    August 24th, 1941

    It had rained for two days and great puddles of water stood eve

    squirrel reported that an old hens coop was completely flooded. Thvisited the hen and found that the poor creature was standing in wher spurs should have been had she been a rooster. The General orTeenie Weenie men to bring picks and shovels and dig a ditch sdrain from her coop. The little men set to work, and after m

    shoveling, they finished the ditch. The water soon drained off andvery grateful.

    On the way back to the shoe house, where the Teenie Weeniesnoticed some packages sitting on the step of a big house where thleft them.

    The Dunce went off to bed. He lay and thought of the delicious raall the other Teenie Weenies were enjoying. He was very unhappy Lady of Fashion tiptoed into the room with a cherry seed filled tocream.

    The Lady of Fashions Rose

    I saw the prettiest rosebud today, said the Lady of Fashion one wa

    They had almost reached the bud when a big bee came buzzing sChinaman. The little chap dodged and lost his hold on the stem, b

    shirt caught on a sharp thorn and held him dangling high above theHold on until I chase the bee off, yelled the Dunce, waving the saw

    Dont strike at the bee, shouted the Sailor. That will make him mto sting you. Let him alone and hell go away.

    The Dunce followed the Sailors advice, and after buzzing arounWeenies several times the bee finally flew away. The Sailor climbeChinaman hung, and with the help of the Dunce they were able to pback onto the stem.

    They soon cut the bud off and lowered it to the ground. The D

    carrying the bud all by himself and it was all he could do. It was a sweated so much with the effort that his clothes were wringing wet the shoe house.

    Oh, how lovely! exclaimed the Lady of Fashion when the bud wasshe kissed each of the blushing Teenie Weenie men on their TeenWeve got to put it in water or it will wilt, and we havent anything bit. What shall we do?

    Put it in the swimming pool, suggested the Sailor.

    Tilly Titter Brings News

    The Teenie Weenies were usually out of bed by daylight, but one molittle people snored in their tiny beds long after the sun was up. Tlate the night before, for it had been a warm evening and the little pswimming. They had paddled around in the old sauce dish whichswimming pool until a late hour, and, of course, they slept longer thmorning.

    The Old Soldier with the wooden leg was up and busy chopping wstove. The Cook was sleepily stirring up an acorn shellful of panGeneral was just pulling on his tiny pants, and the Dunce was when Tilly Titter, the English sparrow, alighted on the roof of the sShe was chattering at the top of her voice, and the Teenie Weenies

    of the house, for Tilly was a great gossip and as much of a treat to tas a morning newspaper.

    The Chinaman came running from .the old teapot where he liveappeared in his pajamas at an upstairs window. Tilly was so excited

    fast that the Teenie Weenies could hardly understand her, but presome sense out of her chatter, for the little people can generally and animals.

    Hits the swimmin pool! chirped Tilly. Hits empty. The water is is as dry as a air pin.

    September 14th, 1941

    The Dunce was mad. He was al1 ready to go fishing when the Gen

    Were digging our carrots today, said the General, and well Teenie Weenies help.

    Ah, shucks! exclaimed the Dunce. Were always doing something

    to go fishin. What do we want with those old carrots? Theyre no go

    The Teenie Weenies had planted seed early in the Spring, and nocarrots in their garden.

    It is a simple task for a grown-up person to pull a carrot out of theTeenie Weenies it meant a lot of very hard work. It was necessary around the carrot. That hole had to be nearly 20 Teenie Weeniewould be about five inches in our measurement. It took a lot of shovfor a great deal of earth had to be thrown out. Sometimes the eart

    In order to lift the carrot out of the hole the Teenie Weenies set up they attached a block and tackle. The tackle rope was fixed to a w

    two stout Teenie Weenies turning each handle even such a tremencarrot could be lifted out of the hole.

    It took the Teenie Weenies three and a half days to remove the t

    weather was warm, too, and the little men sweated a lot during Chinaman kept the thirsty workmen supplied with cold water wh

    After the carrots had been dug they were taken to the Teenie Weewhich was a deep hole beneath a small hill near the shoe house. keep throughout the Winter, and whenever carrots were wante

    The Cook made several tasty carrot dishes, and the night after t

    been stored away he prepared a carrot loaf. All the Teenie Weeniesof this particular dish and the Dunce especially liked it.

    serving of carrot loaf, a few days ago I think I heard you makecarrots were no good. Do you still feel that way?
