The Fine Art diploma course provides the best oppor-tunities for individual artistic development. The course is seen as a personal space for development and is based on an intense exchange between teachers and students.

The main focus of the course is the free and, as far as possible, independent work in one of the eighteen art classes. These classes cover the entire spectrum of the fine arts and associated artistic forms of expression.

The results of the art course are presented and dis cussed at regular intervals and are explored in more depth in individual revision sessions. Numerous and well-equipped university workshops are at your dis posal for realizing your artistic ideas. Excursions, visits to exhibi-tions, lectures and class-relevant projects, as well as art and media classes round off the course.

And afterwards?

The objective of this course is to be able to indepen-dently realize one’s own artistic goals based on a broad foundation of craftsmanship and media- as well as material-specific skills. Course graduates, particularly those with the additional qualification Promotion of Art, have gained competencies above and beyond this that will be useful in careers in further education for adults; museums; businesses; art schools and universi-ties, etc.

Particularly qualified students have the option of being admitted to a two-semester master’s course.

A number of steps are necessary for application to the HBK Braunschweig. In these steps the students prove their “special artistic talent”. This is based either on the successful participation in Frühstart Kunst (www.frühstart-kunst.de) or through appli-cation with a portfolio and a successful interview. For this application process, three steps are required:

1. Online application via the HBK Braunschweig website

2. Submission of the application documents by 15 March (date of receipt!)

3. Submission of portfolio (personally or by post)

Note: The portfolio must have been received at the university by 31 March. Information and dead-lines for personally handing in the portfolio will be posted on the website.
