One hundred and twelve students from The Evergreen State College are currently serving
Spring Quarter internships in more than 50 agencies in Thurston County.
Assigned by the Evergreen Office of Cooperative Education, the students are among 180
Evergreeners currently earning academic credit for on-the-job learning experiences through-
out the state and the nation.
Olympia area agencies sponsoring a total of 104 interns include federal, state and
county governmental units, the Olympia School District, Timberland Regional Library, State
Capitol Museum, St. Peter's Hospital, Group Health, Community Action Council, Capitol City
Studios, Giffords' the Gardeners, Evergreen Convalescent Center, St. Michael's School,
Union Street Center, Association of Washington Businesses, Olympia Senior Center, Olympia
Appliance Center, and the Calvary Tabernacle Church.
Thurston County is also hosting four Evergreen interns in Lacey, two in Littlerock
and one each in Tenino and Rochester. Sixteen Evergreen interns are assigned to Tacoma,
12 to Seattle, 6 to Shelton, 3 each in Wenatchee and Walla Walla, and 2 in Bellevue.
Other Washington cities hosting Evergreen interns include Omak, Kirkland, Mt. Vernon,
Vancouver, Clearwater, Renton, Forks, Port Orchard, Kenmore, Vashon, Leavenworth, Gig
Harbor, Yakima, Bremerton, Westport and Spokane.
Nine students are interning out-of-state and another is completing a Spring Quarter
internship in Victoria, British Columbia.

Four students at The Evergreen State College are currently serving Spring Quarter
internships in Lacey. They are among 112 Evergreeners earning academic credit for on-
the-job learning experiences in more than 50 agencies in Thurston County. An additional
68 Evergreen students are serving Spring Quarter internships throughout the state and the
nation.
Assigned to Lacey are: Judith Blackard, an art education intern at Mountain View
Elementary School; William Klem, Jr., assistant division manager and salesman for Sears;
Beverly Wambach, an intern at Blume Realty; and Kevin Weigler, a programmer analyst for
Allied Data.

Two interns are assigned to Littlerock: Marv Mason and William Carpenter are both
working as aides at the Cedar Creek Youth Camp. Deslie Friesendahl is working for the
Olympus Council of the Camp Fire Girls in Tenino, and Tom Sawtell is working for Mari-
culture Northwest in Tenino.

Deslie Friesendahl, an Edmonds freshman at The Evergreen State College, is currently
serving a Spring Quarter internship in Tenino. Ms. Friesendahl is among 180 Evergreen
students currently earning academic credit for on-the-job learning experiences throughout
the state and the nation.
Working under the supervision of Dolores Monohan, Ms. Friesendahl is assigned to the
Olympus Council of the Camp Fire Girls in Tenino.

Joseph Kennedy, an Anacortes sophomore at The Evergreen State College, is currently
serving a Spring Quarter internship in Mount Vernon. Kennedy is among 180 Evergreen

Kennedy is serving as a veterans advisor and counselor at Skagit Valley College under

Jacoma; Terry Seaholm, Alcohol Receiving Center; Sally Sx^eeney, Metropolitan Development

Two students, James L. Montgomery and Ronald J. Thomas, are interning with KTOY F.M.
radio in Tacoma. And, two others, Pearl Rose and Ronald Servine, are serving internships

Twelve students from The Evergreen State College are currently serving Spring Quarter
internships in Seattle. The 12 are among 180 Evergreen students currently earning academic

and social agencies throughout the state and the nation.

Division of Youth Affairs; Richard Botham, King County Park Department; Kenneth Cole,
Seattle Mental Health Institute; Elizabeth Denzel, Saxe Floral; Heidi Ehrenberg, Woodland>
Park Zoo; Mike Kemp, The Sufi Center; Richard Osborne, Seattle Aquarium; Richard Simonson,
Jr., Allied Arts of Seattle; Jill Stewart, Pacific Science Center, and Jon Todd, Cascade
Community Center.
Evergreen students also interning in King County include: Somkiat Sayamnet, interning
with the Renton Vocational School; Rebecca Knievel, helping rebuild a boat in Kenmore under
supervision of Dick Berry; George Dale, working at Sound Food on Vashon Island; and Muriel
Givens, interning in the Fairfax Psychiatric Hospital in Kirkland.
Two students are also interning in Bellevue: Peggy Mizukami is working with Chiropractor
Noel Lloyd, and Elaine Schultz is interning at the Foundation School of Art.
