• The following instructions are for setting up your course calendar to sync your Google calendar (Step 1) and the Calendar App (iCal) on a Mac OSX Mountain Lion (Step 2). These steps may also work with older OS X versions, but may vary slightly.

• Screenshots may differ from what you see. • You can also setup this for your iPhone, Android,

or other calendar software. Use the guides at here on how to do this. http://www.feinberg.northwestern.edu/mis/student/feinberg-gapps.html THE MOST IMPORTANT THING is that you need to use your account username and account password. Not your NetID. See Slide 5 for more details.

STEP 1

• Subscribe to the Course Calendar using eMerg and Feinberg Google Apps (@fsm.northwestern.edu)

1. Login to eMerg. 2. Click the +Google Calendar button.

1. Click the +Google Calendar button next to the calendar you wish to add 2. M1s Please Note: You may need to add a new calendar for modules after Foundations

1. Login to your Feinberg Google Apps account using your NetID at http://login.fsm.northwestern.edu. It is also possible to login using the account username and password. Important: You will need to know your Account Username and Password to setup on a mobile device or with iCal/Calendar. Try to log in using this information to ensure you have it correct. Your Account Password may differ from your NetID Password.

2. M1 students have not setup the account password, please follow this step: If you cannot log in using your Account Username and Password, you may need to reset this information. To do this, Click “Trouble Logging in” and follow the prompts.

1. Click “Yes, add this calendar” 2. It now appears in your Google Calendar

STEP 2

• Add the course calendar to the Calendar App (iCal).

• The following instructions are for Mac OSX Mountain Lion. The procedure is similar for other versions, but actual prompts may appear differently.

1. Open “System Preferences” 2. Click “Mail, Contacts & Calendars”

1. Click Gmail to add a new account

1. Enter your account information. 2. You must use your ACCOUNT USERNAME and ACCOUNT PASSWORD from Slide 5 3. Click Set Up 4. Return to Slide 5 if you don’t recall your ACCOUNT USERNAME and PASSWORD

1. Select the services you want to sync with your computer For M1s: It is highly recommended that you disable the Mail sync service because your Feinberg Google Apps account (@fsm) should be setup to be forward to your @northwestern.edu account.

1. Open Calendar (iCal) 2. Click Calendar 3. Click Preferences

1. Click your FSM account 2. Click Accounts 3. Click Delegations 4. Select the calendar you wish to add

1. Your calendar will appear on the left. iCal needs to have access to the internet. 2. It may take some time to sync. 3. When completed, the calendar should appear.

NOTE: • You will not be able to edit the calendar. You can only view it. • Contact your course or element/thread coordinator if there are errors. • Information is not available by college at this time. • You may need to edit your sync settings in the future. • Always check eMerg or consult with your course or element/ thread

coordinator for the most accurate information.

If you maintain a personal calendar in your Feinberg Google Apps account, then you can copy scheduled events from the course/module Google calendar that apply to you: 1. Click on the event you want to copy. 2. Select the “Copy to my calendar” option. 3. Options for the event to edit will appear. Modify what you may need and click save.
