Fleeceless waterproofing for main areas WestWood‘s «Weproof» system for main areas is manufactured from modern liquid PMMA resins and meets the most stringent demands in terms of properties such as crack-bridging, ageing, water absorption, tear strength, resistance to high and low temperatures and UV resistance. Although many PMMA systems with fleece reinforcement are now applied and have proved to be very successful (current standards in Germany, for instance, stipulate the use for fleece reinforcement for liquid waterproofing of main areas on roofs), the Weproof system meets the same stringent requirements even without fleece reinforcement. So far WestWood is the only manufacturer of PMMA in Germany to market a fleeceless system that has passed the tests for structural waterproofing using liquid resins in accordance with DIN 18195. The Weproof system received a general building authority test certificate (abP) from MPA Braunschweig. The system creates a seamless waterproofing layer that bridges cracks up to 1 mm wide. Whether on bal-conies, terraces or multi-storey car parks, this fleece-less waterproofing for main areas can be used anywhe-re because its properties meet the specified require-ments.

Product properties All Weproof products are based on PMMA resins (PMMA = polymethyl methacrylate), which are very fast-curing. The resins will never beco-me brittle and due to their chemical composition they are flexible and free from plasticisers. Consequently they remain permanently elastic and extensible. Superior weathering resistance, flexibility, UV resi-stance, minimal water absorption, a high crack-bridging capacity and low-temperature flexibility are further features of a Weproof PMMA waterproofing system. The weather conditions during application are of secondary importance. The PMMA system can be applied safely even at low temperatures and high rela-tive humidity.

PMMA system components are also used for the sub-sequent build-up. On top of the waterproofing layer there is a protective and wearing layer that prevents any damage to the waterproofing. This also fulfils aesthetic demands and requirements such as non-slip properties as well as chemical and mechanical resistance. Areas of application WestWood‘s Weproof system is used successfully for the fleeceless waterproofing of multi-storey car parks, terraces, balconies, ramps and any application where a reliable, economical water-proofing system is required for the main area. Advantages of Weproof:• No embedded fleece reinforcement, therefore

cost-saving • Optimised consumption rates: Rapid application

due to self-levelling consistency• Significantly lower odour thanks to innovative for-

mulation • Permanently weather-resistant (UV-, hydrolysis-

and alkali-resistant) • Fast-curing • Flexible at low temperatures • High crack-bridging capacity • Thixotropic properties can be adjusted on site, e.g.

for application to ramps

Technical Report

Weproof - fleeceless waterproofing for main areas Waterproofing against moisture, also referred to as structural waterproofing, is crucial for ensuring the serviceability and long life of a building. It includes all the measures designed to prevent any harmful influence on the fabric of the building. The liquid PMMA resins manufactured by WestWood and used for waterproofing create a full bond with the substrate (fully bonded waterproofing). Once cured, the liquid resin is comparable to an «elastic skin».
