Children's Activities on Summer Sundays All ages are welcome in worship at 10:30 AM. We also will have nursery care for babies and toddlers with Ms. Dorothy on the first floor. We have organized activities, such as games, crafts and stories for K- 4th grade during worship on the second floor with Ms. Crystal or Mr. Lee. Parent classroom assistants are also needed every Sunday in our UU Kids room. Sign-ups at the door.
Book Club The next meeting of the Church Book Club, which reads only nonfiction, will be on Thursday, July 22, 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the home of Emily Stoper, which is (unfortunately) not accessible. Contact Emilyfor more information at [email protected]. The book to be discussed is Seeing Voices by Oliver Sacks (about the world of the deaf). In addition to the book discussion, there will be a chalice lighting, brief personal check-ins, refreshments and opening/closing readings.
Help the Green Energy Fund Drive! The Green Sanctuary Energy Audit identified opportunities to save energy--and save the church an estimated at $2000 annually! That's right, every year. All we need is your help to realize this potential -- You can contribute towards the Green Energy Fund Drive to install these key energy saving technologies as the church budget can't afford the $3000 initial cost to get these savings rolling. Examples are LED lights for the sanctuary exit signs, dimmable compact fluorescent lamps in the Starr King room and occupancy sensors in hallways and rooms. The money spent will be paid back in savings in less than two years. Once installed, the church will immediately start saving money andreducing our Carbon Footprint -- this is the gift that keeps on giving! We are requesting donations of any amount. Please consider $25 to $100.

Funding Vision 2012 Raising funds for our Asst. Minister for Community Engagement is well underway! As of July 14, we've raised just over $30,000 toward our goal of $50,000 by the end of August. Your participation matters because we want the minister to know that we are on board with them and their ministry. There are now 2 more ways you can participate:
1. Member Joani Blank has issued a challenge. She'll donate $3,000 if another church individual or household will match it.
2. Brian Jeffries, using the informal church listserve, can help us raise money and find new homes for things we no longer need. People can post items they'd like to sell. Those interested in buying would respond with the price paid being donated by the seller, to the Vision 2012 fund. Contact Brian for details.
If you would like to meet Joani's challenge or donate directly, please contact one of the Vision 2012 Fundraising Team members: Mary Foran, 510-848-0721, Brian Jeffries, 510-472-9241, or Rev. Dan Kane, 510-409-0465.
Board Adopts New Ends! Be sure to read the dynamic and visionary new ends of the church adopted at the last Board of Trustees meeting. They are on the back of the bulletin and posted on the website.
