Eating Right Every Day Do you know how to keep yourself
healthy? As you continue on through this presentation you will be
learning about what foods you should be eating and the types of
activities that will help keep your body happy.

Grains What makes up the Grain Group? Foods made from: Wheat,
Corn, or Oats Can you think of any examples? Rice, Bread, Popcorn,
Oatmeal, Pasta, Pretzels Did you know that you should be eating 6
to 11 servings of the Grain Group each day?

Vegetables What are some examples of vegetables that you can
think of? Broccoli, Spinach, Carrots, Pumpkin, Peas, Cabbage Did
you know that you should be eating 3 to 5 servings of vegetables a
day?

Fruits Can you name some of the fruits that we have in our
area? Apples, Bananas, Strawberries, Lemons, Oranges Did you know
that you should be eating 2 to 4 servings of fruit each day?

Oils What are examples of Oils that you can come up with? Olive
oil, Sunflower oil, Nuts, Olives, some fish, avocados Did you know
that Oils are to be used sparingly (not a lot) in your daily
nutritional intake?

Milk Can you think of examples of things that would fall into
the milk (or dairy) group? Milk, Pudding, Ice Cream, Cheese, Yogurt
Did you know that you should be getting 2 to 4 servings of milk a
day?

Meat and Beans Other things aside from just meat and beans make
up the protein group, can you think of any examples? Pork, Beef,
Chicken, Eggs, Beans, Nuts, Fish Did you know that you should be
getting 2 to 3 servings a day of protein?

Physical Activity What is physical activity? Physical activity
is defined as: any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles
that results in energy expenditure beyond resting expenditure.
There are two different types of activities: moderate and vigorous
activity. What are examples of each? Moderate: walking, dancing,
leisurely bicycling, yoga Vigorous: Jogging/Running, Weight
Training, Swimming Are you aware that you should be getting 30
minutes of exercise each day?
