The Fleur de Lis Ball | February 23, 2019 | 6:00 - 11:00 p.m. | Hilton Chicago marillacstvincent.org | 312-943-6776 | PO Box 14699 The Fleur De Lis is a symbol of French nobility. This symbol connects Marillac St. Vincent’s two Centers to the Daughters of Charity, its founders and their homeland, while reminding us of the generosity and selflessness of Louise and those original Daughters who dedicated their lives to helping and serving those in need. In 1617 in France, St. Vincent De Paul began asking lay noblewomen in the parishes to help him in his mission of serving the poor. One of those women, St. Louise de Marillac, became so dedicated to this mission that she, in partnership with St. Vincent, founded the Daughters of Charity—the first non-cloistered women’s religious order to work among the poor, serving them in the spirit of humility, simplicity, and charity. For 25 years Fleur de Lis guests have actively and generously supported the life-changing work of Marillac St. Vincent Family Services. This generosity has allowed us to transform the lives of children, those working below the poverty line, isolated seniors, and others in need. In this special anniversary year, we will be honoring the Daughters of Charity, and recognizing 25 years of impact from past honorees for their collective years of service and support to Chicago’s communities on the north and west sides.
