Notes for EarsThe marker (hairgrip) is in the last of the previous row. Do the next 12sc as normal then start the next row in the 1st of the last 12 (as shown in pic)

When you get to the last 6sc, cut the yarn, thread onto a needle and pull through just the outer/nearest to you loop of all 6sc, then pull up to close neatly.

To rejoin yarn for 2nd ear, pull the yarn through one of the remaining 12sc and make 1 chain - put a marker in this chain and count it as the first of the 12.

It can get a bit fiddly around the 1st ear and to avoid a hole forming, when you reach the join, insert the hook to make the next sc as usual but then pick up a strand from the 1st ear and finish the sc as normal. Same for the opposite side of the ear so pick up a strand of the 1st ear, then the next sc and finish as normal. Just make sure you’ve got 12sc by the time you reach your marker and haven’t left a big hole.

Probably not the clearest picture but you can see it’s closed!

Tail

Rnd Instruction stitch no.

Tail is the same for any size kitty, just make it longer or shorter and mix it up with some stripes.

1 6sc in adjustable loop 6

2 V in each 12

3 Go round and round these 12sc until it’s long enough.

Stuff as you go but not too firmly else the tail won’t curl round the body. Leave the final end empty of stuffing, squash flat, sew the end up using a needle then sew to middle back of body.

Stuff the tail lightly, pinch closed and, using a needle, join the inner loop of each sc with the one opposite

Then use the outer loop of each of the 12sc to join to the body

This is what you should end up with. Which you can either leave waving about or do a couple of stitches to hold it to the body

Poke the needle through the inside of the tail, then pick up a couple of strands on the body. Do this about 3 times.

Invisible Decrease

Pick up just the nearest loop of the next sc.

Then pick up just the nearest loop of the next sc. (the two that are going to become one)

Yarn over and pull through the two front loops

Yarn over and pull through the two remaining.

Finishing offFor the White eyes:

1 6sc in adjustable loop 6

2 V (sc increase) in each. This may be big enough for mummy cat so finish off here. 12

3 *V, sc* repeat between * and * 6 times for daddy cat. 18

Attach just below the ears by picking up the loop under the final sc round and then a couple of strands on the body for all the sc on the eye piece.

For the features:

Thread some black yarn onto a long needle and poke through (not splitting any stitches) from the back of the head to the front, leaving a tail at the back. Start with a triangle for the nose and work your way round the mouth and whiskers. (The cheek spots are French knots). When you’ve finished, take the thread to the back again, through the exact same gap that you went in. This way, you can tie the two ends together, cut any leftover off then pull the knot into the stuffing.
