The ChequeBook 1 It was his first time visiting a baby shop, it had been 20 years since he had married his wife. 20 years of working hard on his career. Lawrence was a director, not the kind of director for a summer camp. He was a director who directed movies He saw the doors open and close, mothers happy to shop for their newborn or unborn, fathers unwillingly following their children as they run around as soon as they exit. It was a wild place. Lawrence walked into the store, He saw the room split into half, one side with pink clothing, toys, food cans, baby powder and everything that was for babies. He turned his head and looked at the other side of the room. It was identical with only one major dierence. Everything was blue. Not knowing the gender of his soon-to-be-born baby, he decided to play a hunch and buy the blue baby products. He took out his checkbook and wrote a cheque. “What should we name him?” Lawrence’s wife asked, “I don’t know, why don’t we name him what you want his name to be.” On a rather cold September day, Lawerence Exeter Jr. was born. The couple couldn't decide on a name. They ended up using his father’s name. Multi colored decorations lined the room. The number 1 was everywhere. Lawrence was proud, he carried his son around to greet the relatives, there were smiling faces everywhere. Although some might think a 1 month birthday isn't as important as a 1 year birthday, there was still a huge cake on the center table. The family gathered and sang happy birthday. Well, everything was normal until it was time to blow the candles out. Lawrence Exeter Jr. of course didn’t know how to blow candles out, why would he? He was only 1 month old. Lawrence decided to blow them out for him and pretend that he blew them. As Lawrence approached the candles he didn't notice but his baby’s arm had touched the flame and Lawrence Exeter JR started crying. Lawrence didn’t notice what went wrong until he saw his baby’s arm. They rushed to the hospital immediately.
