Heathrow’s final consultation has already started and runs until 13 September 2019. This is one of the largest infrastructure projects this country has undertaken and these plans may have a significant impact on the Spelthorne Community, including:
• one of the world’s largest car parks (around 22,000 spaces) in Stanwell
• another 25,000 flights a year even before the 3rd runway is operational
• building on the Green Belt and loss of existing open spaces
• jobs and apprenticeships
• economic and employment benefits
• changes to airspace, flight paths and night flights
• cargo related development and HGVs
• river diversions and large dirty-water treatment plants
• major changes to the M25, junctions and local roads with traffic movement (from the north of the airport where most of the existing car parks are, to the south west in and around Spelthorne)
• mitigation and compensation schemes
• new temporary bus routes
• noise, air and light pollution
• further on street parking on local roads near the airport if no controlled parking zones are proposed
• construction impacts using sites within the borough until 2035
• temporary worker accommodation, including hardstanding for caravans
The final Heathrow consultation is open Last chance to comment on the airport’s expansion plans which will have a significant impact on our Borough
