The Evolve Trust Awards Evening: A truly sensational Awards Evening for the Trust and staff to celebrate the outstanding contributions made to the education of students across the Trust and its Academies, took place on Monday 5 th December. Claire-Marie Cuthbert delivered a very warm welcome to the first of what will be an annual Staff Awards Ceremony. This was followed by Chris Henley and Gary Toward from Decisive-Element who gave a motivational key note speech. Claire-Marie said “The Evolve Trust recognises that its staff are its greatest asset and without their outstanding contribution, students would not achieve their potential and develop the skills needed to succeed and enjoy life” Well done to the winners and runners up for the outstanding contribution category; Laura Solly & Shelley Mercer (Brunts), Ricky Potts & Sally Hobday (Beech), Sarah O’Leary & Michelle Wright (Bramble) and Jennifer Bishop & Natalie Aveyard (Brunts) for The Extra Mile Award. Media coverage of the event was expertly handled by students from The Brunts Academy, ably supported by Kevin Derbin and Luke Milner. Brunts Employer Led Assemblies: Week commencing the 12th September was a busy week at The Brunts Academy with regard to Employer Engagement. Every Year Group from Year 7 to 11 had an inspirational employer-led assembly, organised by the Evolve Trust, with a common theme on employability skills and growth sectors for future career opportunities. The following employers delivered assemblies; Laing O’Rourke, Pendragon PLC, Mansfield 2020, Lindhurst Innovation Engineers, Avonside Group. Bramble Challenge: The multi skilled Evolve Trust staff donned their scruffs and jumped into action to support Bramble Academy with a few renovation tasks. The team painted doors, cleaned outside and used their creative skills to re-do displays and decorate spaces with bunting and festive materials. A number of talented sixth formers from the Brunts Academy designed and painted a series of collages on the wall to brighten the space for the children and the following shows their design so far: The project intended to give post 16 students the opportunity of developing key employability skills through the supervised renovation of a domestic dwelling house to the standard required to place it on the open market. The students : Gained an insight into the working environment. Learnt basic DIY skills such as plastering, boxing in, tiling, woodwork, wallpapering, painting, carpeting and use of the relevant tools and materials to do the work Developed a portfolio of evidence to support the achievement of AIM Awards - Teamwork Skills Wrote a CV to evidence the key employability skills developed as a result of the experience Christmas Card Competition: Well done to the winners of the Christmas Card competition which the Evolve Trust used as their corporate Christmas Card.
