Welcome

Kate Robertson welcomed everyone to the 2015 SRC AGM.

Chairmans Report

The club has a healthy number of members. There is a strong contingent of ultra runners and SRC are well represented in races. Despite the large membership there has been a low turnout at both the ceilidh and AGM and the next committee should be encouraged to bring cohesion.

Ronald Gauld was given a special mention for his success throughout the year.

Thank you was given to all the coaches for their commitment and enthusiasm.

Thank you was given to the current committee for their work throughout the year.

A special thank you was given to Neil Easton for organising the successful club weekend.

Thanks were given to John Robson and Fiona Smith who are both stepping down from the committee at the AGM.

At the recent D33 there were 16 members representing the club which is a great start to the year. There will be 5 SRC ladies competing at the Highland Fling Ultra at the end of April and the club will also be providing sweepers for the event.

The new club kit order has been placed and is due for delivery a week after Easter.

Treasurers Report

The club finances are in a healthy position. At the start of 2014 approximately 2500 was in the SRC bank account and the year finished with just over 2000.

Membership Report

There are currently 130 members.

Membership will again run from the start April 2015 to end March 2016. An early bird offer will be available of 15 if paid by the end April, then from the start of May membership will be 16. Details to be sent out.

Election of Office Bearers

John Robson and Fiona Smith are both stepping down from the committee. A presentation was made to John to thank him for all the support he has given to the club over the years in his roles on the committee and also as a coach.

Garry Gutteridge, Chris Cowley and Nicola Rhind will join the new committee.

The 2015 2016 committee will be:

Coaches Update

The following was read out on behalf of the Stonehaven Half Marathon:

The 2014 Stonehaven Half Marathon and 1k Fun Run were once again a resounding success. The weather was sunny and hot; the committee and club members put on an amazing event which was praised by all. There was a field of about 360 runners; numbers have increased gradually over the last few years and it is likely that the committee will increase numbers to 500 for 2015.

The main sponsor for the fun run was once again Specsavers (and they will be for 2015 as well), they provided t-shirts and medals to all finishers although numbers were a little down on the previous year.

The 2015 half marathon will be its 30th year of operation and will take place on Sunday 5th July. The committee are hopeful to secure sufficient sponsors this year to provide all runners with a technical t-shirt (as well as the much coveted medal!). all finishers although years and The purchase of the t-shirts will also use up some of the 7000 reserves in the bank (a profit of just over 1000 was made in 2014 mainly due to the number of entries received).

Police Scotland have said they cannot support road events any longer; this means we will have to maybe adjust the town route for this year and probably have to devise a completely different route for 2016. Any suggestions on a route please speak to one of the Half Marathon committee members.

Thanks to all the committee members for 2014 who are continuing with their support in 2015 (John Ritchie, Richard Clark, Iain Shanks, Stewart Melvin, Jonathon Kennedy, Graham Walker, Frances Richards), and to 2 new committee members for 2015 (Andries Spies and Iain Steel).

We will be once again be looking for support from the club for the 2015 half marathon in the following ways:

As a member of the committee (especially of the female variety!)

Help on the day

Help in the week prior to the event (e.g. Goody bag stuffing)

Provision of sandwiches and refreshments for runners and marshals on the day

Help with distribution of posters (companies and community venues all over Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire)

Providing sponsorship (100 upwards) through your company or a local organisation you may be aware of

Promotion of the event through your own or company websites, social media or word of mouth

If you can help with any of the above please send an email to [email protected]
