59TH ANNUAL

2014 AMCA INTERNATIONAL ANNUAL MEETING

August 2, 2014

Dear AMCA Member,

As I write this letter, I’m reflecting a bit on the Fan Efficiency Symposium that AMCA just hosted in Schwäbisch Hall, Germany. There were 85 attendees representing 10 countries, and our nine speakers represented seven countries. Why were they there? Because efficiency regulations affect the companies they work for, and they have a real need to learn more about existing and future regulations. It was a powerful meeting. We intend to continue the trend of hosting meetings with impact, and our 59th Annual Meeting in Bermuda ensures continuation of the momentum we’ve generated.

As you examine the schedule for the Annual Meeting, you’ll find that we’ve given thought to the schedules and agendas; we aim to provide a more dynamic atmosphere that encourages attendees to look to the future. We start with a kick-off meeting that welcomes our members, first-time attendees, invited guests and sponsors. This meeting will orient members to what lies ahead over the next several days. We’ve expanded the time for discussing rebate programs, building codes and standards, and the impending DOE regulation. The sponsorship event has a new time slot to free up an evening to explore Bermuda, and the event has been relocated to a better venue for our members to get to know our sponsors. The division meetings will take on a new format, in which we concentrate on strategy instead of reporting on status. And we end with a general session to drive home the directions taken during the meetings, including those taken by the board.

As we pointed out last year at this time, there’s even more happening in our industry regarding codes, standards, regulations, utility programs and legislation. These changes will affect your future, so please plan to attend. And if you’re thinking about becoming more active in the Air Movement and Control Association, there’s no better time than now—no more critical time than now—to get involved and have an impact on your business’ environment.

Regards,

Mark Stevens

Deputy Executive Director

SEMINAR 2: SUNDAY, OCTOBER 19, 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM

The Mindset of a Leader SCOTT HUNTER, BEE, JD, CSP

Scott Hunter has been transforming organizations for over two decades through keynote speeches, workshops, retreats and management-team coaching. Since 1985, he has helped hundreds of businesses, delivered over 1,000 speeches and worked with over 250,000 individuals. He has conducted over 200 corporate retreats for groups as small as two and as large as 44, consistently facilitating breakthroughs in the participants’ personal and professional lives and setting the stage for the companies they manage to achieve results beyond expectations. Client feedback is enthusiastic. “In the nine months since we started to work with you, we’ve had more opportunities and successes than in the previous nine years,” says one client. “You changed the way we do business,” another claims. Following receipt of an engineering degree from the City University of New York, Scott spent four years working in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in Washington, D.C., while attending George Washington

University Law School at night. Scott graduated in the top 10% of his class and moved to California, where he eventually opened a private law practice. Eleven years into his law practice and motivated by the desire to take his business to the next level, Scott began researching what it takes for people to produce extraordinary results in their personal lives and careers, breaking through to new levels of profitability and success. He took classes, read books and signed up for one seminar after another. After several years of study, Scott became a partner in a major law firm, managing an office and enjoying a level of success he had previously only dreamed of. In 1984, Scott decided to retire from his law practice so he could help other companies make the same journey he had made. Using what he learned, he realized he could guide others to bypass costly, time-consuming detours. Scott created a 15-step system to deliver repeatable results and he has been teaching that system for more than 25 years. Now Scott works as a successful business coach and speaker. He speaks to thousands of people each year and shares advice with CEOs of corporations of all sizes. His book “Unshackled Leadership” has received positive reviews and garnered a following among executives, professionals and students. He has been recognized as an expert on over 50 radio talk shows and appeared on a number of television news programs. In 2007, he was recognized by the National Speakers Association and was awarded the Certified Speaking Professional designation.
