a crate to

reach the upper balcony. It'll be up there waiting for you.

• Cube 16 - In the small corridor between the two large rooms after the AT-ST, you'll see it on a

ledge above the door. Jump to it from the ledge above the opposite door.

• Cube 17 - In the far right corner of the next room.

• Cube 18 - In the corner on the left where the corridor turns right.

• Cube 19 - Behind the console on the right in the room before Rahm Kota. Use Force Push to free

it.

• Cube 20 - If you killed all the level's enemies, it will be sitting in the last room before Rahm Kota.

JEDI TEMPLE

You arrive and the Stormtroopers start giving you guff. Something about the Empire deeming this area

off limits. Do you care? Nope.

You'll meet heavy resistance in the main temple room. Immediately block and figure out where the

heaviest fire power is coming from. It's a turret to the right. When it stops firing for a moment, dash over

and steal it to use against the opposition.

Past the main temple room you'll run into a bunch of guys with electric cattle prods. For some reason

these things more than stand up to your lightsaber so attack them from a distance. Zap them with

Lightning or Force Grab and chuck them into each other.

Darth Desolous

Feel free to fight up close using lightsaber combos, Lightning, and Ground Slam but if you really want to

kick his butt and look cool doing it, toss a few large chunks of rock at him. The room is big enough and

he's slow enough to pull this off. You can also pretty easily Force Grab him so pick him up and throw

your lightsaber at him often. Just be aware that he's fond of chucking his own lightsaber at you so be

prepared to block or dash out of the way.

If Desolous surrounds himself with an energy field, keep your distance until it's gone. Touch it and you'll

go boom.

Stay aggressive. If you knock him to the ground he may stay there for a moment to catch his breath. Don't

allow him the luxury. Keep wailing on him 'til he's down for good.

RAXIS PRIME

While another man's trash is another man's treasure, I think we're all in agreement that all of this crap is

trash. Well, except for the junk robot dogs. Those are pretty cool and we wouldn't mind having one

guarding the office.

Junk robots are like your average Stormtroopers or Rebels. Basically saber fodder so you don't have to

worry about them too much. A Force Grab and Lightsaber Throw should do the trick.

Junk robot dogs can be a little trickier and you'll want to focus your attention on them when they make

the scene. Use Ground Slam to keep other junk robots off your back when fighting them.

Junk Behemoth

Use dash to stay out of its reach and attack with objects (preferably the flashing explody type) and

Lightning. If it gets close, use a Ground Slam then dash away and continue your Lightning attacks. The

Behemoth will usually block while you're frying it and will take a moment to recover, long enough to

recharge enough Force to fry it again.

Drexl

Open with a Force Push to clear away Drexl's men then dash around, mopping them up as quickly as you

can.

Now that it's just you and Drexl, Force Grab him and chuck him against a wall. Once he hits the ground,

start frying him with Force Lightning. Walk over to him while you're zapping him and if he hasn't got to

his feet yet, start slashing away.

Drexl is pretty fast so if he's on his feet and rushing you, just block. As soon as you have an opening, do a

Force Grab and repeat the process. Use a Ground Slam if he backs you into a corner.

Titan

This guy packs a punch so it's best to stay as far away as you can and attack from a distance. There are a

lot of bombs laying around that you can use to chuck at him.

Page 19: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

Don't bother fighting the junk robots, just pick them up and throw them at the Titan.

If the Titan swings its weapon at you, jump. If it throws a big hunk of metal at your head, jump or dash

out of the way.

Kazdan Paratus

Kazdan is pretty good with a lightsaber so your best bet is to just pick him up and toss him around. You

can zap him with Lightning and throw big pieces of trash at him but it's quicker to just keep picking him

up and chucking him.

If he gets near you and starts attacking, block. As soon as he pauses, dash or jump away and resume

attacking from a distance.

JEDI TEMPLE (2nd visit)

The Stormtroopers have beefed up their forces since you last dropped by for a visit. Keep the guys with

the electric cattle prods away from you. If they approach, quickly pick them up and chuck them into a

wall or nearby trooper.

Keep your guard up in the temple's main area. There are a lot of guys in here and they all want you dead.

Take care of the turrets first and then mop up the rest.

Darth Phobos

While you can Force Grab her, she'll break your hold quickly so immediately use Pummel or slam her

against a wall. Dash to her and start smacking her with your saber before she gets back up.

Page 22: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

Repulse works well if she's crowding you so block her saber attacks and Repulse the moment she lets up.

Dash to her and hammer on her before she gets up again.

When your view goes fuzzy, keep dashing around the room. If you're low on Force at the moment, hold

block.

Eventually, Phobos will clone herself. Try to get them near each other and use a Ground Slam to destroy

the clone and damage Phobos at the same time.

Just be relentless. She's very fast and she'll take advantage of your indecisiveness if you just stand around.

If she hits you with a Force Push, jump to land on your feet.

FELUCIA

Felucians can be a bit of a nuisance, especially if they surround you. Your best bet is to pick them off

from a distance. Keep your eyes on the road ahead and as soon as you see one, Force Grab him and throw

your lightsaber at him. That will kill them instantly if you've upped your Lightsaber Throw ability. Use a

quick blast of lightning to stop anyone else while you wait for your lightsaber to return.

Of course, you can only throw your lightsaber so fast so one of them is bound to reach you eventually. If

that happens, just do a Repulse and dash away. These guys are not easy to fight up close so keep attacking

from a distance.

Any Felucian emitting a green cloud of gas has the ability to heal his buddies so concentrate on those

guys first.

Also be aware of the gaseous green plants. You can use them as weapons but they'll explode if you so

much as touch them so be careful.

Rancor

Spam Maelstrom. He can't hit you while you're charging. It's a cheap tactic but it's effective.

If that's not your style then hit him with Lightning or a few quick slashes then dash away out of his reach.

You can also throw things at him, preferably any Felucians that are giving you a hard time or one of those

exploding green gas plants.

Page 24: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

Two Rancors

You have a lot of room to maneuver in this area so hang back and throw stuff. That includes Lightning

and your lightsaber. Don't worry about the Felucians; as long as you're mobile they'll likely end up getting

trampled by a Rancor.

If you get cornered, use Maelstrom, make a few quick slashes and dash away.

Shaak Ti

There aren't many objects to throw at her and she's pretty resistant to being picked up so your best bet is

Lightning and saber attacks. If you do manage to Force Grab her do a quick Lightsaber Throw. You

might even get in two or three before she charges you.

If she powers up (glowing white force field), do a Ground Slam or electrocute her.

Eventually, Shaak Ti will call for help. Use Force Push, Repulse, or Maelstrom to knock everyone down

and target the green gas Felucian first or he'll end up healing Shaak Ti.

VADER'S FLAGSHIP

Cutscene! Yay!

And wait, what's this? More unlockables? Sweet!

Unlockables Sith Scorcher | Blaster Block ability increased | Sith Robe

NAR SHADDAA

Bar fight! Bar fight! The sooner you clean out the riffraff, the sooner you can watch the girlies dance.

See that concentrated group of surly bar patrons standing in front of you? Now would be a good time to

test out your new Force power. Fry them with Sith Scorcher.

The pig guards are big brutes and can take a pretty good licking. Try zapping them to keep them from

moving and hitting them with a heavy object or other enemy. Be wary when these guys are around as

they'll ram you if you're not paying attention.

Rodians (the green guys) are weak but they chuck grenades so pick them up (the Rodians, not the

grenades) and toss them or zap them and dash over and hit them upside the head with your lightsaber.

Grenades can be Force Pushed back.

Shadow Guard

Start the fight with a Sith Scorcher since everyone is conveniently standing directly in front of you. The

Shadow Guard is very resistant to Force Pushes and Grabs so pick up objects and Stormtroopers to toss

into him. This will usually knock him off his feet. Give him a good zap of Lightning while you walk up to

him and slash him.

This is your pattern: knock him to the ground, zap him with Lightning then slash him with your

lightsaber. If you have nothing to throw, block until he gets near you and then do a Ground Slam.

Page 28: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

Eventually the Shadow Guard will summon Shadow Stormtroopers. These guys pack a punch so dash to

one end of the bar and turn around. With everyone in front of you, unleash another Sith Scorcher. Pick up

whoever is left and chuck him at the Shadow Guard.

If you get caught in a Force Choke, use Lightning to escape.

JEDI TEMPLE (3rd Visit)

Oh for crying out loud not this place again! Even Juno is like, "Again?"

Yes, again.

Okay, this stage introduces Jetpack Stormtroopers. You will hate these guys. They're hard to hit, have

rapid fire blasters and take a lot of damage. They even have flamethrowers.

Keep your distance and attack from afar. It can be difficult to get a lock on them when there are lots of

objects and enemies in the room so Lightning or throwing things at them is usually a good bet. If you do

manage to grab them, slam them into the ground and dash over to slash them or fry them with Sith

Scorcher.

When you're down to the last one in the room, grab him and Force Choke him to death. It's slow but

effective.

Rouge Jedi (daddy)

He's a tough one. Looks like he's been practicing since Vader handed his ass to him all those years ago.

Don't try chucking stuff at him; he's too fast. He also isn't much impressed with Ground Slams, Repulse,

Maelstrom or Sith Scorcher either.

Block until he lays off for a moment. As soon as he lets up, hit him with a quick blast of Force Lightning.

This will open him up to saber attacks. Dash in and wail away.

If he catches you with one of his rolling Force Tumbleweeds, jump to escape it.

Towards the end of the fight he'll start glowing blue and use Force Repulse more often. Keep laying into

him until the final QTE begins.

KASHYYYK

While Wookiees will attack the Stormtroopers, you don't get Force Points for the ones they kill. It's best

to use them as a distraction. Have them engage the troops while you stand off to the side and fry the

troopers with Sith Scorcher. Once the area is clear of enemies, kill the Wookiees too. Sure it's mean but

they're worth Force Points.

If you hear a Wookiee's distinctive cry but don't see any around they are probably locked up in big steel

cages. Slash the cage with your lightsaber to release them.

Your strategy for dealing with the Imperials is the same as ever. Block while you assess the situation.

Take out any turrets first and use them on the Stormtroopers. There are Jetpack Stormtroopers who are

always a pain and there are troopers with electric cattle prods. These things sting so keep your distance

and fry them with Lightning or flatten them with projectiles. If they get too close, use Repulse.

Occasionally, you'll also see a trooper surrounded by a glowing green mist. These guys will heal their

buddies so take them out as soon as you spot them.

Also, topple any guard towers you see. They look like white telephone poles. If you ever find yourself

wondering where that blaster fire is coming from, odds are someone is shooting you from atop one of

those.

Page 32: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

AT-ST

Do a quick Sith Scorcher to thin out the crowd gathered around the walker's feet then dash to the turret.

Force Grab the turret and use it to take out the rest of the Stormtroopers.

This AT-ST fires missiles so it's not a good idea to stand in front of it because blocking won't deflect

them. Dash behind its legs and Sith Scorch or slash with your lightsaber. Stick to its legs and try to stay

behind it.

Another AT-ST

Same deal here but there's a Wookiee-manned turret to the left as you approach the walker. Stay behind it

and use the turret and Lightning to take it down.

Ozzik Sturn (Big bad AT-ST)

Keep on the move as much as you can and try to stay away from explosive items. There is so much

blaster fire flying around in this battle that you're bound to get caught in an explosion. Don't worry about

the Stormtroopers as they'll be cut down by laser fire or stepped on very quickly. Use Repulse if they

crowd you but again, be wary of any nearby explosives.

You won't do much damage to Sturn before he takes advantage of the force field generators surrounding

him. Identify and attack the generator that is providing him his force field and hide behind it. While

you're shielded from his fire, start slashing away at the generator. As soon as it glows blue, back off and

Force Grab it to rip it off its mount. You'll have to repeat this for all the generators.

Once all the generators are destroyed, concentrate on Sturn. Treat him like any other missile equipped

AT-ST: stay behind him and attack his legs or zap him with Sith Scorcher.

FELUCIA

Use the Rebel forces to distract the Stormtroopers but try to do most of the work as you won't get Force

Points for enemies you do not kill. After you've cleaned up the Imperials, butcher the Rebels for even

more Force Points.

The Felucians are just as annoying as ever. Always try to pick them off from a distance. Force Grab and

Lightsaber Throw works well. Repulse if you're surrounded. Make sure you prioritize the Felucians with

the glowing green mist surrounding them as they'll heal their buddies if left alone.

Page 35: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

You'll also have to deal with Felucian snipers. If you get tagged with a blue laser, that's them. Find them

and kill them. They're usually sitting on one of those tall purple mushrooms.

Oh, and try not to accidentally blow yourself up by walking into one of the exploding gas plants. They do

make great projectiles but they are really easy to inadvertently dash into.

Bull Rancor

This guy is a severe pain in the bum. He's too fast to throw stuff at so you'll want to stick to Sith Scorcher

and Lightsaber Throws. Hit him quickly and dash away being careful not to dash straight into an

explosive plant.

It's very hard not to get hit in this fight so don't worry about taking a bit of damage. There are so many

health pickups laying around you'll probably land on one after being swatted.

Maris Brood

Hit Maris with a quick jolt of Lightning then dash in and start slashing at her. She won't take much

damage before she calls on the assistance of the locals. There are a few healers in this group so as soon as

they show up, dash away and turn around so that you can see everyone at once. Let them have it with a

Sith Scorcher. Now focus on Maris. Use a combination of Sith Scorcher and lightsaber attacks.

Once you get her health down to half way, you'll have to deal with a rancor. This guy is not as tough as

his buddies. In fact, if you've upped your Sith Scorcher you can take him down with just two or three full

blasts.

Page 36: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

Once the rancor is down, Maris will reappear with a full health bar. Zap her with Lightning and dash in

close. Do a quick, three-hit combo and activate Dark Rage. You'll have to wait for an opening so make

judicious use of block. As soon as she lets her guard down, attack her. With Dark Rage enabled you will

be able to finish her very quickly.

Unlike Wookiees and Rebels, Jawas don't yield any Force Points when slaughtered. That's not to say it's

any less fun to Force Choke them or slam them into a wall.

This is a very action packed level and you will face all your favorites: jetpack troopers, healing troopers,

cattle prod troopers, missile-launcher troopers—the works. If you're in an enclosed area, Sith Scorcher is

your best friend.

Page 38: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

Once you get to the wide open areas with the lakes of molten steel, Starkiller's retard switch will flip on.

You see, in front of you will be a dozen Stormtroopers of various types all trying to make you dead. You

might try to block but moron will turn around and lock onto the harmless little rolling droid behind him.

This happens almost every time. No matter where you are, dipstick will lock onto the most harmless thing

in the entire facility and turn his back on the guys with the guns.

The moral of the story? Block sparingly. Use hit and run tactics. Fry a group of troopers and dash away.

Toss a few of them into the molten steel and dash away. Just be sure to keep on the move.

Oh, and if you want to toss a jetpack trooper into the molten steel simply Force Grab one, move him over

the steel and throw your lightsaber at him.

Each large area is separated by a force field. There will be generators on both sides. Destroy them to

lower the force field but do it from a distance because they explode. Keep in mind that although you can't

pass through the force field while it's up, Stormtroopers and other objects can (wow, that's a very

discriminating force field!). Destroy the generators on the other side by throwing objects and

Stormtroopers at them.

Sith Scorcher or saber attacks. There are also several exploding barrels around the room you can chuck at

it but only attempt to do so when its back is turned.

Shadow Guard

The key to beating the Shadow Guard is to continually knock him on his butt and slash at him before he

has a chance to defend himself. Two good ways to knock him down are to chuck an object/enemy at him

or do a Ground Slam. The latter can be a bit tough to pull off as he will often swat you out of the air.

If he starts charging up Maelstrom, retreat to a far end of the area to avoid it.

Every now and then a few Shadow Stormtroopers will appear to lend him a hand. When they show up,

dash to the far end of the area and turn around. With everyone in front of you, let loose with a Sith

Scorcher. Pick up whoever is still alive and chuck him at the Shadow Guard.

Towards the end of the fight, the Shadow Guard will attack you with Lightning. Simply block until he's

done.

CLOUD CITY

Harming unarmed pedestrians and droids can be fun and therapeutic but it does not yield Force Points. On

the other hand, there is no penalty for butchering Cloud City's citizens so if you're really feeling the dark

side today, knock yourself out.

Cloud City infantry, on the other hand, do offer Force Points so use them to distract Chop'aa's thugs then

kill them when the battle's over. Yes, it's mean but Force Power upgrades are expensive so you gotta do

what you gotta do.

In Cloud City, you're never far from a balcony or open window so most of your enemies can be quickly

dealt with by Force Grabbing and tossing them outside or over a railing.

Feel free to spam Sith Scorcher, Detonate, and Sith Seeker when you're in corridors.

If you see someone lobbing a red grenade at you, use Force Push to send it back their way.

Mandalorians

Most Mandalorians will attack you from outside. Just like dropping a jetpack trooper into a vat of molten

steel, Force Grab them and throw your lightsaber at them. They'll plummet to their deaths.

For the ones you can't toss outside. Knock them out of the air by throwing stuff at them then run up and

slash them. You can also keep the fight at a distance by using Lightning, Pummel, and Sith Seeker

attacks. When you hear a missile being shot at you, keep dashing until it explodes somewhere (hopefully

not at your feet).

Kleef

Ignore Kleef's robotic bodyguards and concentrate on him. Dash to the opposite side of the room to lure

the robots away from him (you can hit him with Sith Seekers or objects in the meantime). Once you've

drawn them away, dash to Kleef and attack him with your lightsaber. As soon as the big robots come

back or you're sighted with a targeting laser, dash away and repeat the process.

Once Kleef is dead, ride the elevator back up to the room and defeat his robots for a few extra Force

Points. A couple Sith Scorchers will do the trick.

Chop'aa

Ignore Chop'aa and concentrate on killing the Mandalorians. Dash around the room, keeping your

distance from Chop'aa. When you spot a Mandalorian, Force Grip him and use Pummel. If you can

manage to throw a bomb at one of them, even better.

As soon as the Mandalorians are taken care of, Chop'aa will hop into a giant mech. Hit him with a quick

(and we do mean quick) Sith Scorcher and as soon as he charges, dash away. Keep your distance until

your Force meter recharges then hit him with Sith Scorcher again. If you find a bomb between you and

him, go ahead and throw it at him.

If you get far enough away, he'll float in the air and shoot at you. You can block or keep dashing to avoid

the laser blasts.

Once most of his health is gone he'll try to squash you. As soon as he tries, jump out of the way and

perform a Ground Slam or Lightning attack.

Soon you'll trigger the QTE that will yank his sorry hide out of his robot. Now it's just you and him. Other

than a Ground Slam, Chop'aa doesn't have a ranged attack so you can play it safe attacking him from a

distance. That said, he's a bit of a pushover so feel free to attack him with your lightsaber up close and

personal.

CORELLIA

Another level made up entirely of cinematics and no gameplay? What is this, a Metal Gear Solid game?

Yeah, we went there.

DEATH STAR

Blocking is your friend in this level. There are a lot of bad guys and they all have guns so hang back and

block. If you're patient, you'll take most of them out with their reflected blaster shots. Try to force them

into choke points like doorways and small corridors then fry them with Sith Scorcher or Sith Seeker.

And don't be shy about chucking Stormtroopers and other baddies out into space or into the firing tube. It

may seem cheep but hey, them's the breaks.

Flying troopers are still a pain so if at all possible, Force Grab them and throw your lightsaber at them

while holding them over a bottomless pit. That will instantly kill them.

Oh, and don't leave a room without killing all the droids first. The last thing you want is to open the door

to a battalion of Stormtroopers and raise your guard only to spin around and lock onto the protocol droid

standing behind you. We swear Starkiller needs to get his priorities straight.

There are also very few health pickups in this stage so take advantage of the ones the green-cloud encased

troopers drop when you kill them. This is the only stage you may want to kill them last to best take

advantage of their drops.

About halfway through the stage you'll have to destroy four tractor beam generators, two near you and

two across a chasm. Take care of the two near you however you like but you'll have to find something to

Page 49: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

throw at the two across the way. If you're uber stylish like IGN's esteemed guide writers you'll pluck a

passing TIE out of the air with the Force and use that.

AT-ST

Same as usual. Try to stay behind it and attack its legs or fry it with Lightning. There are a lot of bombs

around the area so you should be able to use a few of those. There are several up on the balcony where the

Color Crystal is; just be aware that the walker's blaster fire can detonate them so be careful.

Under the balcony can be a good place to attack from as the AT-ST can't hit you if it's close by. It will

eventually walk away and turn around though so you won't be safe there forever.

Vader

Ignore Force Grabs and Pushes. They won't work. Lightning on the other hand, works great. Fry Vader

until you end up in a Force lock. Win and he'll stand there reeling. Dash on over and hack away with your

lightsaber. When he starts fighting back, block until he finishes his combo. Back away and fry him again.

You'll have him licked in no time.

If Vader Force Grabs you, use Lightning to break free. If you get caught with a Force Push, jump out of

it.

When you defeat Vader you'll have to decide whether you want to keep fighting him or mix it up with the

Emperor. Will you give in to the Dark Side and kill Vader or will you embrace good and kill the

Emperor?

Yeah, well to be honest we're a little fuzzy on the morality there too but hey, whatever path you choose,

we've got a strategy for you.

Page 50: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

Vader (once more with feeling)

Vader is on his last legs so this shouldn't take long. Rush over and start attacking him. Block as soon as

he counters and wait for an opening to back away. Once you've put some distance between yourself and

Vader hit him with Sith Scorcher then start attacking with your lightsaber again.

Wash, rinse and repeat.

Unlockables Sith Stalker Armor

Emperor

Keep moving and jumping to avoid the Emperor's Force Push and Lightning attacks. If he does catch you,

block the Lightning attacks and jump out of the Force Pushes.

Do a Ground Slam to knock him off his feet. Run up and start wailing away with your lightsaber. As you

whittle down his health you will be able to pick him up with Force Grab, albeit briefly. After knocking

him down with a Ground Slam (or winning a Force or Saber lock) quickly pick him up and use Pummel

to slam big, heavy objects into his face. Repeat the process with another Ground Slam.

As the fight continues, use more and more Force powers. Simple Force Pushes, Sith Scorcher, and Sith

Seeker all work well. Towards the end of the fight you're going to be tossing him around like a rag doll.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Q & A

Hey, where the heck is the level select?

There isn't one. You have to play through the entire game in order to replay a favorite

stage.

Nuts! I missed a Holocron Cube. How do I figure out which one I missed?

Unfortunately, the game doesn't track which collectibles you've collected from which

level. If you're missing one Holocron Cube, it could be anywhere.

You can kind of narrow it down by looking at the Holocron Viewer. They're not all in

the order you find them but it's pretty close. Your best bet is to follow our guide and get

them all in a single play through.

I can't find a particular Holocron Cube! What am I doing wrong?

Probably nothing. We ran into three instances where a Holocron Cube or Lightsaber Hilt

wasn't where it was supposed to be. Exiting to the Rogue Shadow and restarting the

level fixed the issue.

Starkiller? His name is Starkiller? That's rather lacking in subtlety. Is he

compensating for something with that name?

Page 53: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

Either that or his given name is Marvin.

Okay, well why does Starkiller keep locking on to harmless droids when there's an

entire battalion of gun-toting Stormstroopers in front of him?

We think he may have been probed a bit too deep by an Interrogator droid when he was

a youngling if you catch our drift.

Either that or he's just stupid.

Just make sure you kill all the droids in a room before leaving. That way you won't lock

on to something behind you when you enter the next room.

What's the best Force Power?

Sith Scorcher is our favorite. It attacks a lot of enemies at once, does decent damage,

and you can adjust your aim while performing it.

Hey! Where's the black Color Crystal?

It's in the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. Sorry.

Is there any point to changing Lightsaber Hilts or Color Crystals?

Other than aesthetics, no. Neither alters your fighting style or stats.

Should I have this spot on my arm looked at? I'm pretty sure it's just a mole.

Get it biopsied. You can never be too careful.

What do I get for collecting every Holocron Cube, Force Holocron, Health

Holocron, Color Crystal, and Lightsaber Hilt in the game?

Nothing beyond the obvious: all the concept art will be viewable in the gallery, you'll

have longer Force and Health meters (although they stop growing after a while), and

you'll have the most customization options for your lightsaber.

How may play throughs would it take me to max out all my Force Powers?

About three.

What if I only plan on playing through the game once?

You keep all your Force Points when you exit a level and return to the Rogue Shadow

so you can play the same level over and over to rack up the Force Points.

Or you could enter "KATARN" in the cheat menu.

Page 54: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Secrets

You cannot be hurt while charging up Maelstrom. Unfortunately, even when completely

powered up it's not a very strong attack but it's still great for catching your breath when

a rancor is stomping on your head or an Imperial is trying to shove an electric cattle

prod up your bum.

You will hear an R2-D2 chirp when you've done something to uncover an invisible

Holocron Cube.

You don't have to be hitting an enemy to perform the Force Powers that require a two or

three-hit combo lead in.

Want to play as a different character? Max out all your Force Powers? Have an infinite

Force meter? IGN Cheats has you covered.

Some final tips (may seem obvious if you’ve already played the game)

Gravity is a wonderful force power – WTF? – OK – some levels are based on platforms – falucia at the

start is one of them and also cloud city and Nar Shaddaarr – simply force grip the opponent and move

them over the drop and let them go.

This can also be done to jump troopers too – however – in order to kill them – you need to throw the

sabre into them when they are over the drop – they will then drop to the floor with no pack power and

boom – dead jump troopers (works especially well on Death Star level) – like wise you can force push

enemies of drops or the repulse thing too.

Page 55: The Force Unleashed PS2 Guide - Jedi · Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you do exactly none of these things. But that's okay. You can still Force Choke Jawas, eviscerate

Another tip – gather as much ‘ammunition’ as you can – objects you can throw as weapons (barrels and

girders etc) hoard them where possible – it takes more time, especially in narrow corridors – but it canbe

worth the effort in a big fight and crowded rooms.

Watch your six – raxis prime (with the robots) is especially a pain for this – the bots spawn behind you

quite often so be aware of this.

Want an easy way to prevent cutscenes? Simply select one of the costumes you’ve unlocked – if you use

anything other than the standard skin – you cant watch cutscenes

When you have an enemy or an object in force grip – try pressing other buttons o the controller – one of

them makes nearby object fly towards the object you have in your hand – on wookieworld – force grip a

tree (that you haven’t destroyed yet) and do this – watch the troopers become dead squirrels or nearby

objects will break the tree for you.

When you have completed the game – have some real fun – play it again (and possibly again) the reason?

You have have the chance to take ALL your force powers and points (health too) into the new game – so

don't forget to learn the new combos for new powers.

Final warning – the game has at least 1 major glitch – on two occasions now – at a certain point on raxis

prime (robot level) there is a point with two large robots guarding a door which appear as you approach or

at least they should – now you have to kill them before you can force push open the door – on two

occasions they have not spawned and thus no pass the door – the only solution is to return to the ship and

replay the mission (don't reset your ps2 as this only repeats the glitch).

Lucky its only about 1/3rd of the way into the level and npt the end. Anyway – just be aware of it – some

people have problems here – others don't.
