THE LIP F 1.10
NEW YEAR: NEW MINSTRY TO GIRLS The New Year is here, along with many opportunities for our students to engage in new friendships, have a great
time, and grow in their walk with God. We are aiming to develop a strong strategy that will help our students be
spiritually successful in ‘10, and a significant aspect of that is an event called Princess Ball Weekend, taking place
February 26-27.
The Princess Ball Weekend is being developed by a team of women in our ministry and church who are looking at
ways we can do the following: 1) launch an intentional ministry to our girls, 2) connect spiritually mature women
with our girls in a purposeful mentoring program, and 3) help our girls gain personal vision for biblical womanhood
in the midst of adolescence. Princess Ball Weekend promises to be not only a fun weekend but also a foundation for
our girls ministry for years to come.
On Friday, February 26, our girls will be treated to an actual ball-like atmosphere, complete with fancy dinner,
entertainment, and guest speaker Lynne Hollaway. Lynne is the former Girls Minister at Geyer Springs FBC in Little
Rock, AR, and brings several years of ministry experience and insight to help equip our girls for a lifestyle of purity
and a heart for God’s purpose in their life. That Saturday, we will answer the question, “Who am I when the make-
up comes off?” through a series of seminars dealing with relationships, unity, purity, and a vision for Biblical self-
esteem. The girls will be spending the night at the homes of church members, receiving a t-shirt, and making lots of
memories throughout the weekend. The cost for this weekend is just $35 and the deadline to sign up is (ironically)
on Valentine’s Day. We need drivers, homes, and dads to help serve on Friday night. If you are willing to help serve,
please call the SWITCH office.
SWITCH SERVICE + FOOD = ALL SMILES Starting January 20th, we will offering a snack supper for the students that attend SWITCH on Wednesday nights.
The snack supper will be “student friendly” and ideal for students who have school practices and don’t have time to
grab dinner before coming to church. Meals might look like a Chick-Fil-A Sandwich and chips for $3, a Sonic Burger
and fries for $3, or even pizza for $1/slice. The meal isn’t meant to fill them up as much as it is meant to hold them
over. The menus will be posted online and included in our weekly student newsletter on Sundays. The meals will be
served from 5:30-6:15, and it will be first come first serve (if we run out, students will be directed to our adult meal
in the worship center.) We have a HUGE need for adults/parents to help serve this weekly meal. If you are willing to
help serve, please call the SWITCH office.
SUPER SWITCH SERVICE Wednesday night, January 13, we will host our quarterly SWITCH Service that is geared toward our students bringing
their unchurched friends. We’ll have door prizes, fun games, videos, free food, a live band, and guest speaker Ryan
Bush (a former missionary to Peru and one of Jason’s old interns!). Get ready to carpool and encourage your
student invite their friends!

Parent Palooza: January 24 @ 4:30PM
Calling all parents to “more than just a parent meeting!”
You’ll receive several parenting resources, information
on spring and summer events, hear a brief seminar:
“Teens: Handling Their Handhelds”, and renew/review
your release forms. You won’t want to miss this!
Man Weekend
Most adolescent guys are just thinking about sports,
girls, trucks, and, well, more girls. We want to equip our
guys to start thinking about biblical manhood as it relates
to a teenage boy, and that starts at Man Weekend. We’ll
spend time outdoors, eat red meat, make some man
memories, and come back as warriors with wisdom. We
are looking at late April/early May for this event—more
information to come.
Grizzlies Games: January 22 (MS) & January 30 (HS)
Even though A.I. doesn’t play for them anymore, the
Grizz is always a good time. Get your student to join us
for a night of fun and fellowship! Middle School and
High School will be separate for this event. The cost is
$20 and we will leave the church at 6pm.
(We are in need of adult drivers to transport our
students: hint, hint!)
