Why Invest InCardiff Hotels
Cardiff is in every sense a capital city. Young, fast growing and transformational, the capital of Wales has an enviable reputation for its connected businesses community, international sports venues, cutting-edge media and a lifestyle that ranks among the best in Europe.
Less than two hours from London, with excellent transport and super-fast broadband, Cardiff is one of Europe’s best-connected and most competitive destinations.
In the heart of Cardiff ’s compact city centre lies Cardiff Castle. Its walls and towers surround over 2,000 years of history, started by the Romans — the first to build a fort on the site. The National Museum Cardiff houses Wales’ national archaeology, geology and natural history collections, as well as one of Europe’s finest art collections.
In addition, the Wales Millennium Centre is one of the most varied and lively performing arts centres in Europe. Within 200m of the Coal Exchange is the chic Mermaid Quay - the perfect place to refuel after a busy day of sightseeing, or to relax with a romantic meal on the waterfront.
When it comes to sport, without doubt Cardiff has world-class pedigree. The world-famous Millennium Stadium is the home of Welsh rugby and football and is also the regular venue for the British Speedway Grand Prix alongside numerous music concerts.
The nearby globally renowned Celtic Manor Resort hosted golf ’s Ryder Cup in 2010 and has a choice of three courses to play on.
“In March 2016 Cardiff topped the list for the ‘hot spots’ for hotel development and acquisition across the UK”

Introducing The Exchange Hotel
The Grade II* listed Coal Exchange building is located in Mount Stuart Square, Cardiff and has one of the richest histories of all heritage buildings within Wales. In the 18th Century as Cardiff became the biggest coal port in the world, the building was constructed between 1883 and 1886 by Edwin Seward as a base from which to conduct trade negotiations regarding the coal mines of the South Wales Valleys - most of which was shipped to Cardiff for distribution.

The property is located close to the Mermaid Quay area, Marina and Opera House, which has been a major focus of regeneration over the last 20 years for Cardiff Council. Bringing the Coal Exchange back to life is a natural next step in this process and is something the people of Cardiff have wanted for some time, many of them having been through and used the building over the past 30 - 40 years in different ways.
